Enrollment deposit was submitted, but not seeing any way to submit a housing deposit. Hmm.
I think it will take a few days for them to process the enrollment deposit and get you all set up.
Yep, seems to be the case. Looks like a VT username is needed to do it, which is generated at some point after the enrollment deposit is submitted. Thanks.
Follow these steps:
The student will need to create a VT username and log into OneCampus. You should see a link for the housing application.
Waitlisted architecture
DD waitlisted as well. Congrats to those accepted!
If I was rejected from Honors college, does that mean I won’t get any merit aid? Since it mentioned in emails that only those who apply for honors college scholarships will be evaluated for merit-based aid
I was wondering the same thing, my D accepted in December but we never saw an honors decision. Did some people’s letters today say they were accepted to honors too?
D24 Accepted-Packing System and Design
In State 4.3W
Test Optional
8 APs
Central Va.
Congrats to all accepted!
D24 waitlisted for engineering.
1560 SAT, 3.98 GPA uw, 9 APs, strong ECs, 3 sport athlete, OOS.
For an engineering school that is 78:22 M:F, D24 is one data point to show their gender imbalance is not due to lack of highly qualified F applicants.
Suggesting community college in the waitlist letter was a step too far for this dad… “If you have a strong desire to attend Virginia Tech, I want you to consider this option. As the transfer admissions process focuses on your work at the college level, transfer applicants can typically present competitive applications after one or two years of targeted study at a community college…”
Onward and upward, keeping faith that D24 will find her school.
Looks like EAs got invitation to Honors college today too. My son checked after I had posted and he got invited to Honors (he was admitted in Dec). He is Comp Science major.
She certainly will as her credentials are really strong. Wishing her the very best!
I agree. Suggesting community college seems insulting with stats like that.
form letter for sure, but still, super lame.
For Virginia residents, admission to VT, or any of the public colleges, is guaranteed if they attend Virginia CC and meet certain very reasonable requirements. There are lots of students that really want to attend VT, or UVA, William and Mary, etc. and this is a way for them to achieve that at a much lower cost.
I wouldn’t be offended by it and am actually glad that VT is letting students know that there is another pathway to being admitted.
My high school class of 22 daughter had similar stats (IB Diploma, 4.4W, varsity sports captain, tons of ECs, in-state) and got waitlisted. It was clearly a yield play since she got off the waitlist on May 3 that year. Just a data point to share.
Virginia public universities don’t worry about protecting their yield for in-state students. It’s not part of their mission.
That’s ridiculous. I hate to suggest “yield protection” because I know that sounds offensive to some, or maybe it was a lackluster essay, but your daughter’s stats were well within the range for acceptance criteria at VT. I know engineering is significantly more competitive, but we know several OOS students who were accepted with far lower scores. I am sure she will land exactly where she should be. There is nothing wrong with attending a CC, but with your daughter’s stats she will have many options to consider and while CC may be one of them she considers, it’s just (in my opinion), not VT’s place to suggest it. Good luck to her, and keep us posted on where she chooses!
DS24 admitted to First Year General Engineering with an interest in Computer Engineering. Can he change his major to Computer Science before the start of classes in Fall? Are the classes for CS and CE different for 1st semester?
