Wake Forest ED 2024

Hey guys I just got accepted to Wake ED today! I applied three weeks and one day ago, and these are my stats since I know that’s what everyone wants to see.
ACT: 30 (submitted)
GPA: 4.4 (weighted)
I did not have a ton of activities- leadership in a club, babysitting, a mission trip, a couple of other clubs, volunteering at a summer camp.
I also interviewed in person.

@deamondeac2024 Congrats!! I am so excited for you and I hope to see you around campus next year!

my son was rejected this morning. 3.9 weighted GPA, 1490 SATs, wrestling super star, volunteered a ton, so far all rejections from our school and 1 waitlisted. They must hate our high school. We are in the top 5 in New Jersey.

Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear that. I’m sure he’s very disappointed. I believe you said in an earlier post that Tulane is your second choice. My son is a sophomore at Tulane and loves it! He was admitted ED II for Fall 2018. I definitely suggest that your son switches his Tulane application to EDII. I believe he can as early as Nov 16? Call their admissions office and ask! (They are all very friendly :))

Sorry about the Wake rejection. They may have a slight preference for New York applicants over New Jersey. Our friends in NYC didn’t seem to have too much trouble getting their kids in. Good friends of ours have a junior S at Tulane and he loves it. Student population is apparently fairly similar to Wake demographically although more Jewish students. Great school. And New Orleans is a great city.

Tulane is top on his list. Thank you. He is shocked but we will forge ahead and Tulane is a superb place for sure. Didn’t realize they have EDII. Will quickly look. Thank you.

Yes! He can convert his EA application into an ED II app! That is what my son did. I know for sure (from the inside) that the ā€œWhy Tulaneā€ essay is very very important. When he converts to ED II, I highly recommend that he email his admissions counselor directly (and cc: the general admissions email). In the email he should talk about his decision to convert to ED II. Of course don’t mention it was because he didn’t get into Wake, but rather how ā€œafter much consideration and visiting other schools, he is confident that Tulane is now his first choice for the following reasons…etc etc etc.ā€ Just be sincere and heartfelt, and have well thought out reasons of why Tulane is the perfect fit. My son did this and his counselor was very responsive. Good Luck!

Thanks!

@GeorgiaC wow. Surprised about your S being rejected. Do you all really think it matters so much which state you are from in ED? Wouldn’t they take the kids they want in ED and then just take fewer kids from that state in RD? That helps their yield to take the ED kids since they know they will come. I would look over your S’s app again. Make sure there’s nothing he wants to change. Read the essays and make sure they are self reflective and show that he will be a good addition to his schools. Are you confident in his recommendations? Did the other kids who got rejected from his high school have similar grades, scores, and ECs?

@GeorgiaC I’m also confused because, when I read through all of your posts, it looks like you had a daughter apply to Wake ED and a son too? And some of your posts look like they are written from the point of view of a student and some from a parent. Can you clear that up?

No official ED 2 option at Tulane this year. EA deadline is on Nov. 15

@Temperantia that is incorrect. Tulane does have the ED II option. It is on their admissions website. And my son is an intern in the admissions office and just confirmed with me that they do have ED II. January 6 deadline.

@DPW001 I stand corrected. That’s a recent change. I have a freshman there and it was an option last year but when my daughter began this year’s application process as recently as 6 weeks ago that was not an available option. Good to hear though.

Hi! I received my decision yesterday (Friday 11/8). I was accepted! I know that most people find out via mail but I’m an OPC (obsessive portal checker) meaning that I checked my portal every day since I submitted my application. I went to check my portal on Friday morning and saw that there had been an update. Right below that, I saw that they had added a new item to my checklist that said: ā€œED Reply to Offer of Admissionā€. So even before I clicked on the update I had a feeling I might have been accepted, and my suspicion was confirmed! Today is Saturday 11/9 and I received my mail acceptance envelope with a paper copy of the letter and some stickers.

GPA: 4.02 W 3.9 UW
SAT Scores: 1280 (although I didn’t submit any scores)
Applied: October 16th
Decision: November 8th (3 weeks and 2 days from submission date)
APs: 8
Extra-Curriculars: 3x Tennis Champ, Treasurer of Interact (community service club), NHS, Class of 2020 Treasurer, paid position as an Administrative Assitant temp at Franklin Pierce PA Program, and paid position as a bookseller at my local indie bookshop.

I did a personal interview and campus tour in June as well.

I attend a small public school in Vermont.
My school doesn’t rank, but my class size is 86 students.

Hope this helps!

Congratulations! What a relief and now you can enjoy the rest of senior year, knowing you are Wake bound!
Do you know what date you submitted your application?

@omarsi Congrats!! I am so happy for you! If you want to add me on instagram @nat_chew01, I have been trying to reach out to people also in the class of 20204 to start to make friends

My daughter submitted her application over 6 weeks ago. There was a glitch with her counselor not submitting the ED agreement electronically; however, it was corrected and submitted Oct 15. Still no reply. Looks like those posting rejections waited longer and acceptances were 3-4 weeks. Should we assume rejection?

@Lali50 I wouldn’t assume rejection, it could be taking longer based on the number of applicants in your geographically region.

Fingers crossed.
