What are you doing today?

Well I’m calling the tree guy and our insurance company. Brief but intense storm and possible tornado brought down a tree right in front of my eyes. Such a shame to lose a tall old maple.

Well, H finally agreed that walking MIGHT help move his GI along, so we went for a 1 mile HOT walk in the neighborhood. Yay—it helped a little.

Since he was in a better mood and hungrier than he’s been in awhile, I made instapot lamb shoulder chops with some veggies & rice (what I had planned to make yesterday god Father’s Day but he wasn’t in the mood). I made enough that we gave 1/2 of it to my childhood neighbor who gave use rosemary (which was one of the ingredients). I also gave her the recipe. It was delicious and H has already begged me to make the other 1/2 tomorrow.

Then I went to Schwab to deposit a check that is written out to my deceased dad & me as an UGMA—I stopped being a minor 50 years ago. My Schwab agent said to bring it to the branch & they’d get it accepted.

Then browsed at TJMaxx & NRacK but didn’t find any great sandals.

Finally, got home and the Eagle Creek replacement hooks for my shoulder strap of my convertible waist pack / crossbody bag arrived. After a bunch of missteps, was finally able to remove old hooks and replace them with these new ones!

I arose at 3:30 to work at the NYS primary election today–5am until we’re done–10ish tonight.

More staining on this rainy, overcast day. Ordered the mattresses and bedding for the bunk beds. Need to find an oval braided rug in just the right colors for this bedroom. I see a trip to Freeport in the very near future.

Today I’m taking the train to NYC to have lunch with a friend. We usually do something in addition – eg, browse a museum – but after my very busy weekend (a big summer party on Saturday, a Yankees game on Sunday) I still just need some quiet downtime and just want to have lunch and chat. DH doesn’t understand why I don’t want to party all the time, but I’ve never, ever been that way.

The rain is supposed to end…but I’m glad we got a good soaking!

Piano lesson today because the teacher wants me to play keyboard (bass and percussion) for a ukulele group she has. So, we are going to do some tries today at her house. It will be fun(ny) anyway.

Then ballroom dance lesson.

Then watercolor class.

It’s an arts day, I guess!

Up early and pulled more clover out of my yard. Selected the “ winners” for my 2 Buy Nothing items, one item has already been picked up, I delivered the other to my friend who lives around the corner.

I’ll walk up to the lake in a bit. Strength training this afternoon and a few errands afterwards.

D is picking me up after an early dinner, we are going to watch GD ( almost 4) perform with her dance class!

I’m getting ready for a long weekend getaway with my H. No TV, limited internet, and a romantic inn. As such I have extra cleaning and laundry today, I want to get organized with my packing, and get in a nice long walk.

My sciatica continues to flare so walking is essential as are my exercises and stretches.

I have a few calls to catch up on too but it should be a nice restful day.

Up early to work out as I had mahjong this morning. I’ve had to miss several weeks for various reasons so I was excited to mahjong in my first foray back and only third ever. I screwed up one hand, not realizing I had done a concealed row but picked up an early discard. Doh! Anyway, the time flies. We were there for five hours, including eating!

Then I ran home to pick up dh and we went to an early dinner and talked and talked. We are trying to make travel plans for the next few years and listing all the places we’d like to go. I might mke a separate thread. We would love to include the kids but aren’t sure how to go about it. And then on the way home ds2 called so we told him all of our thinking. He and his gf have much more flexible schedules so I can see it happening easily with them, but ds1 and DIL have more commitments. Thinking, thinking.

Early, early appointment with my doctor. Having the last physical before Medicare. Sigh. I was able to do a walk-in for my lab work at the place they’re moving to next month. Then off to the nearby outdoor mall to pick up (yet) more Nespresso pods and a couple of bagels.

I tweaked something in my lower back the other day, so no gym time for me, just a lazy afternoon. We watched the end of the baseball game :trident_emblem:, then H grilled a steak to split between us. Currently sitting on the deck with the remainders of my wine . I’m thinking of having a soak in the hot tub later, if it cools off any. Looking forward to getting my hair done tomorrow

Going to Freeport today to wander through the LL Bean Home Store and other outlets looking for the final furnishings for the cabin’s new lower-level bedroom. This type of shopping is more fun than Christmas for me. Bonus: Lunch at a favorite place.

I’ll be going to the gym in about an hour. I haven’t been since last Friday – very unusual for me. I’ve been too damn busy, which I hate. Then I’ll do a bunch of errands, including returning some books to the library and taking out others. Tonight I have a Zoom book club, which I very much enjoy. DH will be out at Yappy Hour – the dog park version of happy hour.

Touring a memorycare facility in case we have to move my Mom sometime in the next year. I expect after that I will need emotional support cookies from the grocery store, followed by a guilty conscience long walk

Completed enjoyed and appreciated the 54 degree dewpoint on my run this morning. I felt 10 pounds lighter. Went to the gym and lifted and zell’d FDIL2 her birthday gift. Now I’m at work.

After work I get to go to the Xfinity store. I want to actually talk to a person before setting up the tech visit. Yesterday we got the new sound bar/system and I successfully hooked it up while making dinner. I only cursed and stomped around a little - and it WORKED! However, while the picture on regular TV is somewhat better, the pixelation is still most definitely there. It comes and goes, but always when the soccer action is good! The national anthems were fine… At this point, I’m pretty sure the coaxial cables need replacing, but I want to talk to someone in the store while setting up the appointment. I hope maybe they’ll send someone to do just that instead of trying everything else first - which we’ve already done, some items multiple times.

After that I may go see Raiders of the Lost Ark with H at the theater. He goes every year. I’ve been a couple of times. I love the movie, but would prefer to have the time to myself at home. I didn’t get him anything specific for FD, so I feel like I should go. But I did sort of get him 3 sets of dumbbells - every time he wanted to buy a set, I said Happy Father’s Day/Anniversary/Birthday…

The weather here is absolutely gorgeous today! I’ll spend most of the day at my lake with friends. From 4-6, two of us are starting a mah jongg club. The other person and I are the only ones who have played before, but she is a great teacher, and we have enthusiastic folks wanting to learn.

DH will bring dinner to the lake a little after 6.

I have my volunteer job this AM. A rescheduled hair color appointment which I desperately need. I’m hoping she is on time as I’ll need to dash out to get to my occupational therapy aquatic therapy on time and in a bathing suit.
