What are you doing today?

That’s so funny. I have three friends and our last “breakfast” was nine hours! And I only broke it up because I didn’t want to drive in the dark. A friend in another state suggested that we do “something” during our lunches, like go for a walk, and I told her, “Nah, we good.”

Visiting friends we met 10 years ago on a cruise to Greece. We are in their hometown of Melbourne.

Today starts a 5 day weekend for me (I don’t work on Fridays or Tuesdays) and the weather is supposed to be divine today, so I have a couple of quick errands and then off to the beach to do my long (30 mile) bike ride, which I don’t like to do when the beach is busy.

Today I tested packing for our trip next month and found I was well within weight limits. Trying to not decide that means I can bring more stuff! I know I should bring less.

I did my usual morning exercise and pup walk. Went to an estate sale where I scored a pretty vintage honey maple mirror, vintage colorful kitchen towels and some a couple vintage Fiestaware bowls. Costco trip and now doing some home tasks and will try a new soup recipe for dinner. Friday is also a day off for me.

Today, went for a walk with H—saw many monarch butterflies along the way and saw a house for sale nearby our house. Sent info about it to neighbors who are renting and want to buy in our neighborhood.
Later today, will drop H & S off at pelvic therapy and pick up a board member at parking lot and she and I will attend a session about how to increase publicity. It’s a free seminar at a community park but has limited parking. I’m hopeful we will learn important tips as publicity is what we are terrible at and don’t reach the people we need and want to.

Wordle, Connections, and Spelling Bee, then was off to the Y. My watch said I did 3.66 miles, while the treadmill recorded 3.2. It’s usually opposite, so I know I’m moving faster.

Dropping off old towels at the feline rescue that I found is just down the road from me. That takes care of all of them. The girls will look at sheets and blankets when they’re over & that will finish off the linen closet.

I’m having a nice day. Worked out, watched my soap operas, took the books dh finally boxed up to Goodwill, went to Sonic for a diet cherry limeade during happy hour. Took me two tries to get to Sonic as the one I first went to was closed down. As I pulled up, almost every stall was full, and I thought “Man, people are thirsty for happy hour!” Turns out all the cars were empty, There’s a lot of construction on the highway there so I guess the cars belong to workers. I’m sad that businesses are victims of the construction.

However, while driving to the second location, ds2 called and we had an hourlong+ convo while I sat in the car enjoying my drink. He listened to a podcast that I suggested so called to discuss that, which was a springboard to many other topics. He and his gf are headed to Bloomington for a long weekend. She’s considering going there for graduate school so they want to check it out. And what a fun weekend to be there, with Indiana in the football championship!

I thought trial packing would be the highlight of my day. Then husband skipped his usual beers after tennis and suggested going out for Mexican. Then our favorite long cut home via Sunset Cliffs.

We are now three for three going out for lunch. No complaints! I said we’re practicing for next month’s trip.

STRESSING about getting ready for vacation which starts tomorrow.

Our 15.5 lb “kitten” (he turns 1 JAn 20th) is picking on our older/smaller cat terribly and I’m worried about leaving them. We have someone staying in our house, but that cat is a menace!

Plus packing stress. I am sure I have plenty of clothes, but it’s always hard for me.

A car picks us up at 4:15 AM, so it’s going to be a long day.

On my way home today. Received a text when I was 10 minutes away from the airport that my flight is delayed by 2.5 hours. No reason given.

This has happened on both incoming and outgoing flights.

I really, really hate you Delta.

BTW, it’s not like I’m flying into a small airport. Major international airports at both ends.

This last week was a doozy. Wednesday I learned one of my favorite Pilates instructors was leaving the center I practice at, thanks to internal politics, then a plumbing repair that was quite a bit more involved than anticipated and then…the vet we have seen for almost 30 years told us Thursday she was retiring. I had debated over vaccinating Sabadog as she is almost 12.5 years old but ultimately decided to meet with the vet and discuss. At the end of the visit she shared the news; she had told the practice a year ago and needs to have some surgical issues addressed. So next week is her last week. I felt like crying as she is more than a vet, she is truly a friend. However, she reminded me that Sabadog doesn’t know she’s sick. She just thinks about each day as it comes and she enjoys each day as it comes. So I thought, I am going to try and be more like Sabadog and take each day as it comes, rather than look to the past or look too far forward into the future. I think that kind of fits with the spirit of the thread?
Today I am enjoying some quiet time alone in the house, which rarely happens. H decided to go to a collector’s show so left right after we walked the dogs in a dusting of snow. I hope he doesn’t come home with any more toy cars! I’m currently doing a lot of laundry (thanks to plumbing repair) and am going to do some baking while H is gone.

It is bitterly cold here. Got about an inch and a half to two inches of snow last night. Not quite enough for my snow removal guys to come, but enough to turn to ice ( we get a lot of foot traffic in my neighborhood). So I did two shifts of shoveling: on for my steps and sidewalk and one on the back by my garage.

Debating whether to go for groceries today or tomorrow.

And now another delay because the incoming flight hasn’t even taken off yet. Plus 2 different flights to Dulles have now been combined and every seat is filled on the plane. They may start asking for volunteers for bumping. I’m retired so don’t have time constraints. If the offer gets good enough, I’ll volunteer.

But seriously Delta, what is your deal ? The weather was bad a couple of days ago, but it’s been clear, if cold, since Friday morning

Got an early workout in and am watching basketball. About to run errands and then come back and take down the Christmas tree. Then more basketball at 5!

I’d love to spend time outside, but the allergies are so bad.

I have had to stop and remind myself that today is Saturday, not Sunday, about a half dozen times so far. Looks like this will be a day-long activity.

I had my workout this morning, followed by pizza for lunch. Now H and I are going out of town to first go to a used bookstore, then to the bigger city to get clothes for this wedding of S/FDIL. We now need rehearsal dinner clothes. Ugh. I dread this kind of stuff. I have one old t-shirt/sweater dress in my closet that I got from Target 10-15 years ago. Somehow I don’t think that will work, nor will the whopping 4 pairs of non running shoes that I own. At least I do have the wedding MOG dress taken care of

Yesterday, I went to a networking seminar, to learn about publicity. She’s a veteran reporter. She reminded us to put ourselves out there and post, so I posted on NextDoor and two websites about my chronic disease and this morning there were several people wanting to attend our event on Wednesday, so I added them to the calendar so they will get reminders.
