What are you doing today?

Very nice!

Watered my outdoor plants this morning. Ate breakfast, felt queasy (I’ve been feeling that a lot lately), and lay down – woke up two hours later! There went the day!! Took the dog to the woods for a long walk while I chatted with a good friend on the phone. I’ll make dinner soon and then hopefully finish my book this evening. (Everything Is Tuberculosis by John Green.)

The day started with the tree trimming guys bright and early; they had to get up and down the tall palm before the wind picked up. They did a massive trim of the hedge along the alley; part of it was dying. As a bonus, they trimmed the hedge in front of the living room and took out part of the palm in front of the kitchen window. I no longer feel like Sleeping Beauty in a castle being swallowed by briars. Husband ran out for bagels and donuts so no need to make breakfast.

I finished the dining room in my miniature house.

Then husband suggested going for lunch at a favorite place near Shelter Island; it’s across the marina from our dinner spot last week.

We came home via scenic drives on Shelter Island and Sunset Cliffs Drive.

And leftover pizza for dinner so three for three on not making meals.

I started Everything Is Tuberculosis book (audioversion) yesterday. Interesting so far.

Today, went to my niece’s graduation from family medicine residency (3 years). She was very happy! Now she’s doing a geriatric residency and will stay in that field because she gets to spend more time with each patient.

As a bonus, we helped feed and cuddle her 4 month old baby. Her H mostly was handling her 4 year old.

I had to work today. It was pretty slow as the weather was really nice today so people were doing lots of outdoor activities.

I got home around 6pm then dh and I went out for dinner/drinks at a local waterfront restaurant. We ran into a couple we haven’t seen since pre-Covid days. Our kids all went to K-12 together, played sports, etc. It was so nice to bump into them.

I’m now sitting on our porch enjoying the low humidity, catching up on social media.

Very fun set!!

I was out of town the last two days helping D2 move into a new apt with her boyfriend. We swear, “this is the last time we are involved in physical moving”! I have to admit though, all went pretty smoothly and it was a good bonding experience with her boyfriend and previous roommates. Her former college roommate who she has lived with for the past 11 years (!) is moving to the same building so we helped her and her family too.

Pretty grimy when we got home so I went for a moonlight swim which was so relaxing and then watched the last episode of The Four Seasons (highly recommend!!) and then watched the Knicks win.

To be honest, all I want to do today is move at my own pace, do my exercise, walk the pup, tend to the plants inside and out and my house in and out and maybe hit the grocery store. Very much looking forward to doing these tasks on my own schedule!

I really like Sundays. After doing my puzzles, I get to meet my girlfriend. We take our “girls” to dog friendly restaurants.

Quiet but nice day here. I’m going to prune some house and yard plants, and maybe do some weeding. Then I’m going up to the lake for the afternoon. Weather is supposed to be nice most of the day!

Crying. All the kids just left. I hate it when they go. And it’s even dumber this time, because we are going up there to visit them this Friday. I just hate and am so bad at goodbyes.

I don’t have a lot of housework to do since I did it before they came. I might touch up a few places just to give me something to do. I’ll play piano while H works out and we have Walmart later.

But our new dream is to move to Austria for a year after I retire. Housing there is cheaper than Germany. I don’t see it being completely forever. I’d miss the hopefully someday to be grandkids too much. But I would just love to say I lived abroad at some point in my life. H is 100% on board. He’s ready to leave the US now though I think he’d miss the kids more than I would. I’ve got about 6 years left to go, so it’s not imminent…. But there’s a lot to consider.

Today is our minister’s last day - he’s retiring. He’s a really good guy, and we’re going to miss him. He married our D … he arranged to use a church in the city where the reception was held, and he provided a ceremony that included some nods to the groom’s Catholic side. His kindness was so appreciated. We went to early service, which only a handful of people attend, so that we’d have a chance to talk for a bit afterwards.

I am finishing up folding invoices for our subdivision annual fees & stuffing them into envelopes. I’ll probably wait until tomorrow to go to Costco to get stamps, then I’ll drop everything at the post office. I have been doing the bookkeeping for the subdivision for many years, and I will keep doing it as long as I can - it keeps my brain active.

It’s going to rain off & on all day, but I’ll get a walk in at some point.

I love those dream plans for you! I also am a cryer and can easily tear up when my kids come to visit and leave.

Come on, you can’t put out a “teaser” and then not explain yourself.

What happened? Hope you’re ok.

I enjoyed my coffee out on the deck this morning and will definitely enjoy a glass or two of rosé this evening.

It’s very warm here, so of course H is burning weeds before the county burn ban goes into effect.

Really low tides for a few days, so I walked a bit on the “beach”. The tides and heat brought on a red tide (shellfish toxin), meaning no one is out gathering oysters. The entire canal is shut down for all shellfish, only the second time ever a full shutdown has happened.

DH was very active all weekend and feels great. His “new” eye is doing so well that he didn’t even put a contact lens in his other eye. I’m jealous!

Well, yesterday, the A/C cleaning folks asked if they could come today instead of next Monday, so we scrambled & cleaned up & made everything work. They came this morning and did a great job, as always. We went out to lunch and then bought groceries to make beef stew, as we both love it and were craving it. I started it on the stove and now it’s nearly done. Tomorrow morning, we set out bright and early to drop off my car for servicing and I have a Board meeting so we can plan for our 20th anniversary of our nonprofit for this September!

I started the day by getting blood drawn for two different doctors. DH and I tried to go out to breakfast but he had a 10:30 tennis game and we couldn’t find a place in time close enough to where he was playing. So I got something on my own. Dropped off a pair of pants to have the waist taken in. Now I’m home, hiding in the office, while my cleaning ladies finish up.

I’m meeting some friends for lunch locally, and then tonight DH and I are going to the neighbors’ for dinner. I’ve been inviting them here – now that we have new outdoor furniture, I want to use it!! – but she insisted we go there.

So, an entire day of no cooking!!
