What are you doing today?

Glad my boss is back from his (well deserved) 2 week vacation. But work has been as such, that I’m back to playing the lottery praying I can win and never come back… One project in particular. I can not WAIT until this one is done… but then there’s a phase 2…

But I AM happy to report that Busch Gardens day was AWESOME!!! Everything went so well. Younger S is just a delight to be around. We got there at 10:15 right before they opened up the parking and got a front row (behind all the handicap) spot. We were able to ride 4 coasters in the first hour. Then, it started to fill up and most rides had about a 20 min wait. Not terrible. But I felt fine the entire day. H did fine for the first 4 rides and then needed a break until the end. We left around 4:30 and got home around 8:30.

So today is hoping no disasters pop up, but we have a site meeting sometime this afternoon… After that it’s Walmart Wednesday. And we are now stuck in a storm, mucky, humid endless cycle, so I’ve been and will be dealing with a sinus headache for the next umpteen days… Blech.

I already watered outdoors and went to the grocery store. Meeting a friend for lunch in a few hours.

Went to yoga this morning but weather is too hot and muggy for a walk. Ran some errands and ordered a prescription refill for myself ( cost went down quite a bit! Yoo-hoo!). Ordered flowers to be sent to friends who are having to put their beloved dog down tomorrow.

My sister is coming tomorrow so I have been doing some cleaning. Not that she is the type to put on a white glove and test for dust, or even judge ,but having company is always a good excuse!

DH has cataract surgery this afternoon, so I have to take him and wait until he’s finished. We’re going up to our cabin with a new friend tomorrow, so I also have to pack and go grocery shopping. Plus get some work done.

Sitting on my porch with my booted ankle until it gets too hot. PT is coming at 2pm.

Outside PT starts Monday and I have just completed all the forms.

I’m ready. I hope my ankle is.

My miniature house kit arrived yesterday so I crafted the first few items. Easy ones!

And my six pack of Lou Malnati pizzas arrived.

Watching my great-nephew (turns 11 in three weeks) play at a baseball tournament this week. He’s really good. He’s the oldest of mm nephew’s and niece-in-law’s four boys. Their lives completely revolve around sports (and she’s a teacher, so no grades, no game!). It’s so cool to see them parent. Hope to get out there in July after my term as president is over. My youngest sister (grandma to the boys) lives two doors down from them.

Otherwise, am doing a ton of synagogue stuff. Hoping to wrap up things by the end of June, but stuff keep popping up.

Need to finish watering my plants so I can start potting all the propagations I started last fall and this spring. Would like to take some of these to family while I’m on the road – I need to get them out of the house.

How did he do?

I had planned lunch with a friend today but rescheduled for tomorrow. I had a horrible night’s sleep and just didn’t feel like pulling it together. I was able to sleep a little more midmorning. Then got up and walked slowly on the treadmill as you aren’t supposed to do anything strenuous for a week after cataract surgery. Yesterday, I did the follow-up with my optometrist, and he’s happy with progress.

This afternoon, I watched the World Cup. I’ll watch more tonight, but I am taking Tylenol PMs and going to bed early to get a decent night’s sleep.

The team made the cut for the final brackets, won the first game with a walk-off. Lost the second game with a walk-off. Not sure if that means they are out or if they are in the consolation bracket.

I would probably know if I paid for the app that shows the games on video and has ‘insights’ and ‘analysis’ for each game, but I am too cheap to PAY for that. (It’s also owned by private equity – I hate that they squeeze money out of sports parents for this, but such are the times we live in. Niece-in-law generally posts the highlight clips anyway on her FB.) I use the free version which has who’s on the field and I see their names go around the bases.

The USSSA team he also plays with won the state championship last week. He’s a pitcher with a mean bat. The 3rd grader is also made local All-Stars and is on a travel team and the 1st grader just made All-Stars, too. The youngest is 3.5 – I think he gets to do t-ball next year. ?? He goes to all of the games and the older brothers are already teaching him to hit and throw (in the living room).

H is not a sports fan and rolls his eyes at all this, and even as a sports nut I think it’s a little much, but that FAMILY thrives on this. Nephew & Niece-in-law figured out how to make this work, they are all on board and they make it about the teamwork, setting goals, staying active, etc. It works for them. Brilliantly.

Some of my favorite memories are with the kids at the ballfields. :purple_heart: I do hate how PE has taken over kids’ sports. Everything I read says the most successful kids are those who play multiple sports so I guess PE in your main sport and rec in your side sports would be a good balance.

We made some friends with other parents of kids in sports teams. The kids played until their chronic health issues made it impossible to proceed.

Today, I’m still organizing after being gone a month. I decided to put my knits in the fluff dry cycle to get them really dry after having them sit out overnight after being put in lowest heat on delicate dryer cycle. I looked in washer and lo & behold found my missing wool tank top that I had been mourning as lost. Haha!

Then I put an item on D’s desk and looked at the box on her deck chair—it was the box to mail back my medical equipment, complete with postage paid return label!

I boxed the equipment, mailed it and then went to water SisIL’s plants (she loves them and her area is very hot & dry).

After I texted her, she said their luggage remains stuck in Seattle while they’re in Iceland. I asked what CCard they booked with and called to help get more info so they can buy some items and get reimbursed. Fortunately we all have same CC and I got helpful agent to clarified, up to $100/passenger/day for up to 5 days and get final carrier to help you get your bags and make claim with them for delayed bag (not carrier who got you to intermediate point where you transferred to another airline but bags didn’t come along). Also got them a phone # they can call collect from long distance if they need more. I also told them to complain to their tour company who made the arrangements. (This is all Chase Sapphire Preferred.)

Very predictable day here. Volunteer gig this morning. Ballroom dance party tonight.

It’s very hot and humid here so I’ll be glad to be inside most of the day.

Same. But only for a couple of days and worse in AZ, so I’ll take it (and the bonus of lovely rain).

70 degrees, humid and muggy for this morning’s 7 am walk with Sabapup. Ready for it to break.
Let’s see - yesterday cancelled vacation plans to Outer Banks for our anniversary (don’t ask) and weeded through a lot of junk Mom had in the kitchen drawers that I just wasn’t ready to handle at the time. Today will be tackling a bedroom where I just put a lot of things I didn’t know what to do with. I’m going to reconfigure it as an office/reading space so I don’t have to be around the television all of the time when I just want to read. I need to go to the grocery as well. Typical exciting stuff.

76 degrees with a 70 degree DP at 4:30am this morning. Running was not fun. Rest of workout was fine. Now I’m at work. Have a meeting I’m not looking forward to (putting it mildly) at 10am. Hopefully the day will improve after that. It will definitely improve tonight. All 4 kids are coming in for the weekend!

In sadder news, a very close friend of younger S (from K through college) got married last summer. Her H was killed in a car wreck yesterday. He stopped behind a stopped state DOT vehicle, but the SUV behind slammed into him and completely crushed the car between the 2. I can’t imagine how awful that must be. Her Dad is also our dentist. Heartbreaking.

Thanks for asking, he’s doing really well! He was kind of loopy for a couple of hours, but that was it. This morning he woke up and said he could see better out of that eye better than the other one with a contact lens in it. He had his follow-up appointment this morning and his vision was 20/25 already and it will improve. Yay! I’m so happy for him. 13 months for me until I’m on Medicare!

The restrictions they gave him yesterday at the surgery center were more restrictive than what the doctor told us today. So he can use a chain saw, lift a generator, and even run if he uses a sweat band. That’s a relief, because I was trying to figure out how I could do some of that heavy lifting this weekend but now I don’t need to.

He’s just SO FORGETFUL, though. I will have to keep track of all the eye drops because he would never remember.

Today I will go to the post office to mail a document that gives me permission to handle all of DH’s medical benefits with our insurance carrier.

Then I will go the the local mall to return a pair of pants to White House Black Market, and while I’m there I’ll take a peek at the pants in J.Jill.

I have to call two doctors to make sure they put their lab orders into Quest. I have an appointment at Quest on Monday, and nothing is worse than showing up and their having no orders!

And I might stop at the library to drop a bunch of stuff off and I might even iron a tablecloth.

Then, the dog to the woods, even though it’s 8,000 degrees here today.

Wow. My optometrist doesn’t even want me to drive yet! My optometrist is conservative, and when it comes to my eyesight I’m OK with that.

About to head out to my rescheduled lunch with bff, then home for so many sports — World Cup, WNBA, College World Series, more World Cup and finally the NCAA T&F championships. I am hoping that UT wraps up the Director’s Cup tonight. I love winning that thing. Always comes down to us and Stanford, but we’ve got more ways to earn points down the stretch.
