What are you doing today?

It’s been very warm in Denver. Today, at 4 pm, I saw a mailman delivering in shorts and his short sleeve shirt. I hope he finished his route before dark (temps fall pretty quickly with the sun).

And I received the ‘pre-authorization’ after the appointment and that said they WOULD pay for the whole thing, like $900, and since I paid the dentist $300, I should be getting that back. I need to call them.

They make it impossible to know what I have to pay and what is covered.

Today, just read on NextDoor they’re going to start charging at a bank D and I have small accounts if you don’t have big auto-deposit, so we closed our accounts. Took the cashier’s check over to nearby credit union and opened an account there. After I got home, applied for their CCard which gives 2.5% cash back, max of $5000 charge/month. (Had to thaw Experian while they evaluate, so thawed until Monday.)

Called Schwab to double-check that we got correct paperwork for our IRA 1099-R to do conversion of traditional to Roth IRA.

Oh & bought some tulips @ Safeway, $10 for 10 blooms.

Tulips are my favorite.

Well, best laid plans …

My IBS picked 3 a.m. this morning to come roaring back with cramps like I haven’t had in 30 years so I sent dh to the big anniversary weekend without me. :face_holding_back_tears:

Staying indoors. It’s bitter cold here with high winds too. I found some soup in our freezer and it’s defrosting.

I guess I like to talk about my daily coffee intake lol

I had a cappuccino and a white chocolate mocha this morning. It’s the weekend after all! Scrolled CC, watched the Olympics ate breakfast

Took a short walk outside, it’s 15 degrees out. It wasn’t too bad but I didn’t want to go that far.

Watched more and more Olympics today. Remembered Gold Zone from the last Olympics.

We plan on ordering pizza tonight, better than tomorrow on Super Bowl Sunday

We are having a nice, albeit cold, day in dc. Went to the air and space and then to Georgetown to eat.

Latest FedEx saga. Another notification they are coming. This time a 2 hour window. We call and yes they are coming - despite the supervisor yesterday insisting there was no way it would come before next week. So he suggested he would put a hold on it until Monday assuring us it wouldn’t get dumped at Dollar General. It’s already in the truck, but as soon as they scan it, they’ll know that it’s on hold.

Guess who just rang our Ring trying to deliver the package - ugh. Hopefully they won’t try again tomorrow. H is so fretted over his package, he wouldn’t even bring his phone to DC because he didn’t want to see anymore texts, notifications, rings, etc.

but here are some pictures from our nice day!

Heavy snow AGAIN, on top of large amounts already fallen. Wind. Temps going to single digits and with wind chill, well below zero. Coastal MA. The past few weeks have felt like COVID lockdown!

By the way, never knew turkeys could sleep high up in trees. Thirty two in the trees in front of my house. Really something to see them flying too.

We have lots of rabbits and lots of coyotes and I am close to downtown (small town). This morning I think I see deer tracks.

Delivery can be super frustrating. I had a similar issue with Sabadog’s prescription food.
It is bitter cold here today with wind and we had a dusting of snow overnight. It doesn’t seem as bad as they were calling for initially but the wind chill is miserable.
Last night we watched the most recent episode of The Pitt. Today I was up at the usual time and took the dogs for their walk, then their breakfast. A second walk followed a few hours later. We have a drafty basement window that we have “insulated” and with the strong winds the insulation came down! So I secured that yet again. Hopefully today is our last bitterly cold day. Downloaded some additional tax forms but am still waiting for a few. I planned some snacks for tomorrow’s Bad Bunny show and looked at condos in the DC area online. Will make some chili for dinner, H’s request. He’s been resting most of the day.

Book Club this morning. It was in a nearby coffee shop so I walked. Afterwards I walked another few blocks to the post office and Walgreens.

Continued errands after lunch. Library, hardware store and put gas in my car.

Back home I replaced a battery I had bought at the hardware store in a glass break sensor and also replaced a furnace filter. Yay me.

Currently hanging out with Olympics on. I’ll be going to a local luminary event with some friends this evening.

Such interesting things cumulatively! And @deb922 I like hearing your morning hot beverage!

My mornings always include a “rinse and repeat” of home exercise for at least 30 mins and then a pup walk - he’s a pretty good walker so even with all his leg lifts we can still manage a 4mph pace.

After laundry and oatmeal for breakfast I headed out for a few errands. Aldi for a few food items for dinner and Super Bowl food, a local greenhouse for a mental lift - all that green! Even in winter! GREAT cold winter day activity - it’s lovely warm in there and they actually have a coffee shop in the greenhouse so a nice escape. Highly recommend if you have a greenhouse open near you and you’re SICK of winter! I am thinking about buying an indoor citrus tree, one of my reasons for going there, but they only had one lemon and one lime and they looked like “leftovers”.

Then I made a stop at a thrift store because why not, I had time. I hit the 75% off rooms and got a few items for H to resell (he loves when I do this) - great brands like JCrew, Athleta and Vineyard Vines, vintage Coldwater Creek for no more than $1 each and in good shape. I also picked up a few fun things for me. A vintage Koret hooded vest with gold buttons, a pair of JCrew lightweight khaki green capri jeans (.75 cents from the discount room!) a light spring green cotton cardigan for spring and a casual 3/4 sleeve white shirt that is all nice and soft worn in and pristine white with a little navy blue! Thrifting is the perfect “eat up some time” winter activity. The store was actually quite busy.

Talked on the phone to my sister in Texas, and to my s and DIL who are driving back from Chicago. About to make some pork chops, wild rice and snap peas for dinner and then cuddle up with a blanket to watch some Olympics - if I can figure out what I want to watch!

I found some frozen chicken soup in the freezer. Made some rice…had Chicken rice soup for dinner. With these temps, it was the perfect night for soup!!

Scrolled CC while enjoying my morning cappucino. Had my hair cut (badly needed) at the salon, picked up some hors d’oeuvres and charcuterie ingredients from the grocery store to prepare some trays to feed DH’s friends who will be meeting at our house on Monday for a guy thing. DH is grilling steak tonight which we’ll enjoy with a nice bottle of wine and then a couple of episodes of Yellowstone before retiring to bed to read.

Not planning anything for tomorrow as we won’t be attending anyone’s Super Bowl party this year, so we’ll be saving ourselves a lot of calories (but Go Pats!). Tomorrow is our son’s BD, so we’ll probably FaceTime him, and I’ll be left wondering, once again, what happened to my baby?

Our tree is prolific this year. I’d share if I could, @abasket, but getting an indoor tree is a great idea.

GOALS. :lemon:. That’s gorgeous!

I had one a few years ago and loved it. I put it outside in the summer on a partly sunny deck but I think I kept it out too long into fall and then when I brought it in the room and our hot water heat killed it. I love the look of the foilage!

I just spoke to the credit union. They said I had my credit reports frozen and I said I thawed so they could look at them for my new CC with them and they looked and agreed and promptly approved. They asked me to go to a credit union branch to sign for credit card and I’d have card mailed to me in 7-10 business days (it’s a 2.5% cashback card). Yay! I also got them to give me my account # and my member #! I made 2 separate trips there today, but hopefully am done and it was in Safeway right next to my sister’s place. I picked her up and drove us to a meeting about a lung condition that she has. It was well attended and they had a very nice and good speaker, a lung doc I’ve known from before.

On the way home, I told my sister I wanted to stop and get some vegetarian casserole for Chinese New Year and so she ordered at the place I wanted and we stopped there to pick it up (one order for each of us) on my way to drop her back to her place. Just got home and had the dish–it was piping hot and very tasty! I also removed the thaw so my account with Experian is frozen again, as are my other credit bureau reports. They said my score with Experian was >800.

It’s windy and rainy here, but mostly overcast. Because there was no power in the garage, the arm was up and I couldn’t get a parking ticket. The power came back on and the arm was down when I was trying to exit but I pushed the help button and I explained the power was out when I arrived so I couldn’t get a ticket so they raised the arm and let me out. Yup, my life is pretty boring. Haha—I’m not complaining.

I’m visiting S1, DIL and the two grandkids. Grandson (4) had a birthday party to attend this morning, so DIL took him while S1, granddaughter and I hung out. I played a lot with GD. She just turned seven so it’s way less stressful to me to play with her now. Lots of Barbie and Ken action.

Then this afternoon was granddaughter’s birthday party at the gymnastics place where many of the little girls go. Lots of little-girl screaming, then pizza and cupcakes. I chatted with the other grandma and DIL’s two brothers.

I’m really exhausted. Thank goodness I’m missing the horrible cold and wind back home.

Don’t discount lemon runts! This one was the last one left at HD which I bought on a whim. It lingered for 2 years on the deck and almost froze to death. I was going to throw it away but noticed a green leaf budding. Repotted… and it sprang back to life, and now my living room smells heavenly!
