Wake Forest ED 2024

yes - she was accepted back in August (interview in July).

Personally, I’m a college advisor myself (not admissions), and if there’s any advice I can give to everyone is to realize that your admissions counselor is just a normal person like everyone else! I know it is scary to put yourself out there and meet with someone who seems to hold the keys to your future. But they are all just regular people who enjoy getting to know students. They want to see that you are passionate and thoughtful and fun, and not just someone who defines yourself by your grades. Hopefully, if you can view your admissions counselor through that lense, it will help you to relax a little and enjoy the opportunity to have a great conversation :). Just be yourself!

@2020senior751 my DD had her interview in August and they also asked her what, if anything, she would change about her high school. I thought that was an interesting question as well. i agree with @DPW001 that they really wanted to get to know DD as a person and she really liked that!!

Hi all, I submitted my application oct 9, everything was checked off by the next day as I mentioned earlier in the page. I haven’t heard back yet and it is 6 weeks from the 10th. Do you think it could be because of my region? I live near Charleston in SC.

@cbowden12 It could be your region, or any number of factors. My daughter heard in 3 ½ weeks, another kid at her school heard in over 5 weeks, and another in 6-7 weeks (all admitted; WA state). They will be especially busy now since the deadline for ED just passed and they have all the applications that probably piled in. Don’t get discouraged!

My daughter found out she was accepted tonight! She applied September 18 and accepted Nov 22. Keep hope alive folks. She’s from Chicago.

My daughter found out last night. She was accepted. Applied Nov 2nd. We are in the Philadelphia area.

I submitted my application on 11/1 and had all of my green checks on 11/7, I live in central Florida and I’m really hoping to hear back before the new year. Do you think that’s possible? since some people on this forum have heard back within three weeks I was wondering if it is possible to hear back maybe this week or next week.

@Macphilly did your daughter hear back through the portal, or via mail. And by any chance, do you know if the portal was updated when she was accepted?

My daughter heard through the portal and a week letter got an 8x11 envelope in the mail.

What changes on the portal?

Portal updated Friday evening very late. Luckily she was checking. Letter didn’t come until tuesday of that week.

@lali50 Congratulations! Would you mind sharing your D’s stats? We are also in the Chicago area. We usually have a few kids apply to Wake RD but not ED. I think our D might consider ED for 2021.

Is there a date that Wake Forest notifies by for ED? if so, when is that?

5.1 GPA, 4year Varsity Athlete, Captain b-ball team senior year, position on Student council, president of ambassadors club, 5 year service project, leadership program at Georgetown this summer, interviewed on-site in July, 6-7 AP classes, all honors (outside of AP).

@Lali50 She didn’t send ACT or SAT?

So…I can absolutely confirm this is a “thing” in some spots in NJ. My niece applied ED from an absolute top prep school in NJ. 1560 SAT, 800’s on 2 SAT II’s and excellent grades with very high rigor. She absolutely loved Wake on her visit, and decided to apply ED1. Straight rejected. College counseling office was a bit circumspect with my brother and his wife initially, but did say they have trouble getting deserving kids accepted there.

She’s at Wash U and happy, but was really upset when she was rejected. She fell in love with Wake and really felt her numbers put her in a strong spot. The rejection, and not a deferral, felt like a slap at the HS rather than the student.

@ny2020ny for 2023 Wake accepted 8 out 14 applicants (2 ED, 6 RD) from our NJ school including my DD who is currently there. Wash U has rejected almost all applicants from our school, including my DD who applied EDII. Others that don’t accept anyone from our school are Vanderbilt and Northwestern.

Hi guys !! I just got accepted to WFU ED1. I applied on 10/30 and all the boxes were checked off at 11/7. I got my decision 11/27 via the portal. I checked and it said that I had a status update and it was my acceptance! Hopefully the letter is coming soon. Congrats to all & if you have any questions about my stats feel free to let me know. GO DEACS !!!

So what were your stats?

My D applied RD but submitted it in on 11/15. I assume she won’t hear anything until much later, but is that true? Do they send acceptances to RD’s on a rolling basis or is there a specific date she will find out?
