Weight Loss Buddy Check In

Goal -10
Loss -2 (steady despite travel and restaurant eating, so at least that)
Calories-not tracking, trying to eat five fruits or veggies a day
Exercise-steady with the 4x swim 3x run but run distances are up for August

So the summary is…steady.

Late to the party, but I’ll join ya’ll! I decided to get my act together early June so my goal is starting from that weight.

Goal – 30
Loss to date – 18
Calories – I don’t track calories. I’m going low carb and avoiding processed foods. This is not my first weight loss rodeo and that’s what works for me. I weigh food to keep an eye on portions. I should do a better job tracking food and will if I start to stall. So far it’s been about 2 lbs. a week.
Exercise – I had a pretty bad accident three weeks ago that sidelined me for a while. I started back with cardio last week and did weights for the first time today. I didn’t push it and it felt okay.

My husband has the metabolism of a hummingbird and I need to constantly remind myself that there’s no way I can keep up with him. I work from home so am the one doing the cooking. We both love most vegetables, so have found common ground with veggies & lean protein. He brings in fast food once or twice a week. I just look the other way.

Wednesday is my weekly weigh-in day on the accurate medical scale near the work cafeteria

Goal: -15
progress: -4 (about same as last week)

Calories: 1064**
Exercise: none, other than 4600 steps at work etc

I would have liked to see some more weight loss, but for now I’m not too concerned. The efforts have been getting me into healthier habits for exercise and eating.

** .41g fat (5 under target), 119g carbs (15 under), 45g protein (15 under, but other days I’ve been over)

Last Friday I decided to pay the $8.99 for a month of the premium version of MyNetDiary. (I was not ready to pay $59 for a year without trying it, and perhaps I will only use it a month or two anyway). I highly recommend even the free version for food/calorie/etc tracking. I’ve been astounded by how many foods, including packaged things like stuff I get at Sams, are already built in. Love how it does all the breakdowns and math for me. In the paid version, it also makes recommendations - example: add more morning carbs.

Very late to the party, but so inspired by this thread. I finally hit the wall the other day and decided I needed to lose some weight and get healthy. I’d love to lose about thirty pounds and keep it off this time. I have done Weight Watchers many times and lost a lot of weight easily, but always put it back on. This time I know it has to be something I stick with forever…a lifestyle change. I’ve only been doing this since Sunday, but I feel very motivated. I have a lot of health problems that I’m sure will be helped by weight loss. I’m tracking on sparkpeople, trying to keep to 1200-1500 calories and walking my dog. I hope to add more exercise.

Welcome, @aMacMom and @ams5796! I do feel that at last my motivation is more health than vanity. (Hoping that is more powerful as apparently I was not vain enough to keep myself from getting to 250 pounds.) My knees are much happier at 195, and they should be delirious with joy when I get to my goal of 150!

Thanks yauponredux! I also love the thought of looking better. I saw an old friend last week who lost about thirty pounds and she looked fantastic. She’s pushing sixty, but looked much younger and fashionable. I was insanely jealous! She has been walking A LOT every day and has cut out carbs and sugar. Her husband just got diagnosed with diabetes so she revamped their meals and they’re now both super healthy. I don’t want to start wearing old lady baggy clothes. Weight is very aging from both a vanity and a health stand point. These days I worry about my health and losing weight would probably solve a lot of health problems. Wow, you’ve made great progress!

Goal: -30 lbs.
Loss: -1
Exercise: walking my dog, fit bit, need to do more
Calories: 1200-1500 using sparkpeople

Trying to eat in the high end of that range. I tend to get obsessive on diets, lose the weight fast, feel deprived and gain it all back. Trying to eat in a way that I could continue forever.

@aMacMom. the metabolism of a hummingbird, I love it!! Mine is like that too and it drives me crazy. Welcome to the party.

Weigh in day is tomorrow but as of right now–
Goal -17
Loss- still the same -12.5 (no change from last week)
Exercise-this week bike riding, body pump, barre, spin
Calories-WW 30 points/day

I need to start tracking more strictly again.

Goal: -30 lbs.
Loss: I was at -15 but went on vacation for a week. At -12 when I returned. Sigh. Working on re-losing those 3 pounds.

Exercise: I got a lot more exercise than usual while on vacation in Hawaii – snorkeling every day plus some strenuous hikes. How much weight can you lose from a sunburn peeling?
Calories: I ate more on vacation and didn’t track calories. Back to 1200 calories/day now.

@3girls3cats Thanks for understanding my pain. I don’t know why it’s taken me 30+ years to come to terms with it. We were Jack Sprat & his wife for years when I went low carb and he was low fat. I’ve gotten him to see the downfalls of non/low fat foods that pump up the sugar to compensate. And I try to keep fats to healthy fats and not to an excess.

My official weigh in day is Friday, but I jump on the scale most mornings. Was up almost 2lbs this morning from the day before which I attribute to restarting weight training yesterday. I’m assuming it’s temporary inflammation as I didn’t go off the rails eating-wise.

Well yuck. I am up .2 this week. I’m not frustrated quite the way I was back when I started this journey in April but yeah, it’s still frustrating. I can’t believe how grudgingly my body lets go of weight. Since this is a check in thread, I’ll stop here.

Although my weekly weigh-in was same as last week, I have been encouraged by the fact that I am able to wear my favorite blue pants that have been too tight for the past year (or maybe two years).

Goal -15
loss -5
calories 1200
exercise elliptical

Goal -32 (approx. will reevaluate once I get there)
Progress so far -21
This week -4!!!

Don’t track calories, but I’ve been eating smart.
Exercise: Hit the gym hard this week with cardio 6 days (between a half hour to an hour depending if I’m doing weights or not). Mostly stationary bike doing hills or intervals, or elliptical. Also did full body weight training two times.

I haven’t tracked for several days and weight is moving down slowly. I’m hoping for a drop this week as I’m feeling like I’m making good food choices.
I’m down several inches in my hips and it shows in my pants. Waist line is less but I still am most unhappy with the extra around the middle.
I have a repairman tomorrow morning. I’m hoping to have him out of my house by the time I need to head to the gym for my class.
Last week I made it to the gym 4 days. Hoping for the same this week. I should add some walking in on the other days.

I was happy when I got on the scale this morning. I have a feeling I’m not going to lose as quickly as I’d like to or as quickly as I have on other “diets” in the past. Since that hasn’t worked out for me my approach this time is to make small important changes that I will be able to live with for the rest of my life. The only problem I see with that is that it’s sometimes hard for me to stay motivated without seeing consistent progress. I’m tracking to stay between 1200 and 1500 calories, have given up diet soda, and am walking every day.

Goal- continue to lose around a lb a week.
Didn’t weigh myself today but yesterday I weighed the same as Friday which was a first as I usually gain some water weight over the weekend.
Hips are down 2 inches, waist just 1
Exercise- 50 minutes on the bike, 1 hr dance class, 15 minutes on various weight machines
Calories- so far so good. On west coast so I haven’t had dinner yet but I’m on track to stay at 1200.

Goal -15
Loss-6!!! finally some movement
weighed 1.4 more at the doctors today dressed so guessing my scales
are correct

Down two pounds this week. Will be traveling in the weeks to come as my dad fell over the weekend and I don’t think the CCRC will let him back into independent living (a good thing as my mom has become isolated not wanting to leave him- he has some dementia). Feeling the temptation to stress eat. Need to be over on the parents caring for parents thread!

Weekly progress check

Goal: -15
progress: -5

Calories (avg): 1442 **
Exercise (avg): 282 ** (running)

** 7 day averages from MyNetDiary app. (Calorie average skewed up by a fantastic birthday dinner out). As a data geek, I am enjoying the app’s charts, nutrition suggestions etc. It very easy to input food - tonight it was even able to find the chopped asian salad I bought at Sam’s.
