Just keep it on airplane mode and keep it charged while on airplane mode. I think that should work!
I thought maybe I could just skip that step and be safe, but I will do airplane mode.
Airplane mode will also help your charge last longer. For my Kindle, it’s a HUGE difference.
Others may tell you differently. I always keep mine on airplane mode unless I’m in the process of downloading a book. Immediately after the book is registering on my Kindle, into airplane mode it goes.
Coffee, NYT reading and games, walked and fed the dogs. Unloaded the dishwasher, a load of laundry. Loaded Sabadog into the car (which is getting to be a challenge) to trek over the mountain to the specialty vet. Got trapped between exits; 81 was at a standstill in both directions due to police activity that resulted in a spectacular crash. Called the vet as we were definitely going to be late but thankfully they could still see her. Uneventful trip home. I was going to work on taxes but I’m exhausted and stressed so why push it? Tomorrow is another day when I can ask what fresh h*ll is this?
Usual coffee, breakfast, puzzles.
H took me to see the PA at the surgeon’s office; everything’s healing v. nicely & no complications. Best of all, I am released to drive.
I see some treadmill walks at the Y in my future. Ok. Tomorrow.
I found that the audiobook I was listening to last month is due today at 10:57pm. Ninety minutes left on it. Guess that’s my before-dinner activity.
I did a whole lot of nothing today! Normally I run errands on Mondays but decided to lay low and rest. I’ve been feeling like a cold was coming on for several days (dry, scratchy throat and sinuses) but have been doing my usual dosing of olive leaf and Vit C. While thankfully a full fledged cold never developed, today I just felt tired with a slight headache.
Fortunately I don’t work on Mondays, but I was supposed to have lunch with my parents. I didn’t want to expose them to anything so I canceled. They did stop by to drop off Valentine’s cards for my kids (yes, despite them being grown adults, she still gives/sends them cards with $). She also dropped off a check for D20 whose birthday is next week. D20 is studying in Rome; my mom did send her a birthday card which arrived more quickly than when she sends mail here in the US!
D20 Facetimed me this afternoon to update me on her travels last weekend. This weekend she will be celebrating her birthday in Budapest with a small group of friends she met at her study abroad program. Ahh, so fun to be young!
I used my lazy day to slog thru and finish a very slow paced book I was reading.
Dinner tonight was leftover Super Bowl apps. Now we are watching college basketball flipping back and forth b/w games as Dh and S22’s alma maters both have games on tonight. I’d rather be watching the Olympics!
Flew home from visiting the grandkids. Our flight was on time, but we then had to sit on the tarmac for 20 minutes until a gate was available. Came home, unpacked, threw tons of stuff in the laundry. Napped. Made dinner, and here we are. I’m going upstairs soon to continue reading a book I’m greatly enjoying – Almonds and Raisins by Maisie Mosco.
Walked in the 12 degree temperatures over to friend’s house. She drove us over to the local gym, and we took part of water aerobics class, sat in hot tub, then attended the chair Pilates class. Then home for late breakfast. Received a text asking if my GD could come over to visit, as she was home from PreK with a cough. We played, snuggled, colored, painted, and I probably inhaled many dangerous germs. She went back next door when DGS 6 got back from school. Ate an early dinner, then picked up a musical friend, and drove to an over-55 apartment complex to meet up with the banjo and bass players, and play a little gig for the local residents. HOme and into pajamas by 8:30!
Driving to Pennsylvania this morning for a couple of hours of skiing and testing my ankle’s recovery from a PRP (platelet rich plasma) injection.
Also, an afternoon phone call with financial advisor. I know the changes I want to make, but talking to him motivates me to “get it done”.
Evening: haircut with the woman who has been cutting my hair for over 25 years. She now books fewer and fewer appointments each year as she moves toward retirement. Luckily, I’m on her good list!
Yesterday, I went to the gym twice — in the morning with my trainer and also a treadmill session. In the evening for a spin class.
Heatwave here. It’s in the 20’s!
Going to the bank (yes, I do that), and running a couple of other errands.
Then, paying bills and writing up minutes from a meeting last night.
Not exactly a fun day…but it needs to get done!
Going up to Scottsdale with my mom to have lunch and wander around Old Town. Maybe we’ll stop at the Sugar Bowl…
My days lately have had twists and turns from what I planned, this is how I hope things go ![]()
Did my usual morning routine, cappuccino, CC, watched the Olympics and news.
We have a wedding in Brooklyn this weekend. We were going to stay at our daughters in Philly, take the train there and back on the same day. Decided at the last minute to go a day before, it won’t be so hectic.
Looked at hotels, most have a 2 day minimum over the weekend (the wedding is Sunday brunch). Booked a hotel that we could only stay Saturday. Remembered that the wedding couple sent an email out with a hotel block. Hooray, the hotel was still honoring the block and we could stay for only Saturday night. It was literally $400 cheaper!
Changed our train tickets. This works because we are staying a few extra days at our daughter’s, when we RSVPed for the wedding, it was up in the air how long we would stay and what the kids plans were.
Cleaned the house because tomorrow I’m hosting mahjong at my house. It’s clean enough lol! I need to be better at being who I am and what my house is and expect that people will be happy to be at my place. Can you tell I’m not great at entertaining!
Need to pick up wine and snacks. Drop off my returnables to a neighbor, she found a charity to take them.
Will try and walk this afternoon because it’s in the 30’s today, can’t waste a heat wave!
Tonight more Olympic watching.
Trying again to go to medical MJ dispensary—Sunday was too windy so we just stayed home.
Also we plan to take friends to dinner again. The older son is returning to SF tomorrow and we want them to try the better jai (Chinese new year vegetarian casserole). The one we had with them last night was ok but underwhelming. We tried a takeout if this place and theirs was VERY tasty. I reserved a table and pre-ordered 2 orders of the vegetarian casserole. We will order more after arriving. The casserole tends not to be made much when it isn’t around Chinese New Year.
I thought I woke at 3:40 am and closed my eyes, then after a bit got up and went to the bathroom. When I got back to bed it was 5:50, so I guess I had fallen back asleep ! Very happy since I went to sleep at 11:30 so got over six hour s of sleep, which is good for me.
Right now washing the sheets so I come back to a clean bed, next a small load of underwear, then some final packing (75% done), and hair wash. Otherwise a boring day. Plenty of time to worry about tomorrow since rain is in the forecast!
Do you leave tomorrow?
I took a nice walk and enjoyed the warm up (41 and sunny!). I also went to look at wallpaper for our powder room and did research on the recommended hangers/painters. I have an on line favorite but will need to make some calls next week. Our plumbers are here supposedly finishing up our sewer project. They were supposed to be done two hours ago. There is shouting happening amongst the crew now. I’m over this project!
Getting into full Mardi Gras prep here in New Orleans. Woke up about 5:15am to go walking, told myself I’d walk when I got home from work and slept to 6:15am. Ate some leftover boudin mixed with eggs and a little cheese for breakfast while reading the WSJ online, did some chores then went to work about 8am. About 11am I left work to drive about a mile over to my preferred seafood vendor and reserve 110 lbs of live crawfish for a Mardi Gras crawfish boil we are hosting this weekend. Then I went to the local ACE Hardware and filled my extra propane tank for the crawfish boil, and had some extra keys made for my friend’s condo near the parade route. I’ll go home today about 4pm, walk four miles (hopefully), then grill some veal loin chops for dinner. After dinner my spouse and I will inflate ten or so blow up mattresses and make them up and position them in the upstairs den in prep for 22 people coming to stay with us Thursday for Mardi Gras. My three adult kids, my DIL and a bunch of their friends are coming in, as they do every year for the past ten years or so.
22 people sleeping over? You are a saint!
Keeps us young, lol
110 pounds of crawfish! Seems like we all could crash the party and not be noticed? ![]()
