What are you doing for July 4th weekend?

For me it marks the middle of summer season.
Good weekend for summer shopping.
A great time to enjoy all the fresh summer fruits and vegetables of the season. (got my first batch of cherries)
A time for swimming, picnics, fireworks, grilling, and just enjoying the outdoors.
A time to just kick back and relax and not worry about anything else.
If you have something special on your menu feel free to share the recipe.

Here, the 4th is the beginning of our summer.

Make sour cherry pie. And watch fireworks on the beach. Our son is coming up from VA because he’s getting four days leave. Yay!

A few weekend work projects and then a BBQ at a friend’s house.

Also had some tentative plans to go visit DC with some friends for a part of the weekend, but scheduling conflicts scrapped that.

July 4th is a Tuesday…so no “weekend” here.

We will have a picnic supper that evening with friends, most likely…and watch some small local fireworks.

BBQ at a neighbor’s house, and our town has a cute little parade (the kind with a “patriotic dogs” section). Then, pack for a trip to DC.

This is the first time in four years that I’m actually in the United State on July 4 so I have this vaguely nagging feeling that I should do something big.

Hiking. Super cleaning my apartment. :frowning:

DC gets really crowded on July 4th. So many tourists.

Probably grilling and baseball.

I need a red, white, and blue dessert. Probably something with blueberries, strawberries, and cool whip

We will be having a surprise party. It should be great fun!

I’ve made one of those flag cakes many times for July 4th - the ones with the blueberries and strawberries and a simple sheet cake and whipped cream frosting. Or you can make a berry trifle. For either, skip the cool whip and use real, homemade whipped cream. So easy and so tasty.

Probably go for pancakes on the pier then we’re invited on a friend’s boat on the bay for the evening. We might be able to see the Sea World fireworks.

Before we moved here, I never dreamed I would ever be saying anything like this!

We are on vacation in Bermuda so it will be a beach weekend for us. We are heading home July 4th.

Volunteering at the national park and early morning walks with our dog. No fireworks here- too hot and dry.

Common wisdom in Maine is that the Fourth of July IS summer here. Period. Winter, mud season, Fourth of July, fall.

I am hosting my son, his fiancee, and her mother for five days. ~X(

@veryhappy She must be very nice. Seems like you are looking forward to it.

Playing bridge all week at a tournament right outside DC. Same way I’ve “celebrated” for the last several years! It used to be at a hotel from which we could view the fireworks, but not any more.

We will be at our weekend place on the water. One daughter, some extended family, and maybe a dog or two.

I have to (virtually) work a few hours on Monday (thank you, accounting calendar), but will otherwise be relaxing til the 5th.

If there’s good weather, which is not a given at the beginning of July in the PNW, we’ll do some kayaking, sailing in the dinghy, eat, and drink. No fireworks other than what we might see from a distance.
