Hit the Y for the first time in a couple of weeks-treadmill, weights, stretching.
I need to revise my menus until I’m confident that my bagged-salad lunches won’t make me sick. Plain yogurt and muesli until I get to the grocery store.
#2D and her BF had their offer accepted on a house this morning, so we made an appointment at the CU for the memo to go with the funds we’re giving to her. H went to the open house yesterday and was impressed more than he was expecting. It’s in a great neighborhood & walking distance to shopping and amenities; she’s thrilled, and we are as well. How and when did these kids become adults? Haha
I got quite a bit accomplished today. It was a beautiful morning so my dog got a nice long walk.
Called my dentist to inquire about a dental visit from January for which we never got a bill, but got partial reimbursement from our insurance. Turns out they switched from mailing paper statements to email/online billing but I never got an email. She read me my email which is firstnamelastname@…com. Yep, that’s me. But then I said - how did you spell my last name? As I suspected, they substituted the wrong vowel which happens all the time b/c our last name has two common spellings? Ugh! So I paid the bill over the phone and she said she’d email the new statement. And…I just realized it never came! So now I have to call back and find out where she sent it!! A little bit irritating b/c we have been going to this practice for 20+ years so it would have been nice to be notified they were changing how they bill.
Then I got a pedicure - a nicer one than the basic I usually get thanks to a gift certificate for my birthday.
From there, dropped off three Amazon returns at UPS, then went to get my hair done.
Stopped in the car dealership across the street to check out a car I want to get. Not ready to buy now but wanted to compare models/packages for when I am ready or see the right car come in (I want a certified used).
Came home and called Adidas b/c a pair of sneakers I ordered arrived with what appears to be cat urine on the box that also damaged one of the sneakers inside the box. Soooo gross! The outer shipping box was fine, just the shoe box was damaged. Got a return shipping label and will send back tomorrow.
Now waiting for a late dinner that dh is making. Should be ready soon. Back to work tomorrow!
Back from the dentist where I learned that he can put on another crown and save the tooth. I cheered; apparently first time a patient has cheered for a crown. Very relieved no extraction and replacement tooth needed.
And I finished my miniature house; all except the final lights wiring. That will involve stripping the ends of 26 teeny wires, then connecting two bunches of 13. It was a fun build.
Started the day with Sabapup not feeling well. I had to google if dogs could be impacted by Cyclosporiasis because that is just the way my mind works. Happily it is unusual but I had to run to the vet with a sample and pick up some probiotics. Hopefully it is nothing. Went to the gym, did some laundry. I have to say it has been a tiring and frustrating day with H. I am at the point of wondering how we have stayed married for nearly 39 years!
I feel somewhat accomplished today. In addition to all the regular stuff, we dealt with a specialty drug issue that involved two calls. We’ll see whether those did the trick. Went to optometrist for post-cataract check-up, and I seem to be in the 30% who have a membrane complication that might require another procedure down the road. In good news, he said that I tested 20/20 for the first time ever. I am so excited by that!
Husband and I have been together over 50 years and sometimes I think we have nothing in common. Conversation yesterday: First he was a little miffed when I declined the opportunity to have him explain changes over the years in soccer refereeing. Then he was miffed when I tried to discuss the upcoming movie The Odyssey and I was a bit incredulous that he thinks he may have read either The Iliad or The Odyssey in high school but not sure which, didn’t think they were related, and my brief descriptions didn’t ring a bell. Achilles? Helen of Troy? Odysseus? Never heard of them.
Lovely weather here. Left the windows and front door open all day. Spent most of the day tailoring some pants I bought recently and hemming a favorite tee-shirt dress that’s just a bit too long. DH grilled a Cornish game hen to split for dinner. We binged a bit of The Office (our favorite filler program) and then sat on the porch for a while as it got dark and a soft rain started. It only lasted about 20 minutes, but it brought out that deep pine smell we both love. I’m typing this with the window over our bed wide open so the woodsy aroma will wash over us as we sleep, and we can pretend we’re glamping.
We went to H’s lung doctor and cardiologist today. It seems from test results the lungs are ok but perhaps the heart may be slightly under par. H is having a 14 day holter test & had some blood testing.
I’m having a CT cardiac calcium scoring test in a few weeks. We shall see what we learn. Later the doc suggested we may want to have H get a cardiac catherization test, to accurately measure blood pressure of heart valves.
Argh. Going to the dentist to have the post put in for my implant. Just trying to keep up with @VeryHappy . I HATE going to the dentist more than I hate anything else…really!
Then I’ll come home hopefully not in agony. Go down to the lake for a few hours, and then watercolor class tonight.
I feel very accomplished today. I hung 2 pictures. (Family photos on my “Grandma Wall”.)
Next I installed Toto bidet seat that I’d bought during Prime Days on my toilet. Yay for me! I watched a YouTube video and installation went exactly as it had shown. I just need to wait for SIL to have some free time so he can drill holes in the wall to permanently mount the remote holder.
This afternoon–plan dinner for the household, which will probably require a grocery run. Pick up kids from day camp at 4 and then make dinner. There’s leftover lemon bundt cake I made yesterday. And I made pressure cooker pulled pork last night for me, but BBQ pork sandwiches won’t work for the rest of the family. Maybe bean and cheese nachos?
I spent 16 hours in the ER yesterday with D2 who had uncontrollable vomiting. This is the first time she has been to the ER in 17 months since she found out her food allergies. She went to a Love Island party at a friend’s house on Sunday and thinks she may have eaten something there (possible cross contamination?). When she starts getting sick she can’t stop and it is a horrible cycle. The reason we go to ER versus an urgent care to get her an IV is because on two different occasions the urgent care staff have punctured a vein and she bleeds everywhere. They finally got her somewhat stabilized and we returned to her place at 2 am. She is still not feeling great this morning, but she is not vomiting. I’m hoping she will be able to get a few hours of sleep soon and then maybe she will start doing better.
Last night, we had our nonprofit board meeting and worked on titles for the talks for our September event, as well as finalizing the time table. When I got home, we had a late meal, went for a walk and then I corrected the minutes & sent them out, updated press release and sent it out, updated exhibit form/sponsorship and sent it out, updated letter requesting exhibits and sponsorships and sent it out as well. My D said she will help us with a poster/flyer.
Yikes! Sounds like the urgent care needs better training! We don’t go to urgent care because they have told us they can’t do imaging and other things they believe H should have and tell us to go to ER instead. We don’t end up paying more out of pocket by going to ER, so we just go there as directed. Once in the car, we just go where they think they will be best able to help. Fortunately, after discharge we can often get in to see PCP quickly (rather than a month + later).
I am sorry about food cross-contamination causing her such a severe reaction. That would make me nervous about eating away from home since it’s hard to know when there is cross contamination—it’s sadly too common.
I’m impressed you were able to install your own bidet seat! Congratulations! I’ve left nearly all repairs that require more than a simple screwdriver to my husband and been VERY lazy. Good for you! Nice you can help with picking up kids–bundt cake sounds yummy!
