Way to go, Mavs!

Mavs has some seasoned players who stay cool while Miami is too young. MVP Dirk reminds me of Larry Bird.

Congrats to the Mavs! Heat will use this like the 2006 Mavs Finals loss to get better. My homie the JET has flown under the radar and has now won states, NCAA and the NBA. Clutch!!!

Yay Mavs!!!

Mark Cuban has been good for the sport of basketball. I love how he sits with us common folks-- in the stands. I missed game 6, along with Magic’s analysis. Hope he hit the point that one superstar (Dirk), along with many good players around that one person, can win in the NBA. Donald Stern must really be breathing a sigh of relief that high-priced “trifectas” are not always the necessary formula. I’m also happy for Jason Kidd. He hasn’t always led a perfect life or carried himself as others would like, but the “kidd” I saw in high school and who worked for me (he was one of our prom reps) was a good kid way back when.

What is the difference between LeBron and a dollar?

With a dollar you get a fourth quarter.
Sorry, we are from northeast Ohio. Go Mav’s!

I did love the Cavs for Mavs phenomenom. Texans thank you.

I am going to Dallas next week…at least the hospitality folks I run into will be in good moods! It is good to have happy waiters/waitresses!

Lol, I spoke with a customer service rep. on the phone today and I couldn’t quite understand what he was saying and then he said something about “did you see the game last night?”. I said oh, the basketball game? Then I realized his company was based in Texas! So I congratulated him. He was really happy!

I talked to customer service in Columbus, Ohio today - they were in glee!

I have yet to meet a person who wasn’t rooting for the Mavs. Did even the residents of Miami want to the the Heat lose?

South Florida resident here. Not a basketball fan, but I did tune in to the last 5 minutes or so of each game hoping for a Miami win. The Heat fans down here are rabid and extremely loyal. Our hopes were raised by the performance of the team all season so it was a huge disappointment when they lost.

I don’t get the Heat hate myself. Lebron James didn’t owe anything to Cleveland. He was free to leave and seek a better opportunity for himself with another team. He may not have been humble about it, but that was his worst sin. His bragging about taking his talents to South Beach sure came back to bite him in the butt, though.

Absolutely true! But he could have conducted himself with a little more class during the process. A one hour tv special about himself to announce his decision? Please. He couldn’t have informed Cleveland management of his decision before he announced it to the world?

Anyway, I heard it was Lebron James day in Cleveland - everyone could quit 12 minutes early :)!

Congrats to the Mavs fans. (I stopped watching after the Celtics were out)

Resolution of the day, from our Ohio governor.
<a href=“Governor Mike DeWine”>Governor Mike DeWine;

Cavs for Mavs

Anyone who thinks that the issue is that Lebron left the Cavs, not how he left them, is willfully not paying attention. Add his classless spectacle to the hubris of the super-team that must win, = everyone I know being a Mav fan. It just had a karmic perfection that we always hope for but don’t always get.

OHioans–I heard you were calling yourselves the Mavaliers fans. :)

“his classless spectacle to the hubris of the super-team that must win”

Oh, the three of them making their debut amid smoke and lights (what about the rest of the team?), talking about a dynasty before they’d won one game, the celebrations after winning in the early rounds…it’s not how real champions act.

kitty, that joke made my day! It went straight up as my FB status.

Love that resolution by the Ohio governor. Yes indeed, the issue wasn’t as much the fact that James left the Cavs, it’s how he did so. Judging from the hang dog expression on his face after the NBA finals, this is going to haunt him for awhile, as well it should.

kitty, that joke will become a classic.

There’s a funny, if mean, piece on youtube right now called Lebron James: The new decision. Talk about ouch!

Big stars go free agent and jump to other teams all the time and don’t engender anywhere near this level of hate. It’s obvious why this one is different.

To begin with, people don’t like it much when one rich team tries to buy up all the talent. That’s the way the NY Yankees operate, and people have been hating them for decades because of it.

Secondly is the way it was done - no respect shown for Cleveland, just a lot of over the top events, bragging, and predictions of domination and great triumphs to come.

Add those two up and it’s becomes so sweet to see them brought down. The Greeks had it figured out 25 centuries ago - The Gods Hate Hubris.
