Those are similar to the buds on the one tree they had. I’ve not ruled it out but there is one (or two) more greenhouses I want to check before I lay down the cash!
Went snowshoeing last night (birthday tradition) with a shirt and ski pants. It was in the 40’s. Then went home and opened the bedroom window to keep it cool. The heating has not been on for days as it has been 60’s. I fear for water shortages this summer. The usual temps are 30s high. Have heard a lot of birds even in the mountains.
I hope you had a happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!
BRR here. Staying indoors. Even our local ski area is closed due to very very low temps and very very high winds.
But the sun is shining!
Exercise this morning. Planned ahead and last night and put two cinnamon rolls out to rise and bake this morning. Sunday is watering the (indoor) plants day!
Took pup for a 2 mile walk. Came back and gave that pup a well needed bath. This afternoon I’ll do some Super Bowl food prep, look for some online Valentine’s surprises to send to the kids and maybe read a bit. Maybe another short walk later.
The family has a Super Bowl bet/contest going so hopefully I’ll win that. ![]()
Coffee, fruit, yogurt, and meusli for breakfast. Puzzles and a quick look at Bluesky and Reddit.
What started as just H and I, the grandpug, and one sister for the Seahawks game has grown to #2D and her BF and maybe a niece as well. No grandpug, though. ![]()
We’ll watch the game and some of the Olympics and eat way too much.

Going to MJ dispensary—running low on tincture we HOPE is helping H get more & better sleep. Will get more supply for our PT too—she uses muscle salve for her patients. She uses gummies for her pain and sometimes sleep.
Pre-packing stuff, like deciding I only need one pair of jeans so which one, that I don’t need slippers, switching out my beach sandals for a different pair, and weighing various stuff. Also decided that it would be smart to get a little exercise (might help my sleep issues) so took a short neighborhood walk. Another beautiful day here.
Went to yoga this morning.changed and washed sheets . Came home and after lunch I cleaned upstairs to include scrubbing out the bathrooms.
Drove up to the lake and walked around for the first time in awhile. Stopped to check out the art shanties on the lake ( literally, you walk out on the ice).
I’m now at D and SIL’s “ watching “ the football game. I’ll leave after halftime.
Apparently, watching the Pats handily lose the game.
Don’t know the halftime artist, so we’re going to switch over to Yellowstone and watch the last two episodes and call it a night.
I refilled the waterrower that D emptied to re-seal with epoxy. It doesn’t leak! I’m very pleased. Now we have one more way to exercise, especially in weather that’s wet or uninviting for walking. Also printed out some our important documents for the In Case of Emergency book:
- Names, relationship & contact info of closest relatives—our siblings & their kids
- Names & contact info for close friends & neighbors
- Names & contact info & notes about our current medical providers
- Vaccination records
- Current medications being taken
- Financial people to contact
- Xerox of our driver’s licenses, medicare cards & medical insurance cards
I woke up feeling mostly better after sleeping OK last night. Worked out with my online trainer, who did a cardio workout today. Dh texted and asked whether I wanted him to bring me food from my favorite Houston restaurant. Uh, yeah! So had that for dinner as well as some desserts from the celebration I had missed that dh brought for me. He told me all the news from the party, including seeing people he hadn’t seen since he was a teen. We also had a deep convo about how we are stressed about ** waves hand dramatically ** everything, specifically our kids in Minneapolis. I’m sure that’s what has caused my IBS to flare. We watched the game and now am watching skating, finally!
Picking kid up from hospital after treatment for kidney stone. They have been incommunicado and didn’t allow visitors so they could rest and “process” so I am looking forward to seeing them.
Trying not to fall asleep at my desk… A space heater aimed right at one’s face has the tendency to make one zzzzzzzzz…. I did get up at 3:15am, so I could go to the gym with H and workout. I guess it’s kind of early afternoon for me.
For some crazy reason when today’s new doctor asked to reschedule at 7:45 a.m. I didn’t realize the new date was the morning after the Super Bowl and the Olympics. Zzzzz. In good news, I think everyone slept in, because traffic through downtown wasn’t bad at all. Still no answers, but the guy seemed to know his stuff so maybe he’ll figure out what’s going on.
For some reason, I am so hungry so I had lunch at about 10. Will be working out on a full stomach.
I need to gather up the trash and recycling and then will stay inside because cedar is so bad. I want to scratch my eyes out right now after being out so early this morning.
Have to get some business done this afternoon while watching the Olympics and then bball tonight.
Excercise class, recycling, grocery store, reheated leftover pizza for lunch and next … taxes. Monday, Monday.
Waking up at 5:00 but at least five hours of sleep. Cleaning the kitchen. Some more preliminary packing. Loading my Kindle. If I’m away from my home WiFi and don’t log on anywhere else, it can’t return books, right?
Phew—just called the POTS cardiologist who moved from HI to TX and is now in CA (I saw him just before he left our state). I am now scheduled to see him when I’m in CA visiting family and seeing my other doc at UCSF. Phew—getting healthcare shouldn’t be this difficult!
We also see a physiatrist later today and then take friends out for a nice multi-course Chinese dinner—happy Year of the Horse—both H and his buddy were born in year of the horse!
Did a once-over cleaning of the kitchen and family room and blew out the front and back patios in advance of DH having his buddies over this afternoon for a multi-flight bourbon tasting that they have been looking forward to for months. In addition to a charcuterie tray, I’m making hot-pepper-jelly brie bites and sweet chicken bacon bites so no one is tasting on an empty stomach. As soon as the hors d’oeuvres are out of the oven, I’ll be whisking myself to the casita for a quiet afternoon of reading, crocheting and, perhaps, napping. DH can handle the cleanup, right?
