Maybe! But here were her HS stats… 34 ACT, 4.56 GPA, 10 APS (all our school offered), 500+ community service hours (this is her thing and also she loves this at Wake and Wake cares a lot about this. Pro Humanitate is real there), competitive dancer with 59 state and national awards, officer in StuCo, National English Honor Society pres, NHS officer, varsity golf, founded a non-profit selling jewelry and donating proceeds to women’s shelters, etc
She did not do the interview, but did answer the optional video questions and toured once.
I think 9 kids from her small, private school applied and only two got in.
Her friends at Wake are similar snd she loves being with these smart, driven kids!
Good luck to your student!
Also for waitlisted kids, please reach out. We know someone who was waitlisted and got in and did some really different things that I think stood out! You are all qualified!!!
real. tbh I doubt i’m going to wake anyway. I only applied cuz my friend who goes there begged me too and i liked the meeting i had with the ao at my school lol.
Popping in to congratulate everyone accepted to Wake! It was in our top three. We absolutely loved the area and the campus. Our last kiddo has chosen a different school and I’m kinda sad to let this place go, haha!
Can’t speak for this particular group but can’t overstate how helpful my other students’ college pages have been. From how to get to and from airport, when to buy sports tickets, best places to eat, you name it.
Agreed, the Facebook parent group at my children’s middle and high school has proven to be a valuable resource, especially during my daughter’s senior year. While I’m a Facebook user myself, my experience may vary. Honestly, I only follow pages related to my children. A college Facebook group will be beneficial for the reasons you mentioned.
I have a sophomore at Wake and I found the Facebook page very helpful, especially in regard to logistics. I would also say that Wake itself is extremely good with parent communication compared to other colleges. I remember receiving an email with links to all the emails my admitted student had received so that we wouldn’t miss any deadlines. That doesn’t happen at other schools.
