D and I watched it last night. D was a big fan of Sam’s and said she really missed him on the show. I loved the Anything Goes and Hairspray numbers, but again musical theatre is my first love. D didn’t like the songs as much this week except for the Go Go’s number.

I also didn’t think the show had much “meat” to it, but it was fun for us to have Glee back!

She was impressive! And the Ethel Merman part of that was perfect for her. But I thought the tap dancing was rudimentary – not worth including if that’s all they could offer.

She tossed a cigarette. That piano was doused with something flammable to go up like that. Sue made a comment about something flammable later in the show. But Santana also kind of smiled when it went up. I think they’ve kind of ruined Sue. Her antics don’t help the show.

I agree with the grade of “B”, and that Sue is getting to be a bit much. However, I could watch Blaine/Darren Criss all day!–Glad he seems to be a regular now.

Lindsey, the girl who sang the lead in “Anything Goes” number was indeed a Glee Project participant, but NOT the winner. She was one of 4 finalists. There were two co-winners (2 guys…Damien McGinty and Sam somebody…I can’t wait to see Damian!!!) and two runners-up. Both runners-up were unexpectedly given a 3-show appearance contract and this was Lindsey’s first one. The two co-winners will appear on at least 7 shows each. Though I am hoping Damian (a delightful irish guy who was a performer with Celtic Thunder from the time he was very young—he is only 18 now, I believe) will become a long-term cast member.

Can you tell we REALLY enjoyed watching the Glee Project last summer?? :)

So-So episode. Enjoyed the “Hairspray” and “Anything Goes” numbers, but not a lot of wit or sparkle in the plot. Love seeing Blaine and miss Sam.

I can’t wait to see the other “winner” Sam on the show. Expect swooning, possible bad boy with a heart of gold script for him. Damien is adorable too, and can be the foreign exchange student.

I miss Sam, too. I heard Chord has a part on another show now.

Santana distracted the rest of the glee club with her dancing while the Cheerios danced around the piano and squirted liquid on it and Quinn lit the fire.

Was one of the songs from the play Wicked? I am thinking of seeing that play next year.

Shyanne–if I’m not mistaken, Kurt and Rachel’s song was from “The Wiz”, another remake of The Wizard of Oz.

I thought it was okay. I agree that they’ve lost the magic of the first season, and I have a feeling this will be the last season I really watch. I just can’t see it being as good once Kurt, Rachel and Finn “Graduate”.

I’m not sure why Kurt chose the Funny Girl song for an audition for West Side Story. Isn’t it expected that one actually sing a song from the musical? It seems odd to me that Rachel’s mom would return to town and mess with Beth’s parents’ heads. And Rachel’s. I cried during the “Somewhere” song even though that’s not how it’s sung in the play. It was a good episode I thought, if somewhat unrealistic.

mimk6 - In “real” auditions you normally don’t sing a song from the musical you’re auditioning for, but choose a song that is similar to those in the musical you’re attempting to be cast in.

Thanks, showmom. When I was in high school, at a school with an amazing performing arts program, you always had to audition with a song from the musical. That’s why I thought that it was odd.
