We waited until now (the last day to commit), to see if VT had any news. If not, we got JMU.
JMU is a great school. You could still switch to VT after May 1 if your son gets off the waitlist(if he wants to switch). You would lose your JMU deposit though.
FWIW, my class of 2022 kid got into Purdue, RPI, WPI, CWRU for engineering⦠but waitlisted at VT in state.
My 2025 kid, with slightly lower statistics, got into VT, but he was applying for building construction, not engineering.
My D25 is WL at V Tech for wildlife conservation (fingers still crossed) and got into EBIO at CU Boulder, and then a general ag major that she doesnāt want at Cal Poly SLO. Since you are from Colorado do you have any inside info about the bio majors there? We had a time crunch with our jobs and havenāt gotten there though weāre all big skiers and it looks really great online. My DH weighs reputation too heavily and is trying to tell D25 go to SLO but I think heās wrong. Sorry itās a little off topic for VT, but while we waitā¦
I donāt know much about the Bio majors specifically but one of my D23s BFFs is pre-med at CU Boulder and is doing great! Boulder is gorgeous, close proximity to skiing and big school spirit. My S25 was waitlisted at CalPoly SLO for engineering so we never toured it so I canāt help there, but I get the sense its very different from CU although amazing in its own right. Good luck to your daughter - both great options!
My S25 was accepted to Case Western Reserve, Lehigh, Lafayette, Penn State, Pitt, Auburn, UConn, and Syracuse for engineering, but WL at VT in state. Itās gotten much worse for in state engineering students since my S22 applied. Really happy to have schools that ālove him backā but disappointed by VT.
I didnāt get anythingā¦
Same
Nothing here either. Hopefully tomorrow is our day!
I donāt remember⦠but you can commit the day of for most schools right (11:59 PM)?
You have until 11:59 pm today to commit.
Nothing. Againā¦
Yep nothing
yeah, this is not unique to VA.
Nothing again for me
Now, I have a feeling there wonāt be waitlist movements for in-state
I think if thereās no movement for in state today there wonāt be any. They should have all their numbers by now.
I get where youāre coming from, but I donāt think theyāre just done with in-state yet. Thereās probably a waitlist order or some kind of priority list theyāre still working through.
My son was just notified today that he was admitted to the Architecture program off the waitlist. Heās an in-state applicant. Gave him a week to make a decision.
Congratulations! And I am guessing theyāre starting to pull in-state kids now. Only hope from now on
