Wanted: Desperate Housewives Fans To Ride The Series Out!

We have several tv threads on CC. Just watched last nights episode of DH and with all the developments decided I needed some other fans to chat it up with for the remaining episodes!

I’ve been a fan from the beginning. It’s exactly what they promote it as: a guilty pleasure! Initially watched it alone after the kids went to bed. Then brought in my oldest D when she was a teen and we would hide out on the “2nd” tv room to watch it. She is out of the house now so have invited my freshman in high school D to watch with me (we are watching the first and the final season at the same time!)

Hoping some of you will join me to talk as the series wraps up. Consider this a SPOILER thread for episodes airing. :)

I’m a fan. I thought it got a little uneven for awhile (last year?) but this year has been great. The Terry Hatcher character (Susan) can be too silly for my tastes at times, but I love the other characters. I am always amazed at how their children conveniently disappear for episodes on end!

So, last nights episode…yikes! The father of Julie’s baby?! Crazy!

Thoughts on orson’s plan? I was so excited to see him back last week , now I know he is totally up to no good. I think he’s going to hold Bree hostage at the cabin. I have another theory about him too. Actually several! Do you think he killed chuck? He clearly has been stalking Bree for awhile.

I had read that the producer mark cherry said that he knew 7 1/2 years ago how the series will end. Also read that one major character will die before the end of this year, I believe. I heard in march. Someone other than mrs. Mccloskey?

(typing on my iPad so please excuse spelling errors!)

Who’s in for DH discussion???

Bree’s son Andrew has long been a favorite of. One - I’ve always had a soft spot for him. Hope he returns before the end ( and in a happy manner!)

I’ve been watching since the very beginning. I still miss Edie Britt, who was over the top funny.
At this point, I am seriously creeped out by Orsen. And I wish Susan would stop trying to make Julie’s decisions for her.
I hope they don’t kill off Karen McCloskey- she’s one of my favorites!

Also a fan of DH from the beginning and agree that last season was a bit sketchy, but have enjoyed this season very much. It’s a soap opera, pure and simple. It is quite possible that Orson killed Chuck out of jealousy. I expect the girls will save Bree from Orson because deep friendship among women is the overlying theme of the series. Mrs. McCloskey’s upcoming struggles surprise me. I really like her. Would like to see them bring back Alfre Woodard’s character. As I remember, it seems they left that door open a bit…not sure.

Any other ‘open doors’ that might be closed (or re-opened)this season?

He totally killed Chuck. I was surprised they didn’t show it. This will be a fun thread!

Allright - I’ll confess, I’ve seen every episode since the beginning. I dvr it and watch it when no one else is around. I don’t get why they all turned on Bree - I actually agree with Orson on that one. Of course he was the one who left the note and killed the cop.

Do we think Julie will end up keeping the baby? Why come home if you don’t want anyone to know or disagree with the decision?

I can’t wait to see how it all pans out. I feel bad Gabrielle kept Mrs McCloskey from old whatshisname.

Alright! So glad to have found some of you to chat this,up with!

Parker and Julie? For someone so smart and know-it-all she really screwed that one up!

There are so many things that could happen. I’m worried about mike. I know he has a dark past, but he’s such a nice guy! And what do you think the significance of Carlos in rehab is - it seems that it is finally giving gabby a chance to get a handle on things - her kids, the business, etc.

I watch DH because it is an escape. I try not to think too much about the unlikelihood of a lot of it all. Being a long-married working mom, I really want to like Lynette, but she is so manipulative. I am eager to see how it is all wrapped up. I wish Mrs. M. did not have to get sick and be apart from her man!

I sat next to Vanessa Williams in high school orchestra for three years, so I have especially enjoyed DH since she joined the cast. She was a really talented high school kid - voice, french horn, and acting. Her parents were both public school music teachers and she raised her older three kids in our home town. I remain a big fan of hers and am happy for her well deserved success!

I watched the first few episodes, but am no good with shows you to keep up with. What ever happened to those “bad” little boys, whose mother took their ADHD meds?

Shrink, those bad boys just reshowed after getting kicked out of their apartment! And , one of them apparently is the father of Susan’s daughter (who also just reappeared) Julie’s baby!

Momof2 that’s pretty cool!

Love the show. How old is Julie - she was Parker’s babysitter? It will be interesting to see what Orson is up to - I agree, likely he will hold Bree hostage. I love the ridiculous improbability of everything and still miss Edie! From the previews - it looks like Tom and Lynette will get back together? I did not like the new girlfriend.

^^ Great day in the morning! How long has it been?? How OLD are they supposed to BE?

DH and I only started watching a year or two ago. We do enjoy it! Glad to see this thread here to discuss…

My guess is that Julie is a couple of years older than Parker - so she’s like grad student age, he’s like undergraduate age (haha - I’m talking in CC language!)

Sounds like it was clearly a one night stand…of course you’ve got to wonder - why would she come to Wisteria Lane to wait out the last 3 months - right next door to Parker’s family!!! But that is what I like about the show - it’s ENOUGH like real life, but much of it is NOT real life!!! I told both my D’s when they started watching with me at like age 14 - “now, this is fun to watch, but real life people should not/hopefully do not actually live this way!”

I just think the doors are open for just about ANY character to bite the dust - I would think that it would not be one of the 4 women. But besides that, I could see many others meeting their demise - Mike, Carlos, Julie, Aussie, Renee (why would she have that guy meet her at her house to give him the check??!), Mrs. McC, Roy - -and I’ll bet Paul shows up again before it’s all over…

As I think I mentioned earlier, since I just brought my 14 year old in on the show, we are watching this season and I also bought the first season so we are watching that as well - VERY interesting how so much of what is happening now ties into that first season. Very clever.

My H and I started watching it (reruns) when we lived in Switzerland in 2006 and learned that our good friends were addicted to it, so we watched it together every week. When we returned to the US we were hooked.

It is so unlike real life that it’s a great escape!

The mortality rate on that street is ridiculous. You’d think the authorities would have noticed IRL :)

I can’t stand Orson and am not glad they brought him back.

I wonder if Orson will turn out to be the original stalker that sent Mary Alice the note that drove her to suicide. If you remember, he was a dentist in town.

There is a website that a friend directed me to that had lots of the plot twists for this year and so far, they are correct. (father of Julie’s baby & Karen Mc’s cancer are the ones I remember).

I used to like Susan, but she’s too needy and stupid. (giving a check a few weeks ago with her name & address??). I’ve also become bored with Lynette & Tom.

Agree that losing Edde was a big blow.

Parker is the younger son, I think he’s still in high school. The twins are Preston and Porter, I think the latter is the father of Julie’s baby. Too many P names. :)

I didn’t like Orson but I thought him coming back was cool just for the surprise factor. Now that it’s becoming clear that his motives are not good I am already bored with him. I am sure he killed Chuck. My mom and I had a heated debate going about all the different possibilities for that one… I was hoping it was Tom. :P
