I am not a coffee connoisseur but I would love this! Never heard of a “cupper” before!
Washed my car.
Drove w DH to spend a long weekend with my Mom, just visit but also taking her to a doctor appointment. She’s pretty confused but awfully glad to see us. We’re feeling lucky
Today was our boat tour to the Hole in the Rock in the Bay of Islands. There were indeed a lot of islands! It was very windy so the captain wisely not to go through the hole. We stopped on the way back before ferrying back on a little town known today as Romantic Russell, but once called the Hellhole of the Pacific due to the many whaler ships and sailors that stopped there. Currently hanging out at the hotel pool.
It’s been a wonderful but tiring day. We have our out of town kid and her husband and our granddaughter visiting. Spent the day with my sister, the local grandkids and the great grandparents. Three kids under 4 and they have tons of energy. Hope is tomorrow will be somewhat similar with the addition of our 4th grandchild joining us.
A busy Sunday here! Ballroom rescheduled dance lesson in about an hour. Then trip to the grocery store…woohoo. Tonight we are going out to dinner at a seafood place we really enjoy.
And the sun is out!
Yesterday (Saturday) went to the gym – did a lotta stuff for shoulders and back, then 30 minutes on the treadmill. Came home and folded a ton of laundry while watching Call the Midwife. Got two books out of the library for upcoming book club discussions – an errand I had to do yesterday sine the library is closed today and tomorrow for President’s Day. Made chicken fajitas for dinner, then played a bit of Trivial Pursuit with DH. Watched another Call the Midwife episode and went to sleep.
Pedicure (cuz on vacation next week)
I’m listening to mini-med school videos on YouTube—from our state med school. Interesting info. If anyone is interested, it’s mini med-school JABSOM. Anyone can watch for free.
Listened to a Blue zones talk, one about hearts, medical emergencies at home, and now one about Medicare.
Spent a long time on the interwebs this morning. Folded more laundry while I watched another Call the Midwife. Changed the sheets on the bed. Napped. Took the dog to the woods and did our usual 2 1/2 miles – even in the slippery snow. Chatted with my dog park buddies for a little while, then came home. Immediately went to Whole Foods to pick up mushrooms and egg noodles; made beef stroganoff for dinner. Watched America’s Funniest Home Videos (a secret indulgence of mine). Writing this, and then I’ll go upstairs to deal with my 15-minute oral hygiene routine (
) and then read for an hour or so.
Today I spent 6 1/2 hours (not counting stops) on a bus from Bay of Islands to Roratura, passing back past Auckland. Actually two buses, since we switched halfway down at our lunch stop to the better bus we were supposed to get initially. Late afternoon arrival at our hotel, then out to a Māori village dinner and show. Interesting enough but there was a lot of repeat of what we learned up at Treaty House and from our guide.
Going to the awesome Arizona Renaissance Festival where I will pretend (in my head) to be Queen Elizabeth and DH will enjoy watching the wenches. Huzzah!
Gotta love those turkey legs. I will need a nap this afternoon.
Facetimed my daughter in Rome this morning - today is her 21st birthday! She spent the last three days in Budapest with her friends so we got to hear all about her trip. She is having a great time!
I’m leaving shortly for a hair appt. Stopping at the bank on the way to get cash to pay her and deposit a birthday check for D21 that my parents gave me on her behalf.
I need to go grocery shopping at some point this afternoon. Dh leaves on Wed for a nearly two week trip to the West Coast - a golf trip combined with a visit with his mom/siblings who live in San Francisco. Since dh works from home, he makes dinner most nights so now I need to plan some quick/easy meals while he’s gone. Otherwise I’ll be eating cheese & crackers, popcorn, etc LOL. I’d be fine with that but S22 is living here for the next two weeks so I want to feed him well before he moves out on his own (he just got a new job two hours away).
Crawfish boil went very well yesterday. Had about 40 people there. Ate almost all of the 110 lbs. I saved enough for a nice omelet, lol. Today I had a zoom mediation at 8am at my office. Just ran out to give my daughter my SUV so she could ferry herself and friends to the WWII Museum today. Son and DIL leave in about an hour to return home. Daughter and her crew fly out tonight, and youngest son leave tomorrow. I’ll shut down the office about 3pm. Tonight will order pizza or something easy, and drink not one drop of alcohol. Had enough over the weekend at parades. Mardi Gras is tomorrow but Mrs. Vistajay and I are wiped. Think we’ll stay home and bring my son and his friends to the airport. Missing them already.
Wow—I’m super impressed you cooked 110# of crawfish and 40 people consumed most of that! That’s a lot!
Largely off today though did a little computer work for an hour or so this morning so I’d be prepped for an 8am meeting tomorrow. Long pup walk. My own exercise before that.
Mammogram this afternoon and already have results in MyChart within an hour! Negative - always a relief. Stopped at the produce store and stopped to wash my car - add car wash prices to the
prices!!!
Hopefully by the end of the day will have placed an order for a new couch and a new bed for one of our spare bedrooms. Gotta take advantage of the President’s Day sales.
Will take another short walk before making some dinner tonight - Mexican to use up the avocados I have!
Very boring day today, but relaxing.
Spent way too long on the interwebs this morning. Finally got to the gym around 10:30 AM. Did abs. Came home for lunch and our wonderful contractor came by around 1:30 – the storm door on our front door got all bent out of shape during a big windstorm about two weeks ago. He took measurements, will order it and install it. He stayed about an hour for some coffee – he’s also become a good friend.
I’m about to go make chicken marsala for DH and me for dinner, then upstairs to read my latest book – Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine. It’s for a bookclub; I’m enjoying it very much.
Waiting to hear from S1. He and his family went to Disney for a few days and then to visit a good friend of DIL. They should be home by now so I hope to hear from them soon.
Started watching USA women’s hockey this morning and thought I’d just do it for a few minutes. 2+ hours later…
Today felt boring, although it was not that different from most days. Worked out, did laundry, started a puzzle, watched Olympics. I forgot to make the veggies I cut up last night that I planned to have for lunch so put those in late and had them for dinner.
I am so disappointed in the NBC coverage, and I’m too stubborn to pay for Peacock so it is what it is. I caught what they showed of hockey. I thought by the semis the US would get some competion.
The usual coffee and breakfast (a banana) and puzzles.
I got the email that my new iPad had been delivered to Costco, so I picked that up and then headed to the Y.
Keeping my HR to 105 or below is next to impossible. My max to stay there on the treadmill is 2.1 mph, which may as well be standing still. I’m restricted for another 9 days, and then I can start getting back to a normal pace plus some very, very light weights.
I got the iPad set up and will reset the one I’ve had and pass it onto H. I have way too many photos and whatever, so I haven’t been able to update it. The new one has 4 times the storage! I do mst everything on it, while H is more tied to his phone, so it will be fine for him.
H took off to spend the remainder of the week at our other place, so it’s Olympics and easy dinners for me.
