I loved the Nationals episode and didn’t like the graduation episode. Most of the music was completely forgettable. Brittney has a 0.0 but is class president and gets to be in glee? At what school does that happen? And how come everyone tried to help Puck graduate but there was no one helping Brittney? The graduation itself was ridiculous with people bursting onto the stage like it was a show. No backup plan for Kurt? I did like that Finn put Rachel on the train and that we saw her get to NY. I’m not sure what Santana is going to do there – when did NY become her dream?

I haven’t watched it yet, but LOL. I guess it shows the value of a really compelling essay.

I guess No Pass/No Play hasn’t made it up to Ohio.

The show is too campy to be realistic. Brittany (heather Morris) is the best dancer so they need her another year. It’s silly, like a comic book.

I too was totally underwhelmed by this episode. Characters who will likely only be coming in on guest roles got very little attention (Mercedes, Mike), and as usual it was all about Rachel. I was also really put out that Kurt was turned down. I won’t go on as others have expressed it well…but it was long overdue for Kurt to have a ‘win’.

I was able to buy into the split show in NYC next season when we thought that several characters would be there (Kurt, Finn, Rachel). Now, unless Kurt decides to go to pursue other training and opportunities, it’s a one woman show in NYC, all Rachel, all the time. I think I’ll pass. Granted we had a last minute change that Santana is supposed to be in NYC, but I highly doubt she’ll get any decent air time against Rachel.

My son thinks that what happened to Kurt is the equivalent of getting a “likely” letter and then being denied.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Kurt. In my fantasies he takes a day trip to Oberlin and throws themselves on their mercy and they make space in their Musical Theater Program.

Lots of talent comes out of regional programs. It’s not all NY and LA. But of course, it’s too late for this school year since letters came so late.

Kurt will still have Blaine, which is a big win.

Okay, I watched it last night. Not even a lump in my throat, much less tears.

I was really hoping that someone would sing To Sir with Love.

Although we loved her the first season, I am so sick of Lea Michelle.

The remaining juniors are a pretty quiet group, as far as the personalities that have been written for them.

My tolerance for her has just gone down and down. I think it’s a combination overexposure (I tune out every time she sings now), what I consider the most toxic and annoying relationship on the show, and a character that is starting to just seem self-centered and immature.

I really like the show and there are a lot of characters that I would love to see more of (and I love how we got the most focus and closure on one of the characters who we know is guaranteed to be back as a regular with a lot of screentime next year) but at this point I ignore Rachel most of the time. That’s when I go to refill my drink.

Hm. Well, I do understand that Rachel’s character can be annoying, but to me Lea Michele does seem like the star of the show, and the performer with the most talent and experience.

When I watched The Glee Project last summer the professionals seem to suggest that the kind of single mindedness Rachel has is necessary for the theater. I don’t find it attractive myself, but I understand it.

I understand what you all are saying, but I think the biggest problem has been with the music selection. There have been a lot of limp and boring ballads. I can’t figure out why. I know it’s Nikki Anders choice. Hm.

I’ve heard that Ryan Murphy picks every song, but I don’t know. I realize that Lea has a really talented voice, but my personal preference is that I’d rather hear Amber, Naya, Chris, or Darren sing. To me, their voices are more interesting.

I realize that this is really about individual taste and Lea/Rachel has a LOT of fans and my well be the most popular character on the show. And she is very talented. I personally would just like to see less of her because the character has just started annoying me and it feels like she’s singing constantly. When she’s singing lead on two out of three songs at two out of three of their performance, she doesn’t have that special moment anymore. “Don’t Rain on My Parade” was that. It can’t happen with the slow ballad every competition.

I’m not sure that a lot of Rachel’s single-mindedness is really about theater, though; it’s very much about her. She spends significant amounts of time doing things like practicing Tony acceptance speeches and I don’t see her as someone who would happily accept a role in the chorus and pay her dues.

I was amused Rachel came into Grand Central, which is only a commuter train station. (Amtrak uses Penn Station, which is ugly…). Then they show her walking down 42nd street (with a 360 panning shot at 6th Ave), then she is walking along a street w theaters. (I wonder if this was 49th street, where the Eugene O’Neil theater is, where she starred in Spring Awakening?). Then she’s at the Plaza at 59th & 5th. A bit of a circuitous route w her luggage and why weren’t the dads there to meet her!

I thought the little luggage bag was funny. Not even international students travel with one little bag like that. You just have to tell yourself that it really, really isn’t real! ;)

Well, maybe the reason for the one bag was that someone else packed it for her since she didn’t realize she would be heading to New York instead of her wedding. I guess her dads would bring the rest of her stuff. And yes, it was weird that her dads weren’t around.

I think the best comment above is, “It’s not real.” I couldn’t watch the show at first because of Sue Sylvester and her meanness (which has abated) and its completely camp archness. But my D bugged me and bugged me because she admires the way the show takes on bullying as its central theme.

I can see where Rachel is annoying.

I don’t much on the show is real, so I take it all with a grain of thought.

It is funny how Hollywood treats NY geography. In WHEN HARRY MET SALLY, a NY film if there ever was one, written by uber NY’er Nora Ephron, Harry is running through Manhattan intercut with some shots of Brooklyn. I only know this because he runs right by my D’s friend’s brownstone and she pointed it out.

People go from uptown to downtown in a blink; it’s always pretty silly.

And Grand Central is, well, Grand.

Not all that excited about the new season of Glee.

However, I did just read that Jonathan Groff is dating Zach Quinto. If they could have kids together, how crazy attractive would they be?

Has anyone else been watching The Glee Project? I watch it–and Glee–on Hulu, so there’s a significant delay. It will be interesting to see if they do a better job of using the eventual winners than they did last year.

I love the Glee Project (see it on Hulu too). The Irish kid from last season is a member of Celtic Thunder–look it up on Youtube. Watch “Place in the Choir”. Really great!
I hope they use the winner better this time around also.

Wow, missiepie, that is one attractive couple. If they weren’t both young enough to be my sons, I would be jealous. :D

We watched the premiere last night and I was fully expecting to not like it and to give up on Glee.

But, darn it, they got me again. Of course it’s still “out there” (with orchestras suddenly appearing to accompany a spontaneous sing-off), but I can embrace that this is how the kids hear themselves. What I loved were the story lines (love the girl with the lunch lady mom) and that new characters were introduced. I hate that they don’t have Damien McGinty back, but for me Alex (I believe that is his name), AKA “Unique” was surprisingly good.

We will see how the season progresses…

I was surprised by the use of Kate Hudson as Rachel’s new foil ( the dance teacher who has it out for her). I like that actress and knew she could dance and sing (Nine) but would not have figured her for a small screen character. I like the new glee girl, fresh look. Im kind of sick of the glee kids all turning into Divas.
