I haven’t had my surgery yet but was told I could drive the next day when I asked. I guess we shall see (no pun intended)!
After several ridiculously hot humid days, today is fabulous - the perfect Midwest late spring day. We just finished walking, and after folding some laundry, I will do some more invoices for our annual subdivision maintenance fees. I have an old version of Quickbooks, and I don’t want to upgrade to the online version that costs an arm & a leg. Unfortunately, it crashed the other day & when I did a repair, it automatically loaded an update that I had purposely chosen not to load. Now, I can’t do batch invoices because I have to populate two fields that I don’t use in order to create batch invoices. Ugh. So I’m doing the remaining 250 invoices manually (I had completed several smaller billing groups before the crash) … I will figure out how to populate the fields before next year’s invoicing, but I don’t have the patience to work on that when I’m on a deadline.
Working until noon then D2 is coming over to open her birthday gifts while we facetime with D1 and GD. Then D2 and I are headed to lunch at the beach since it’s a sunny day. Usually we have “June gloom” on D2’s birthday, but today she got a lovely day. This has been a tough year for D2 so I am trying to make her birthday a happy one today.
Worked on my miniature house a bit and the afternoon will be a pool day. Perfect weather for it and it’s been warm enough that I think I won’t have to heat it again this summer. Once a couple of weeks ago, and that’s it.
I think it’s because I still need glasses for distance/driving and still have a lot of astigmatism (I didn’t do toric lenses). The glasses I have now don’t match my eyes after surgery so he wants the swelling to continue to go down. He told me not to drive at night for another month!
Oh interesting. That may be true for me as well as I’m only doing monofocal and will still be nearsighted. My two surgeries are a month apart due to scheduling issues so I hope I can drive at night quicker than that! I was told my eyesight should be similar to what it is now so hopefully my glasses will work well enough.
We are having quite the thunderstorm right now…and it’s supposed to continue like this until about 9. We are going to a ballroom dance party at 7:30…with umbrellas!
It was H.O.T. here today, and humid too. Not my favorite weather, but it is June, after all.
Quest has a new feature where you can now check your portal to see if orders have been submitted. The information is listed on the homepage under “orders”. It is at the top.
6.5 hour drive back home from the coast. We left early to avoid most of the Friday traffic through Portland and it was a fairly successful strategy.
We got ~95% of the stuff we’d brought with us out of the 5th wheel and managed to get most of that put away. Tomorrow will bring stripping the bed, gathering remaining laundry, and cleaning floors and surfaces.
Now in my recliner looking out at our water and enjoying a v. large G&T with the classic girl dinner of charcuterie, cheese, and crackers.
I have not decided yet what to focus on today. The electrican was here Thursday and Friday. So my undercounter lights are now in. the 8 or 9 outlets that had not been hooked are hooked up, so I could move my coffee machine from the floor to the top of the counter. I could put in nightlight and a clock. Some items could be returned to the counters like knives and utensils. With all these new outlets, I went to Office Depot to buy a label maker. I’ve never had one, but that’s my task for today to learn how to use that and to mark things in a neater way than masking tape.
I desperately need a decorator to figure out where do I put shelves and where do I put all the paintings? The women bought the furniture from said she’d be happy to come over and I offered to pay her a regular rate but meantime she’s ignoring me for the past month.
Anyway, it’s nice to have a dishwasher again after nine months and to feel like my house is getting into order.
I’m also eager for the Vets to come and take out all the items filling my garage.,
All 4 kids are here! Plus a dog to go along with our 4 cats. We are a full household and my heart is likewise full.
Got up early to do a run. Felt great for 20 min and then the humidity and heat sucked the life out of me. Rest of the workout was a bit of a struggle, but it’s done.
Next up will be taking my 91 y.o. FIL out to lunch and then we will go out to dinner. Older S/DIL1 have to go through their mountain of wedding presents. The rest of us will likely spend most of the day watching the World Cup. Then dinner out somewhere.
I am waiting for a new couch to be delivered, so we can see if it really does fit through the door. Oy, the suspense is turning me grey.
I bought a dining room table & chairs at a local consignment shop today. It’s really nice, and it was a bargain. I bought a mid century teak table a few years ago, and I just haven’t really liked it in my space - plus, I never found chairs I liked at a price I wanted to pay. So now I need to sell that table …

Thankfully today is a bit cooler and a the humidity lower, so Sabapup and I had a longer morning walk after coffee and papers, then I went to the gym. After lunch, Mr. Sabaray and I went downtown to a little street festival which was not super exciting, sorry to say. We did stop in the artists cooperative - that was the best part! Stopped at the grocery, another walk and now H is grilling. Always a relief not to have to cook.
