What are you doing today?

Why do you want to keep your HR so low?

My husband had a heart attack in his 40’s and the PT wanted him to keep his HR low which was impossible for him.

Went to another cardiologist who said it was fine, some people just aren’t wired for low heart rates.

My heart rate is higher just naturally.

I was curious because you’ve mentioned it before

The first period was closer (although the shots on goal were very lopsided). Then hit a 3 minute stretch in the second period and it was all over for the Swedes.

We started the day with a visit to the National Kiwi Hatchery; no photos allowed but we saw a five day old baby kiwi. Next was a visit to Te Puia, Rotorua’s most prominent thermal area. Mud pools and geysers and a Māori arts school.

Went to my volunteer gig at the charity thrift shop this morning. There was a half price sale, and the place was mobbed!

Then out to lunch with two good friends. We met at 1:15, and when the restaurant dimmed the lights for dinner, we figured it was time to leave! We had a great time.

After the usual dog routine, went to a medical appointment with H. We then drove to two separate communities with new townhouses which we quickly ruled out. Stopped at the grocery on the way home, then reviewed our taxes together which I will take to the accountant tomorrow. Dinner followed by a walk.
I am realizing that H doesn’t want to move. I can think of nothing but moving. Even H admits there is nothing to keep us here.

My heart rate sitting is often in high 90s. If I walk, even very slowly, it gets higher. If used to reach 140 while slowly walking but with supplemental Zo2, I can keep it somewhat lower while walking.

I have a low resting HR (high 40s/low 50s) but my max is sky high compared to the 220-age thing. I used to get it regularly over 200 in track workouts and my hour long runs would be in the 190s. So staying under 105 is also pretty impossible for me.

I believe she had surgery, though I forget which kind. I’m sure the surgeon is using the cautious numbers in the beginning. Since I know my body, I probably would go by perceived effort myself… but if someone doesn’t know beforehand, it’s probably better to be safe than sorry for a few weeks

I had surgery 3 weeks ago & they want it kept low to ensure blood vessels don’t burst.
Only a few more days of this and I can get back to exercising without worrying.

Gonna join the fun of this thread. Been sick on/off for 4 weeks and reading about everyone’s day has been entertaining! Had a horrible viral infection (prob from my precious grandson) that went away but left me with horrible sinus issues. Last week, started with low grade fevers, face/forehead pain, post nasal drip, cough etc. Currently, half way through the 7 day antibiotic for sinus infection so fingers crossed!

Today, I hope to run some errands, work on my puzzle, stop by a friend’s to pick up “The Correspondent” (which she is finished reading and passing on to me), do some laundry and most importantly, have a fever-free and minimal coughing day!

I’m starting a three session landscape watercolor class. First class is tonight. I’ll never be a grand master, but I am enjoying these art classes!

Enjoying a cloudy, rainy day in the desert. Windows open, sipping my coffee and inhaling that unique creosote-drenched aroma peculiar to the low Sonoran desert. Will wander over to the grocery store later to pick up a few things for a soup I’m making for dinner and will finish the border on a lapghan I’m crocheting just for me. May see what my mom’s up to. Maybe go to lunch.

I woke up to a Boil Water Advisory. Or rather, I happened to check my email and saw a next door post about not having water on “my street.” That’s in quotes because my road is 4+ miles long. It seems that almost everyone in my City either had low pressure or no water, but I can’t see any evidence of us having issues. Toilet flushed fine in the middle of the night and nothing is brown. Some people are still without water. Official reason is because of “all the rain that washed the sand into the filter.” We got rain Sunday, but nothing like we don’t get all the time - about 1”. And yeah, there’s sand and salt, but there’s that every year and this hasn’t happened before that I can remember (30+ years). Very strange and they say it may be until at least Thursday.

And lots of grumbling from everyone because for a long time (6-8ish hours) there wasn’t any real notification except for a post on their Facebook page.

Edit - I thought I was going crazy, but I found where the initial notice said there was a water main break that they were trying to fix. This is still what’s listed on 1 news station. But since then, they’ve edited the original facebook notice to just say there was a drop in pressure, and the interview with the head of the department is the person who talked about the rain and sand/salt in the system. The real story? Who knows… SMH…

Had my monthly eye appt with the retina specialist. Was supposed to be yesterday but they changed it. Didn’t know it, but today was a ‘blood draw and dye injection’ day. Yes, as bad as it seems. Doc was late, then went to the scanning and then to dye room. Things didn’t go well and I threw up which caused the tech to throw up! I guess I passed out. Me, three techs, and a doctor in a small room when I came to.

Four hours later I got home and am still feeling sick. And since they couldn’t do the actual treatment, I have to go back tomorrow.

I didn’t sleep particularly well. This is three nights straight. Don’t know what’s up that.

But I had such a good workout! Online with my trainer and class, and it was the perfect combo of aerobic and light weights. I was bummed to duck out early because of my lunch plans.

Lunch with bff was so great. In the middle of it, my son’s MIL sent me a listing for a house where she and the kids live. I have to admit that it’s kind of a steal as the seller is someone she knows, and we could do it off MLS, saving money. We weren’t planning to buy up there, unless maybe it was a condo, but we are considering this. Way amped up time frame from what we were expecting. May not pan out at all, but it’s fun to think about.

Went to a lovely garden ( with an art exhibit) this morning and then out to lunch. My friend then dropped me off at the airport as I flew home from Florida today. I didn’t post about it, but I had a lovely week visiting there and seeing my friends. I even got to play some Mahjong!

We had another long long day of driving with some slowdowns because of major storms that had swept through the NZ area a couple of days ago. Coincidentally, husband got a notice from our San Diego power company saying power had been restored back home. So we missed major rains and loss of power. But at least not a major state of emergency like NZ!

We stopped at the country’s #1 attraction Hoka Falls per our tour guide, who surmised it’s because of being right off the major highway.

We saw tons of fallen and uprooted trees, and were able to make it to the tour’s planned luncheon at a farm up in the hills.

Later we entered Peter Jackson country. First we passed by Mount Doom from LOTR, then his birthplace. He currently lives in an upscale suburb of Wellington.

Finished with dinner at the harbor front.

Oh - first thing this morning, my phone alerted me about how much my activity has increased per the built in trackers. Pretty obvious when the trip started, not to mention how lazy I was before!

Yesterday was no fun.

I had my annual opthalmology appointment. I have an autoimmune disease that causes extremely dry eyes, so when they shine any significant light into my eyes, I have real difficulty keeping my eyes open. (I said to my doc once, “I’m not your worst patient, am I?” He said, “No. But you’re not my best, either.) So yesterday I made DH come with me so he could talk to me about stupid stuff while the doc was using his torture devices to look into my eyes. @twoinanddone , I feel for you. Eyes are something else when it comes to physical exams.

Then I came home and took the dog for an abbreviated woods exploration.

Watched two episodes of Call the Midwife because it was all I felt like doing.

I didn’t sleep well the night before, because of anticipation about the eye appointment. So last night I slept like a log! I think I’m all caught up.

I just completed and filed my taxes!!!

And, due to my humongous dental expenses, we are getting a humongous refund from the Feds this year!!!
