Up before 8 to get to the farmer’s market. Bought fruit, veggies and herbs. (Tomatoes, cucumbers, basil, chives, peaches and sour cherries.) I’ll pit the cherries tomorrow and bake a sour cherry pie.
Next it was off to Target to pick up stuff. After that, to the supermarket where I picked some stuff for dinner tonight, plus several things off the grocery list that we need urgently. Plus some meat & cold cuts for me. Used my super Grandma powers to get 5% off the total. (Every Thursday those over 65 get a 5% off senior discount on groceries.)
-----And dang it, I forgot to buy rye bread to go with the corned beef and Swiss…
Home, waiting for the cleaning ladies to finish so I can put away the non-refrigerated groceries & make myself some lunch. I baked banana choc chip muffins for the grands last night and plan to bake a big batch fudge brownies this afternoon for the night shift nurses. D1 says that morale has been low lately. And tonight is the last shift for D1’s favorite scribe. She wants to give him a nice send off. He was formerly a USAID worker and has been scribing on night shift for about a year, but has decided it’s time to move on. Best scribe she’s had in the last 5 or so years. She’s sad to see him leave.
At 2:25, I’ll leave to pick the grands up from summer day camp, bring them home and try to keep them from waking mom up.
Tacos for dinner tonight–everybody ( by everybody I mean the grandkids…) likes those.
We have a house painter coming to talk to us this morning (look over house, talk about colors & give us a quote) and then off to lunch at Elks Club, by ocean for H’s birthday lunch. I will remind kids to call him today for his bday.
I have an occupational therapy appointment in the pool today. It will be my first visit that will take place in the pool. I have no idea what to expect. It’s cold and overcast but I’m sure the pool is heated. I’ll try to arrive a few minutes early as I don’t know where the pool is located on the hospital complex.
I’ll likely do some errands after.
I have been lying low. I came down with a horrible infection in my tonsils last Saturday ( urgent care sent me to ER) and I am ok now with the help of antibiotics, a steroid injection, rest, liquids and my sisters care ( she was visiting).
Walked this morning. Currently watching the Obama Center Opening Ceremony on TV.
Strength class is canceled today so several of us plan to take a walk together this afternoon.
Been in Hilton Head since last Saturday, just a few more beach days. Rain has been good enough to come at night and when we hit the tunnel at mini-golf and stopped when we exited! Truly a 120 second shower. Using mineral sunscreen which is basically zinc oxide diaper rash cream and is really hard to get off in the shower, but no sunburn. Eating way more than I thought I would, probably because my mind knows I’m starting the Wygovy pill on Monday. I do love just being at the beach!
Today I went to Walgreens for my 10 year Tetanus booster.
Then off for gas - my last fill up was in March when the price at the Ralph’s (grocery) station was $5.49. It went up as high as $5.99, but today was back at $5.49 and I still had a quarter tank. I did get another fill up which should last me three more months LOL and I got 20 cents off per gallon using Ralph’s Fuel Points.
And I finished the first floor of the miniature house in my kit. It’s been fun.
Topping off my gas tank and ice cream will have to wait. Instead, we picked up a vintage school desk we had refinished for an end table. The placemat is just there until the glass topper is delivered next week.
Thank you. I really love the classes. Believe me…I have a lot of clunkers too…but I’m learning and it’s fun.
I actually liked this one and the previous flowers in vase well enough that they are framed and hanging in my living room. A friend was moving and gave me the frame.
Very mundane day—went to Costco to return moldy green melons—boo! Got full refund. Walked around & bought 2# of red cherries @$5.98.
Went to Safeway for $5/lb lamb shoulder chops, veggies & ice cream—Bryers @1.5 quarts 2/$5. H wanted vanilla so that’s what I got. These will be for father’s day dinner—clay pot lamb with veggies
Had A/C guy come by to look at our units and pick up payment for work they did cleaning last Saturday.
Drove H for cardiac echo. Very lowkey day.
Tomorrow, meeting Bogleheads and then in evening dinner & watching hula of sone historic events.
Went to the gym and did shoulders and back. Then to the grocery store for a huge shopping. Then I returned something to Costco, went to Old Navy to get DH a pair of boxers for Father’s Day (shhhh – don’t tell him!; it’s kind of a joke). Also picked up a pair of pants I had left for tailoring. Then a 20-minute nap and then the 2 1/2-mile trail with the dog. I just heated up stuffed peppers from Costco for dinner. They make DH grumpy; he doesn’t like peppers. Life is hard, right?
The day was mainly same old same old (miniature house, pool time) until evening. First we went to our synagogue’s first Shabbat by the Bay of the summer…
We are visiting the kids in nova! I love running in dc. Saw the Iranian green reflecting pool, lol. My pictures don’t catch the color too well. I’m not sure what we have on tap. Nothing huge. I may go with FDIL2 and her mom (also visiting) to crate and barrel for wedding registry stuff. Also World Cup viewing. And later pizza for dinner in dc hopefully. And then walk around the Monuments as allowed. The Washington monument was gated off this morning.
Errands and a walk this morning, a ball game this afternoon and an early Father’s Day dinner tonight. Should be a good day and the weather looks perfect!
