What are you doing today?

We are on a family vacation in Canada, Lake Huron shore. Pretty much everyday starts with most family members doing their favorite form of exercise (bike! Run! Walk! Beach walk! Yoga!). Everyday followed up by a big breakfast made by me - this morning I tried a new recipe for a “McGriddle” casserole and fruit - it was delicious! We have doing lots of beach time everyday but after we all had our exercise time this morning, an hour later - very fast - our area became very affected by the Canada fires and our air quickly deteriorated. You feel like you can taste the smoke! The sun looks like an eclipse situation!
Change of plans and we decided to spend the afternoon at a small lake town nearby. Watched the soccer game at a local pub with the owner, lol - weirdly because of the weather I guess, the town was sort of a ghost town. Did a little shopping. Some of the family is at the driving range, the rest of us at home doing a puzzle and making Italian food for dinner.

Later we will play night two of the board game Wavelength, a family favorite.

I’m a little nervous that the rest of our time here will be affected by the smoke. What can you do??.

After we rearranged all our lunch plans, the person who is housebound cancelled. Her grandchildren are coming over. Sigh!

Back to our original plans which I liked better!

I love the Lake Huron shore, especially on the Canadian side! I haven’t been in probably ten years & need to go again.

Ours is a tiny nonprofit but we are celebrating our 20th anniversary and are a 501c3 and will just see what happens. We have just started Canva yesterday so only have free account.

It’s our paradise!!! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Nice day here. Desk at the artisans guild until 1:30. Then off to run a few errands. Meeting DH for a ballroom dance lesson at 3. Then home for an early dinner. Tonight going to a town committee meeting about restructuring our town schools.

Actually a very nice day!

Definitely not going outside more than necessary. The sky is blanketed with smoke from the wildfires - it smells like a dirty fireplace. The air quality index is 500. Everything looks eerie. I can’t imagine how bad it must be closer to the fires.

Boring day here. It was a sleep in day, and of course, my body couldn’t sleep in. Up at 4am. I went downstairs and put back together the cabinet under the kitchen sink. Sunday night, the pipe between the disposal and the sink came loose and flooded the cabinet. I took everything out to let it dry, but needed new shelf paper. Too lazy to make an extra trip to Walmart, so it waited until Walmart Wednesday. I confess I have been highly annoyed all week having to step around all the bottles on my kitchen floor. But I was too lazy to put it together last night… hence this morning at 4am I got it done. Threw away a couple of bottles that were practically empty (H is terrible at this!) and combined a couple other. I feel much better.

Then I read, played piano, did German stuff, some mobility exercises, and came to work. Work will hopefully be boring. I do have a meeting this afternoon about downtown parking. I also need to order the photo book of older S/DIL1’s wedding. I have been working on that the last week in mpix. Tonight is fast food dinner out night, exactly where TBD, though I doubt it’ll be a Zaxby’s salad! followed by TV. We’ve been enjoying Your Friends and Neighbors. Season 1 finale should be tonight…

@kelsmom same here. I was considering a walk this morning before it gets too hot, but I stepped outside and the smoke smell is very heavy. We are under a bad air quality warning.

I have my strength training this afternoon and then Mahjong. Thankful for these inside activities because between the heat and the smoke I have had a hard time getting out.

Another upper Midwest person here who has decided to forgo her walk today. The sun was orange today, smells terrible and is very hazy. Happy for AC and my HEPA filter.

I am playing golf tonight which isn’t the best idea but it should be quick and not too strenuous. I hate saying no to someone who needs a sub. I do feel bad that I declined to play golf this morning.

I’ve ironed and cleaned a bit. Will go to lunch later. Anyone do ironing and then see all the other things I should have ironed also? I’m not big on ironing anything but sometimes summer clothing looks better.

Beautiful cool, breezy day here. I repainted my stand mixer yesterday and let it dry overnight. Here’s the before and after:

Got a quote today for sealing the attic against bats as we think we’ve heard one(?) a couple of times. Definitely not paying THAT, so DH is getting another quote. Maybe we’ll just learn to consider them charming (not).

Tonight I begin this 4-day workshop:

I will wear a mask walking to-from the subway–soupy here too.

In keeping with CC Dental Week, I am back from getting my replacement crown. Faster than the first crown, and so happy they can do it all in house- total time under two hours.

And last night I finished wiring my newest miniature house. The latest is always my favorite!

Went down a rabbit hole about Parkinson’s today when it was mentioned on another thread.

My uncle died with Parkinson’s many years ago and it’s always bothered me. No direct relationship to me but I always wondered if it could affect my cousins through a genetic link.
What I found is that it’s highly probable he got it through chemical exposure from work environment in the 60’s and 70’s (paper mill). I don’t know if anyone even considered it at the time.

It has been a quiet day for me. Mr. Sabaray headed north for a family get together. Sabapup and I have had multiple walks and she has been my downsizing assistant. I realized that I am never going back to work so quite a few work clothes did not survive a closet purge. Some texts with D, perused Zillow and Redfin. All in all a day like any other except very, very warm, hazy, humid and now the smoke.

I don’t know what has gotten into me this week. I keep getting up early and getting to it.

Had a looong call with my former neighbor first thing this morning. Her dh is out of town, and mine was at work so the impromptu call was perfect.

I worked out and prepared an early lunch. We have had rain much of the day and Hill Country flooding  so the local channels are all news and I couldn’t watch my soaps so instead I moved on something we’ve been talking about for months – doing some home reno/refresh things. We had met with a Realtor friend and stager earlier this year so we had contact names but haven’t actually emailed the suggested landscaper or contractor. Got that done!

Did some financial stuff, including getting word that the appraisal district lowered our assessed value. Yea! That started a whole flurry of things while listening to ds2 on the radio.

Going to watch the WNBA tonight. Go, Mystics!

What kind of paint/technique do you use on your mixer? Inquiring minds want to know!

How do you get a new crown in under two hours? This inquiring mind needs to know!!

They have a magic machine that builds it in house. So first they prepare the area, take X-rays, then use a special camera that measures everything. Then the machine uses that info to create the crown. It takes maybe half an hour. It cools, they check the fit, and cement it in place.

This is not my dentist but explains it better than me.
