Hi, there I just need some help. This past spring semester was not my best semester, I did quite poorly in a few classes of mine, do to an erratic work schedule. I use to work a job that had the on-call hours and that really affected my performance in school this semester and since I did poorly I feel like I will never get out of community college and on to university. Does anyone ever feel like this, where you do so poorly that you loose hope with the rest of your college career?
Can you change your job, book hours in the library or tutoring center, find a mentoring group on campus, master time management? Jobs with college can be very hard to balance. Talk to an advisor now for help.
As dyiu13 says, take advantage of your advising and counseling offices at your college. They will sit down with you and help you set up a plan that will put you on a path to success. Your tuition is paying for this service so use it! DO NOT LOSE HOPE!! You may have to accept certain realities, like going to school part-time or changing your job, and it may take longer than you had hoped to move onto a four-year school, but many students are in your position. There is no contest here for finishing “on time,” and “on time” is a relative term anyway. What you do not want to do is continue to balance work and school the way you have been; that is not going to go well, as you have learned, and will lead to a downward spiral. Good luck to you!
