What is this taste test? Is it a product they offer with 12 different chocolate??
How did you do that??
Yes, it was 12 different chocolates with different fillings. They tell you what all 12 are and you’re supposed to cut them into 1/4ths and guess which is which.
Took one of my elderly cats to vet for her annual check up. Bought pastries for tomorrow’s breakfast on the way home.
Dropped cat off at home, then went to Home Depot to buy snow melt in preparation for the 1-2 feet !!! of snow that’s expected this weekend.
I have a dental cleaning scheduled for later this afternoon.
In between, I’m reading a book about the domestication (or lack thereof) of cats.
1-2 feet?! And you thought Michigan was bad.
What state do you live???
They’re actually predicting 2 feet now here in southern Virginia for Sat-Sun. But, the official local news stations aren’t calling it yet. It’s just the 10 day forecast based on the weather models on weatherunderground and the weather channel. I’ve seen enough big forecasts that turned out to be much less (3-8”) to not panic quite yet. But if we do get 2 feet - and then it’s supposed to stay under freezing for several days…. nobody in this city will be going anywhere for quite some time.
My co-worker is mad because he JUST got off snow detail after 20 years. He should have been taken off long ago, but he’s very good at what he does… but his employee who took his place just put in his 2 week notice last week, so he’s back on. I’m just hoping that I won’t be called in for dispatch. Technically I’m not on it, but if my department is working 12 hour shifts round the clock for a week, I might get called in. Because all other public duties (i.e. garbage pick-up) still needs to happen as well… Blech… In any case though, I still need to be at work in the office 8-5 no matter what. We don’t close ever, because then they’d have to pay my co-workers, police/fire overtime, and nobody wants that! (eyeroll)
Atlanta is calling for snow / ice Sunday night into Monday. It’s always maybe/maybe not since we seem to be a dividing line of sometimes below us gets it and sometimes above us gets it but we are left unscathed. Grocery stores will have a run on milk and bread regardless.
It’s the beer and chips aisles that take a beating.
Yay—today we got our driver’s licenses renewed! They issued me a new paper one and I also got them to replace my handicapped placard—it was curving and the numbers were faded, making it difficult to read. We got everything done today! Yay! My renewal is for 8 years. H got renewed for 2 more years (because he’s >80).
Lucky to be getting a renewal because I lost my license last month and didn’t replace because I was planning on renewing now. Fortunately banks haven’t made a fuss about cashing even very large checks with my electronic DL, but better to have plastic card.

They will check the cost with our usual co-pay and the Costco price, and we pay the lower one. My husband’s prescription is for a nasal spray with a $47 co-pay. I asked them if there was a discount price & it came out to $20. My prescription got a similar discount.
On the ferry to Manley. Last photo is a view of the entrance to the Sydney Harbour. Last day here.
Went to my strength training class and stopped at the library. Did some laundry, read. Talked to my sister.
Worried about my house with the bitter cold.
Worried about my car with the cold.
Worried about the situation in my city.
Worried about my health issue.
Worried about family members.
I tracked down my copy of The Thorn Birds - I may re-read it before heading to NZ and Oz next month. Following in @jym626’s footsteps. Well, not really, not going on a cruise. But many of the same places!
you have an easier travel schedule with only one flight. We have the extra cross country flight. Makes for a long travel day. But you will love your trip. It’s glorious.
One flight to get there, one flight between islands (part of the Globus tour), one flight to Sydney for our four days, and one flight home. I understand the time differential isn’t all that bad for us.
How long is the flight?
Worked out early as I was meeting a friend for lunch. We planned on one place, but she called while I was on my way and said we need to change restaurants because she is there now and a long line is sticking out the door. We have no idea what’s up with that place so we went to another spot that I actually preferred anyway. Super fun lunch. I have such wonderful friends. She brought me magnets from her most recent travels, so now I have one from every continent!
I am so relieved that bad weather has canceled our plans to drive 3+ hours for a baby shower this weekend. We told them we weren’t going, and now they’ve rescheduled but dh is working on the new date so I’m still going to miss it. Yea!!!
Was almost 5 hrs domestic, then a 3 hr or so layover, and then about 14 hrs or so international. The reverse requires us to clear customs in LAX and then we have to recheck our bags which is a little bit of a pain but manageable. I think also flying back is daylight the whole time, but I suspect the passengers on the window seat seats will keep the blinds down. We have the lay flat seats and this time I will be smart and take something to help me sleep. The window seats are staggered so you’ll end up feeling like you’re sitting alone if you take a window seat. So we take the center two seats and open the little doorway/window between the two of us so at least we can share food and chat.
I found mine too! while I was packing to move. Also my favorites by Rosamond Pilcher (Shell Seekers, Coming Home) and while I’m trying to downsize, I decided to take these for ‘one more read.’
Sadly, not going to Australia, Scotland, or Cornwall.
Oh, with that much time on a plane I do think I’d splurge for the good seats, if I could afford it! Glad your trip is going well and you had a good time. Safe travels home!
