What are you doing today?

Just sitting around the salon while my grey roots disappear. Later I will do some ironing, change my mind once again on which shirts to bring on the trip, and redo the bedding in hopes of finally sleeping in.

I’m going to nice brunch at local community arts culinary program, having consult with periodontist surgeon about possible release of tongue tie.

Later, I will contemplate our current investments and consider how to reorganize and potentially simplify. Also take notes on “My Mother’s Money,” by Beth Pinkser to make life easier for our kids when they have to take over our finances.

Ok, inspired by this thread, had H complete a change of name form for H because Chase messed up his name in CCard and made it ABCD K ABCD instead of ABCD K LastName. Put signed, completed form in envelope with a photocopy of his new driver’s license which happily just arrived and walked it to mailbox in shopping center, so 1 mile round trip.

Now on to notes and making charts recommended by Beth Pinsker.

Exercise class, home to shower and then dentist appointment where I sat and waited 30 minutes. Never used to wait more than 5. I suspect the chain practice that took over when my dentist retired last year schedules appointments closer together. My hygenist, who continued from the old practice, is a talker (pausing to talk). I was annoyed. And hungry. If they’d let me know she was behind I would have gone out to my car to get a granola bar. Instead it was “you’re checked in. She’ll be with you shortly.” And then I was ignored until I went to the counter to ask after 30 minutes.

Spent way too much time composing a post this morning and then lingering with DH over a second cup of coffee before getting into my weekly Thursday chores, so just now having lunch (it’s 1PM here). It’s another beautiful day, so I’m going to suggest to DH that we hop into his convertible, turn up the Beach Boys or some other nonsense, and go find some ice cream.

Last night was our granddaughter’s 4th birthday. We tried to do a FaceTime with her and our other child. The birthday girl was being shy and probably overstimulated, she sat with her back to the phone except when my daughter showed her turtle eating lettuce. We will be there next week.

Today I drank my cappuccino. Walked the neighborhood, it was snowing again.

I bought a package of 10 plows, last week was number 11. I wonder if he will be back tonight. He comes when we get 3” or more. It’s been a snowy winter, which is great for our local economy.

Returned an Amazon package, bought snacks, I’m hosting mahjong next week. I’m trying not to keep snacks in the house.

Watched the ice dancing documentary. Will make dinner and decide if we watch law and order tonight or the Lincoln Lawyer that dropped on Netflix today.

Need to back track on our day. Our FedEx is always terrible. Give me usps any day. H has an $$ package coming that must be signed for. Window was 10-2, so he took off of work - losing a half day of pay.

2 comes and goes. Now it’s the end of the day. So someone has to be here. There goes our tour of the building. I told him to pick up dinner and bring it in, but he hates that - even fast food he refuses to eat it at home. So he made a frozen pizza. And 10 min ago they texted that they are getting ready to set up a new date/time for us.

We are going out of town tomorrow for the weekend. If they could deliver it before 2, it might work, but I have a meeting at 8 and an eye doctor appointment at 11:30. I’d rather he not miss another day of pay for a package that may/may not arrive. And if you miss them 3 times - whether or not they show during your window - they send it back to the sender this has happened to us before

Grumble grumble grumble. And whenever they do deliver it without needing a signature, they always put it in the most weird random hidden places. USPS is always timely and right on the porch. And we don’t have a FedEx branch in town. Nearest one is an hour away. Grumble grumble grumble. FedEx blows

I work 3 days a week and the last 3 were meeting heavy as I was helping to do some interviewing for new staff - I loved being an assist with this! Exercised this morning before work, walked the dog - both a morning routine.
I’m getting a little itchy (ok ALOT itchy and also LITERALLY itchy!)with winter and being stuck inside so after work did a Costco run because tomorrow is suppose to be a snow mess. I rarely go to Costco at 5pm and while I’m not always attacking the sample people they actually had some tasty ones tonight. One was a breakfast pizza which actually was pretty tasty. But at 2 pizza for $20 I can just steal the idea and make my own.

Leftovers and watching some St Denis tonight unless there is any notable Olympic stuff yet.

We just got back from a very funny comedy show. I always feel better after laughing. The hand that I scalded is starting to hurt, and I can see blisters beginning to take root. I’ll pick up my prescription for that in the morning - but I think I’m in for a few uncomfortable days dealing with the inevitable. I took an ibuprofen to help manage the inflammation. So tonight was good & not so great.

This morning I colored my hair, which I hate doing, but it’s $80 plus tip at the salon, so here we are, coloring my own hair. Watered the indoor plants. Finished packing for my trip to see the grandkids, and DH drove me to the airport for my 1:30 flight. I got to the airport around 11:45, which was early but not too early. My flight was delayed five hours. We finally left at 6:15. I made some new friends while waiting, but by the time I got here the grandkids were asleep. :person_in_bed:

And I finished the book that was supposed to last me all weekend.

Whoa! My day took a turn. At 6:45, someone in my Buy Nothing group offered up a pair of tix to the game i said upthread that I was going to watch on TV tonight. I got them! So dh and I got to see UT exact revenge on LSU and Rori Harmon become the all-time steals leader in school history. Woohoo!

And now I’m so hyped I can’t go to sleep! I hope that I don’t see y’all on the insomniacs thread!

Wow, that’s awesome! I’m jealous!

Currently watching the Opening Ceremonies. Otherwise not much. We had our final contracted visit from our rat whisperer- nothing to report so looks like we cut off the ingress from the few guys who found a way in after being rat-free for a number of years.

Made a white chocolate mocha. Scrolled CC. Ate breakfast.

Daughter texted, her husband is having surgery next week. We will be there over the weekend, wanted us to stay a few extra days to help out which we are happy to do

Called my mom, I talked about that on parents helping parents, don’t want to rehash that!

Walked the neighborhood. The plow driver asked if I wanted my driveway cleared, I did but this is the 12th time this season. I can imagine that some are trying to shovel themselves or wait the snow out.

Went out for our favorite burgers for lunch. We like to get out if we can.

My bil called, he was driving so my husband and I caught up with him on our respective lives.

Trying to watch the opening ceremonies. Kinda weird but that’s ok with me.

I forgot and buried the lead! My husband’s medicine came!!! Yea! I finally downloaded the FedEx app and now I can track my packages which is a game changer. I don’t have issues with FedEx like @ClassicMom98 has. Delivery is individually owned so that would account for the difference in service between locations

We watched the US women’s hockey game - 4 on the team, including the captain, play on the local PWHL team and then some of the curling and snowboarding.
Coffee and puzzles during and after.

H took me up to Trader Joe’s (I cannot wait to get the ok to drive) to refill my staples. Surprisingly not busy; we even had a close-in parking space.

More Olympics watching this evening while having leftovers for dinner.

Well, I didn’t get enough sleep because I had a 20oz Diet Coke at the 8 p.m. game last night. Doh! But I got up and worked out before my lunch with a friend. Our sons were bffs in HS, and we spent some of the lunch texting with them and their friends. lol

But here’s the news … tomorrow we are going to the 50th wedding anniversary dinner of dh’s brother and his wife. Dh got the evite weeks ago and told me it was dinner at a steakhouse. OK, cool. We’ll drive in tomorrow midday and get home before the Super Bowl comes on (this is a 2+ hour drive) Sunday. Well, today I learn the details. He thought I also got the evite. There is a dress theme and dancing and family are flying in for this and IT’S A WHOLE THING! I would’ve put some thought in all of this if I had known. Now, they get what they get. They want us to stay for the Super Bowl and celebrate the 15th birthday of our nephew’s son etc etc etc. Dh works Monday. I had no idea that this is a whole weekend thing. I’m irritated but at least now I have an excuse for not staying the whole weekend, although if I’d known I could’ve planned for it. I told dh that I want to be home for the Super Bowl because his brother would make us watch the Kid Rock halftime. IYKYK

Usual exercise routine in the morning. Extra Apple Watch points for 10 mins of snow removal. Had my annual check up today and got my pneumonia shot which I haven’t got yet :white_check_mark:. Did my labs afterwards.

Been looking for a solution to make one small cupboard shelF near the stovetop a sliding shelf/tray. Without being anything too permanent. Made a stop at Home Goods and found one! Going to put less used cooking utensils in it because my utensil container next to the stove is too full even after I’ve reduced what utensils I have.

Came home, baked some “healthier” brownies. Did another short exercise video. And having shrimp, baked potatoes and salad for dinner. And watch Traitors and hopefully a little Olympics! I don’t watch any tv during the day so we will see what I can fit in tonight.

Another day not to be wasted doing routine things. We lingered over our coffees outside this morning which inspired DH to suggest trying a new neighborhood Greek restaurant, so we had lunch on their patio and then went to a local marketplace/swap meet and walked a couple of miles wandering in an out of vendor stalls. Came home to evening music and cocktails while DH grilled salmon for dinner.

Looks like we’ll be playing it by ear the next week while this weather holds:

@deb922 I downloaded the FedEx app yesterday. Beware! Because both yesterday and today, not only did it have the same delivery windows as the texts, it said that it had left the final station and was out for delivery - which we now know was completely false.

And the only choices I had was to put it on hold - which is to have them dump it at dollar general. Or vacation hold - which nowhere would it tell me what that would do.

Edit - I should be eating with my kids right now. But instead I have 2 hours to go. We had to eat on our own on the way. Hopefully if nothing delays us, we can pop in for a few minutes to say hello before going to the hotel and bed. We get up at 3:50am so 10pm is late for us!

Got back to yoga this morning. Walked to my eye doctors office to get the frames of my prescription sunglasses tightened. The office is about 1/3 mile from my house, through the neighborhood. A lot of the snow is melting.

After lunch I cleaned my kitchen and first floor bathroom, dusted and vacuumed that level. Drove over and saw D, her in laws ( they fly out tomorrow) and GS. SIL was at a work event, GD was at daycare.

Made an early dinner and will watch Olympics.
