I took a cue from @jym626 & fell - I was getting into a yoga pose, and I just plopped over. It wasn’t a big fall, fortunately. My ankle got banged up & it hurts - but just the typical smacked-it-on-something-hard hurt (rather than an I-broke-something hurt). I have been working on my balance & it looks like I need to keep working!
I have an annual eye exam today, and I’m cleaning house. Not too much excitement.
Oh no!! Feel better! My 4+" gash is still “messy”. I may put on shorts and let it air out rather than cover it with bandages. Its pretty gross. Interestingly, we went to DH’s ortho follow upp appt today (he’s now in a shorter splint) and they said to skip the antibiotics (neosporin/polysporin, etc) and just use Vaseline or aquafor!
Started the day the routine way - 30 minutes of an exercise video, followed by a pup walk. Worked about 2 hours at my job - I work basically 3 days a week but I made the choice on my own to work 1-2 hours Monday morning to catch up on emails since I last worked (Thursday) and then I have shorter T-W-Th AND start Tuesday caught up.
Picked up grandpup to come spend a few hours at our house. Shopped my yard for a couple of flower bouquets for the house. Took grandpup for a walk. Cleaned the pool.
Am now meal prepping a lasagna and have enough to make S and DIL (grandpup’s parents) a small one for them to bake this week. Mid afternoon H and I are going to trim our older neighbors bushes - it’s absolutely GORGEOUS outside. Sunny and 70. After that I’ll do some weeding at my own house and bake that lasagna! I’ll carve a little time out this evening to sit outside and read, my favorite evening activity this time of year.
Today I drove two and a half hours to the Philly suburbs, was there for 45 mins and then drove back - just got home. Why? Because my 91 y/o father was donating six religious sculptures to an Abbey outside Philly. They came into his possession 15 yrs ago (long story) and at some point, he brought them to Cleveland where he was donating them to his alma mater. However, the alma mater was renovating at the time, so they were stored in my uncle’s basement. After the renovation, the alma mater “no longer had space” for them so they sat in my uncle’s basement all these years until two months ago when my uncle drove them here to MD. My father contacted the Abbey who agreed to take them (the priest who originally commissioned them was affliated with them but he died last year). Anyhow, I agreed to drive my father to take them up there. We left at 9am, had lunch with the Abbott, then turned around and came right back. Ugh. Of course it is beautiful weather and I just spent my day in the car. Sigh.
Going to take my dog on a nice walk now before dinner.

From the skin cancer surgeon I’ve used they recommend Vaseline or Aquaphor. Definitely no to any medicated ointments. Also don’t let it air out. You can get it wet but after showering dry the wound, cover with aquaphor and put on a fresh bandage.
Both my in-laws have wounds from falls that they have required treatment weekly from a wound center. If the cut is deep or not healing it might be worth asking about. The wound center is particularly concerned about how the new skin is growing back.
Plastic surgeon gave me medihoney and then silvadene cream for my incisions. The derm gave me aquaphor when I had a couple of spots burned off. Both said no antibiotic creams.
Well, today, I got my transmission fluid changed, as well as my oil & filter changed. Also got a safety check and got a call from the painter—he will come by on Thursday to give us a quote for our house and help us figure out colors, etc. He’s highly recommended by our realtor. Also went to the bank as the guys who cleaned our split A/C system prefer cash, so I went and got $100 bills so it’s easier to count.
After that, had to send an email to Eagle Creek—they sent the WRONG clips! I told them the shoulder strap is 1.5” wide but they sent a clip that is .75” wide, and no way the strap will fit through that narrow clip! ARGH!
I ended up spending a lot of today on the phone. A morning long call from one sister. This afternoon another sister called for a long talk. Lots of catching up to do. I’m glad I had the time.
