What are you doing today?

I’m awaiting the tree guys to come and cut up the humongous tree that fell during our Saturday night windstorm.

Then, to the library to return some books, to Goodwill to drop off some ■■■■, to Nordstrom to return a pair of shorts I bought last January and never wore. And to our local fancy schmancy men’s salon to get a gift certificate for DH for Father’s Day. He desperately needs a pedicure.

A great exercise class this morning - at the instructor’s insistence that women can lift a lot more than they think they can (she reminded us we lift heavy shopping bags) I went heavier on my weights. I may feel it more tomorrow but it feels good now. Made a nice lunch - couscous salad and fresh strawberries (picked by me last week). I’ve recently gotten into my family history related to the change in who is eligible for Canadian citizenship - my great grandparents were born in Canada. Going to the local college library this afternoon to use their subscription to Ancestry.com to do some more research.

Today was a bit more eventful than usual - walked with Sabapup, went to the gym, then to a free lunchtime concert. We have a week long Bach festival every year that I’ve never been able to attend because of working or H’s various issues last year. Thoroughly enjoyable performance of the Goldberg Variations and a few other pieces. We then walked over to our favorite wood-fired pizza place for lunch where I did not have pizza but rather a plate of arugula, burrata, tomatoes and toasted bread. Tomorrow is busy so the rest of today will be slow.

I’m sitting in the 5th wheel, across from the ocean, watching the rain pour from the skies. The wind picked up earlier and then the power went out. A couple of the lights run off propane, and the stove and heater do as well, so we will at least be able to survive, haha, til it comes back on.

As always, I have plenty of non-ebooks to read, thank the lord.

We did a nice drive down the coast yesterday, knowing that the forecast for today was rain all day

Fingers crossed the power comes back sometime today.

:tada::tada: power is back! For now, anyway.

That meal sounds amazing and a rival to any pizza!

Today I walked which is what I do most days. I faithfully take the time to do it.

Picked up lunch for my husband and I. He was playing golf.

Played mahjong in the afternoon. I usually play at the senior center, today was a special event fundraiser.

It was one of the most frustrating days of mahjong. I sat with a person who didn’t have anyone at her table, being nice so she didn’t feel left out. I had to remind her of the rules on every hand. Not hard things like you can’t use jokers on pairs or you can’t pick up a tile for a pair. No things like you need to deal and exchange tiles. Which is fine. Once! Not every single hand!

It was also so warm in the room!

The only reason I was going was to pick up my friend who is using a walker. She decided she wasn’t feeling well enough to go. I was picking up other ladies so I couldn’t bail.

Now I’m home, going out for ice cream because it was that kind of afternoon!

I had planned to spend the day at the beach, and while the weather was beautiful (sunny and 70) it was too windy to spend the day on the beach. I took my dog for an hour long walk then had a leisurely morning. S23, who is living at the beach while working in a nearby city, had the day off. After lunch, he and I decided to drive to the outlets in Delaware b/c he needed a few things - no sales tax in DE! It was a 50 min drive along the coast so b/w the drive and shopping, that was most of the afternoon. It was nice having the one on one time with him.

DH was finished with work when we got back. We went mini-golfing, and tho DH and S23 are avid golfers (I don’t play), I had a respectable game and did not finish too far behind them. S23 had two holes in one and Dh had one. I had none but still played well. It was fun! We stopped for a bite to eat afterward.

I drove home tonight but DH stayed another night. Made a big dent in my super long audiobook, The Calamity Club. Already more than 80% finished. Fortunately my dog, who gets carsick, was fine on the way back.

I am currently sitting in the Spanish Village Art Center in Balboa Park, enjoying a mocha frappe from my favorite coffee cart.

I took myself to the zoo to use my membership for a change, and to take advantage of the free parking. And to get some exercise also for a change.

The excursion took one wrong turn where I accidentally tried to get into the Naval Hospital and had to get my id checked before they would let me U-turn away. I also got myself vaguely lost in the zoo when I decided to go the side I seldom go to and ended up where all the paths to leave involved up stairs and going up paths instead of down. But I did see lots of lovely flora and fauna.

Had the granite countertops I posted about last season installed in the cabin kitchen today. The finished product looks almost exactly like the rendering ChatGPT produced from a pic of the Formica countertop and a pic of the matte granite slab I took at the fabricator’s last year.

Before (Formica with sink overmounted):

After (granite with sink undermounted):

ChatGPT rendering last year:

Love the newly undermounted sink (hated the old lip).

Went to the dentist…woohoo! Then down to the lake to relax with friends. Getting ready to go to watercolor class. I think we are painting hydrangea!

When I get home, I need to do the minutes from a meeting held last night.

Went out to breakfast because we had no power from 5:45-9:45am. After breakfast, went home and then a quick trip to Costco to buy a rotisserie chicken, coffee pods (for H), eggs, & Cosmic apples (on $1 off discount). We were trying to buy Tuscan melons but the stocker advised against it because he said they were all moldy. Boo! Deboned the chicken, put much of it in a covered dish and refrigerated, had a nice lunch of chicken, toast with thin wafers of Danish dark chocolate, apples and mandarin orange.

Now, I have to get to the library to pick up my book on hold and a make a stop at the bank and also the post office (supposedly got some mail delivered to my P O Box for our nonprofit).

When we get around to it, we need to wash our clothes from our trip, but it’s not urgent, since it isn’t clothes we wear around here—clothing to keep us warm in cold weather.

Haha—while at the library, I stopped by the “friends” booksale and paid $2.50 for 2 books and got 4 more for free, so 6 books for $2.50! Also picked up my reserve book and ran my other errands. When I got home, my lens popped out of my glasses, so now I have to go back to Costco to get it repaired! Bother! In the meantime, I have spare glasses I can wear.

Went for a walk – it’s been beautiful weather! Then to the gym. Then I single handedly brought up our old, falling apart wicker furniture from the basement and set it out in the backyard. Took a bunch of photos and posted it for free on Facebook Marketplace. I got 11 responses within 15 minutes!! I gave it to a lovely young couple trying to buy their first house. I reminded them that it’s not in good condition and made sure they had seen the photos. The husband: It will be perfect until the next one comes along! They were delightful and I’m thrilled I was able to make their day.

@Marilyn I love the Spanish Village Art Center! D27 lives a block south of Balboa Park and it’s one of my favorite places to visit. I’ve bought some really cool things at the Art Center.

I was woken up at 5:30am to a butt dial phone call from DH. He was driving home from the beach early this morning so when I heard my phone, I was worried something was wrong. He didn’t respond when I answered. i hung up and called back and he apologized and said was getting coffee (um, thx for waking me up!). Normally I can easily fall back asleep but my adrenaline must have been racing thinking something happened and I never fell back asleep.

I had to work today so pretty typical day. Dh made Greek-style stuffed eggplant for dinner. Now I’m sitting on the porch trying to keep my eyes open. I’ll be in bed early tonight!

the frame and mat are pure white, not cream color. Hydrangea from watercolor class. I learned what I did wrong and will practice this week!

I don’t see anything wrong with your watercolor. It’s lovely. Every one of the paintings you’ve shared here are frame worthy.

I still have a soft spot for wicker. It may not be perfect but the young couple
Got a deal!

I had my second cataract surgery today. This one seemed so much smoother, but it’s probably just because I knew what to expect. Now, more days of lounging around and not lifting weights, etc. More TV for me, I guess.

Easy day. Going to a meeting at our lake club, then going out to lunch with my monthly group of four (and we all are available today!).

Later, I have to type the minutes from my Monday meeting and submit them.

Enjoying some quiet time this morning with my tea and puzzles, meeting friends for a walk later this morning, doing a final market run for graduation weekend (everyone arrives tomorrow), and doing the last minute odds and ends this afternoon. Should be a good day!

Working from home today. D2 wanted to come over for margaritas and tacos tonight. So I will need to go to the store to get some lobster and carne asada.
