Bundling up to walk in the snow; creating a little glass art studio for myself in the basement; organizing my closet.
A day for myself! Heading out to work with a trainer and after that I’ll be making vegetable soup and (finally) organizing photos from our last vacation.
Driving back from Bisbee. Sad to report no ghosts in the hotel, at least, none that cared to bother us. Tombstone was not worth stopping, so we’re headed to Tucson for lunch and then home.
Started the day with a dog walk followed by Pilates with my regular crew and no interlopers. Then the preferred plumbers arrived and unfortunately my pipe leak was not so simple. So most of the day will be at home due to repairs. Happily not as bad as it could be but makes me very glad to have a plumber I trust.
Started with a workout, then lunch with dh and now I’ve got him doing some Swedish death cleaning! I am so excited. He is getting to where he can let things go, which is a miracle as he is a packrat of the highest order. Well, no, I’ll say of a high order. The highest order is more his late mom and sister.
So. Much. Snow.
There was supposed to be a trace amount of snow to day in Michigan. So far there’s 3.5 inches and it’s still coming down hard. Roads are very slippery. We supposed to go out to dinner tonight, but that ain’t happening……
Today we’re on our free local resident Old Town Trolley ride. We hopped off at Seaport Village for lunch.
Happy Birthday!
I love that Trolley and Seaport! Look at that clear blue sunny sky!
I met a [much younger] friend I used to work with for coffee. Then had two abortive attempts at shipping something I sold on eBay. When I arrived at the post office the third time, the woman behind the counter said, “Third time’s the charm, right?” Finally got it sent off! Came home for a quick lunch and then went to the gym. I’m home now and quite sore – in a good way.
I do love retirement. No other time of life has been as much fun.
I slept in, had coffee, and headed to the Y. Another good walk/run workout, ending with weights.
The replacement back cushions for our sofa arrived, so I’ll insert those and see how they feel. I love the down-filled cushions, but the feathers that have been coming out since day one of owning the furniture drives me batty. You’d think that with how much we paid, they wouldn’t escape, but here we are.
While the hockey game is on, I’ll research what to do with the old towels and linens currently on the hallway floor.
Many animal shelters take old sheets and towels!
ETA: Homeward Pet shelter takes towels and washcloths but not sheets (I suspect because sheets can be synthetic, not cotton, and towels almost always are cotton). So check the donation lists!
The animal shelters and resettled immigrants and two places always looking for linens and towels.
It’s a workday so I’m busy - but since I now wfh I have all the windows and doors opened, it got to the high 70s earlier, music playing and being grateful that I feel safe.
Update on Swedish death cleaning …
I went back to the bookcase dh was supposed to look through and box up the books he didn’t want. He was sitting in front of the bookcase at one point, but when I went back in not a single book was boxed up. Turns out he didn’t want any of the books, but he also didn’t bother to box them up.

Sounds like my dad! He didn’t go through his thousands of books until the day before the packers were coming… And now he’s annoyed about some of the books that were tossed or given away. ![]()
I am doing my exercises, calling to check on my mom, and then I am going shopping for baby clothes! The Nana-to-be has been cleared for take off, lol.
Cleaned a few bathrooms, vacuumed, took care of some financial stuff and got my printer to work.
Also read several pages in my library book. I’m trying to keep busy and stay off of social media.
Thursday afternoons are busy for me. I have a strength class, then I shower and wash hair afterwards. Then it’s on to my Mahjong group.
Went to the Pissarro exhibit at the Art Museum and had lunch with 6 college friends. We’ve been trying to have an activity to do when we meet for lunch as just meeting for lunch has become rather boring.
But, next week we are just meeting for lunch as another sorority is coming to town for her father’s birthday.
