Wake Forest ED 2024

@homerdog They will not start interviewing 21s until June. Last year interview scheduling for 20s opened mid April I believe. You can also interview remotely. My advice would be to sign up early as spots go quickly, especially if she decides to ED.

@deacons24 thanks. Good info. When you mean remotely, does that mean via Skype? Or with someone who is near us? And why could 20’s interview in April but 21’s can’t interview until June?

@homerdog via Skype or similar. According to Admissions they do not have any preference for one vs the other. My best advice would be to sign up early if she wants to ED (and even if she doesn’t) as I have been told they don’t review the applications until after the interview.

@homerdog I would have her do the interview while you’re there. The main focus of the interview is for them to find out more about her, so I don’t think it matters that much that she wouldn’t be in a position to say Wake was her #1 choice. Our D had not seen Wake at all before she went to interview, then based on that visit decided to apply ED.

I interviewed on skype

Sorry - meant that they could start signing up in April for interviews that began in June.

We traveled to Winston-Salem for our kids’ interviews. The visit was a chance for each to have one more look at the school to help decide whether to apply RD or ED. Also, our campus visits were during spring break before interviews began. D21 decided to apply RD, S24 applied ED. I don’t think it makes any difference whether you interview remotely or at the school.

I applied ED 9/9 and my school got everything in 9/29, it’s been about a month and haven’t heard back. Please tell me others are in the same boat. Is there any specific date applicants will hear back at the latest for ED?

There have been 3 students from my daughter’s school accepted ED. My daughter heard in 3 1/2 weeks (summer), one heard in over 4 weeks, the other over 5 or 6 weeks (both in October). One interviewed in person, others Skype. There is definitely not consistency, so I wouldn’t be discouraged! It can also depend on who your admissions counselor is, as well as the volume of applicants from your region that they have to get through.

Wow. This is super helpful information. We are from an area that a lot of people apply to. @DPWOO1, What other schools where your daughter or her friends interested in? What state are you in?

@stressed2020 - where else are you applying?

We are in the greater Seattle area - a public school that is heavily college prep. Our school historically hasn’t had many kids apply to WF (maybe 1 or 2 total in the last several years), but for some reason it’s on the radar this year. I just looked at the WF admissions stats for Class of 2023 on their website and see that only 6 students came from Washington State - LOL! Our school alone is already half that for next year!

I know there are a few more kids applying as well, but I think most of those are regular decision. My D was also considering Boston College, Vassar, Tulane, USC, the UCs. The others were considering Duke, Boden, Davidson, among others.

She also had a great admissions counselor who she stayed in contact with via email and who was very responsive.

Good Luck!!

Extremely helpful@DPW001.

BC, Vassar and Tulane are all top schools and very similar to Wake. Anyone rejected from your area that you know?

Any thoughts if we should contact our local wake rep for an update? It has been about 6 weeks since we submitted the app.

I don’t know if anyone has been rejected from her school - not sure if there are any other ED applicants. If you are in an area that has a lot of applicants to Wake, it would make sense that yours would probably take a bit longer.

My D was in contact with her admissions counselor during the application process but once the app was complete she did not follow up to ask for an update. Truthfully, I don’t think that contacting them at this point will hurry up the process any more. I know that it’s so painful to wait!

@DPW001 that is really helpful information on all fronts. There are about 15 kids who applied ED from our school and about 300 from our area so makes sense it would take longer. Good points!

Did anyone apply ED for the Global AWAKEning program in Copenhagen?

@GeorgiaC I’ve applied to Richmond, Elon, Tulane so far

@stressed2020Nice!Tulane is my numero 2 choice. I spent the weekend there and loved it almost as much as Wake.

I also have UNC chapel hill, on my list, Elon is definitely up there and haven’t been to Rich yet but heard it was top. Also liked Middlebury, Hamilton, Bucknell. Didn’t like Davidson, American or Lehigh. Any others which you didn’t like?

Is there some sort of admissions portal? My geographical background is a little complicated since I’m Indian, go to boarding school in Costa Rica and have a domestic address in the US. I’m not sure where they’ll send the mail, and there is no one currently living in the Domestic US address.
