What are you doing today?

Layers are always safe if you don’t want unplanned purchases due to not having clothing for encountered weather.

Today was the usual pup walks and gym. Lunch at our local kebab shop run by a really nice Kurdish family, then home to keep sorting the remaining boxes. I feel like I should be done with this but it’s stressful. There’s only so much I can do at one sitting.

I’m just curious…what is your lake set up? Is there a clubhouse of sorts? Do lots of people just sit in their lounge chairs and chat. Is there a beach?

We had a cottage on a lake but it was very private and really only a couple families for quite a stretch… so I’m just curious - clearly you love it! (As you should!)

Worked until noon. Had a light lunch then hiked Torrey Pines with a friend. H and I are going to a neighborhood get together at a new neighbor’s house in a few minutes. I’m taking a charcuterie and bottle of rose.

Made some crackers. Ordered pea stones for the cabin walkway and firepit area and more mulch for the front of the cabin. Handyman will spread next week. Getting ready for DS/DIL’s 4th of July visit.

Well…we have two beach options…and they are on a gorgeous small lake.

  1. The families on our street own a private beach together. It’s on each deed to our homes. We have a nice deck on the water, and a roped off swimming area with float and a dock for boats. And a rack for SUP and kayaks. We have an annual homeowners cost for the common property. We don’t have a shed or storage, but we do get a porta potty for the summer. And we have 6 picnic tables also. We have street picnics there a few times each summer which are a lot of fun.
  2. Our family is also members of the adjacent Beach Club. This does have a clubhouse with lockers for each member family, and bathrooms, and a snack bar with ice cream and limited snacks. The club also had periodic activities for members. There is a mah jongg club, yoga, a book club also. Club owns some kayaks and SUPs. There are two long docks for somewhat larger boats. And a roped off swim area with swim floats on the outside corner. Lifeguards are there from noon to 6 in the summers. Picture a former boyscout camp and you will get the idea. Folks swim, kayak, paddle board, canoe, and sail smaller boats.

In both cases, the beach is a grassy slope to the water…no sandy beach.

This lake has a horsepower boat limit…no waterskiing, jet skis, etc. It’s really a great place for swimming, smaller craft boating, and meeting friends for picnics or to socialize.

I spend part of just about every day in the summer there. Some of us were remarking yesterday how lucky we are to have this gorgeous lake.

Here is a picture so you can get an idea of the beach club.

Thank you for taking the time and pics to share. Not gonna lie, for me, this is what I hope heaven looks like. I could love this lifestyle in a heartbeat!

You are lucky but more importantly, I think you know that and treasure it - it would be a very hard decision to move and leave that.

Have a wonderful summer there!

@thumper1 I am also loving the lake proximity, views and activities you have.

I actually live across the road…four houses away from the lake. It takes me just a couple of minutes to walk there. One of the reasons we selected the lot we built on was the lake. And we have gotten great enjoyment out of it since 1994.

It’s the only thing we can really walk to!!

I keep thinking it’s Sunday for some reason…

Granddog is here until Wednesday so I walked him early then went to yoga at the lake. Saw a friend there and we talked for awhile before I headed to the farmers market. I’m
walking back up to the lake with the dog in a few.

Just chilling this afternoon and then heading (guess where? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: ) for a Pops concert. I’m taking granddog but sitting in the back just in case he needs to be removed.

Fortunately our low water pressure has seemed to have resolved itself. Let’s hope it lasts. My call to the water department was quite funny. Is there a problem in our area? Yes. Do you know approx when it will be fixed? No. Do you know what the problem is? No. (This was 3-4 hours after I first noticed it).

My run this morning in the 70* dewpoint was dreadful. So dreadful that I did a walk/run and turned in early and water for the gym to open at 7 so I could finish on the stairclimber. I’m going to have to rethink my plans for these runs. My body just can’t handle running hard in the summer humidity. Neve has and it only gets worse as the summer goes on and gets worse each year. Sigh. Summer blows!

Then I came home and vacuumed and mopped and took a shower with the trickle of water coming out. Then pizza and cake for lunch. Now the more fun part begins. H is going with a friend to a bigger city to do an arcade thing, so I am going to have 4-5 hours to myself! Planning on napping and playing piano and reading quietly. Then dinner somewhere and watch Shawshank Redemption. We are touring the prison where it was filmed next week.

My guests went to take the Staten Island ferry back and forth, then Battery Park City/Hudson River Park. Maybe a movie if the rain comes down too hard.

I went to the greenmarket (yummy strawberries!) and bagel store. Now home bringing order into chaos in my apartment, then grupo inglés-español inside the bar until it stops raining, then outside under the umbrellas on the sidewalk.

Today I am doing pretty much nothing. Hope to finish a book and organize photos from our recent trip. Been running myself ragged the last two weeks and decided it is OK to relax at home for a day.

Going to a local gathering spot to a FIFA watch party. They’ve had watch parties for most of the games.. I’m going with two friends and we’ll meet another friend there. First game is Croatia vs. Ghana. We’re cheering for Croatia!

I am not feeling well. The stomach bug I had over Memorial Day weekend, and then again ten days later, seems to have returned. I have no appetite at all and am feeling slightly dizzy. So of course I’m thinking brain tumor . . . . ‘Cause I don’t think I’d get a stomach bug three times in a row.
