That was my son - he emailed the admissions officer and the response was “mid-February”. We’ve been thinking Feb 14th since then. That’s now the date that we’ll be thinking “you have GOT to be kidding me” if they haven’t released decisions yet.
They say end Feb so they very well might not. But it’s coming !!
Did you accept and pay the enrollment fee at JMU? Just wondering if one needs to do so prior to hearing about merit scholarships
any idea regarding when the stamps scholars will be announced?
No, have not accepted or paid any fees. Son prefers VT for a handful of reasons, most notably JMU only has his second choice major, whereas VT has his first (and second and third) choice.
But with JMU cheaper to start with, plus merit aid, it can’t be ignored. Spouse and I are both federal employees, so we’re asking son to not commit or to exclude any lower cost options until close to May 1 - we just don’t know if we’ll both still have jobs.
Thank you . I can relate ! My spouse is also a federal employee! Good luck to your son and congrats on the scholarship!
I know it’s probably not a sign or anything, and I’m not getting my hopes up, but regarding to the FAFSA VT email, why would they send out information about FAFSA support dates that fall after the expected admissions release date in mid-February, as well as not sending it to everyone, with some people who filed receiving it and others who filed not receiving it?
Just checked inbox and son received emails from VT about FAFSA in November and December. The last one just seems like standard practice.
Maybe they’re trying to gauge how much interest has been lost with the late date?
I’ve also received one mid-December, but it was different than the latest.
Doesn’t it seem a bit odd that they sent it to some who have filed and to some who have not? It doesn’t really seem random, but who knows…
Maybe for the same reason South Carolina sent my S25 a hundred emails encouraging him to apply to the Honors college and then deferred him EA?
Many completed FAFSA and did not get the email. Then others completed FAFSA, but not the general scholarship and received only a scholarship email reminder. Makes sense.
That being said, if I completed FAFSA and received a FAFSA email reminder, I might be more concerned that VT has my financials.
My D25 also received FAFSA emails in Nov and Dec, but nothing since then. We did fill it out in December. She’s applying to Pamplin. Maybe the emails are being sent by major as she also didn’t get that Valentine’s email people were discussing.
I heard the Valentines email was only to people applying under the College of Science.
We also completed the general scholarship application. I know people who filed FAFSA and received. Did your email look like this?
Yes
If you click the financial aid tab on the portal. It should show all emails sent to you.
I saw someone on Reddit refer to a Valentines email that went out today (and therefore were speculating about a 2/14 release). Did anyone receive that (son got the College of Science one earlier this week but nothing today)?
Ohhhh I wasn’t putting that together before. I like that theory!
