Yes @choatiemom, you could make some money selling your handmade baby items, laphagan, and that cute sweater! Really nice handwork!
Today, I ran some errands. I went to Schwab, deposited some checks for S. Then went & bought a nice takeout vegetarian meal for H & me to share. After lunch, H washed some clothes and then I took us to nearby shopping center where I bought T-bone steaks on sale (today only) @$8.99/lb. They were sold in packets of 3, so I kept one in fridge and froze 2. Then we went to bank and tried once more to get them to mail us statements for an account we have with them (for some reason they haven’t been). Then I went to the library to pick up my Book Club book plus a runner up that someone mentioned (both were on hold), and later will be getting Costco to rotate my tires. Also spoke with two friends. Yes, my day is pretty mundane, but I’m happy to get things done.
I had Pilates this morning and will likely add this class to my regular schedule. I am a regular at another class but it’s more social than skill building. I spent a lot of time with Sabadog today and did some sketching. H and I had dinner at a Mediterranean restaurant which was delicious. It was nice to get out and enjoy the evening. We have a weather front moving through and it is windy!
Poured rain this morning so no dog walk before I left for work. Dh is gone for the next ten days so just me and S23 here. Picked up pizza on the way home from work. After dinner I cleaned out my fridge (dh has a habit of keeping leftovers and not eating them). Then I made a meal plan and grocery list. I’m working again tomorrow but will go after work. I never went grocery shopping this week and we hardly have anything. We are predicted to get more snow Sun/Mon - my days off and normal days to grocery shop. Not as much storm hype this time so hopefully the shelves won’t be bare tomorrow night.
After dinner D21 and I had a conversation via text. She flew from Rome to Sardinia this morning to visit/meet my relatives who live in a small town in the mountains. They don’t speak English and she doesn’t speak Italian. One of my cousins took her out this evening but she didn’t realize how late he planned to stay out - it was 1am and she’d be up since 5am (he was waiting for his friend to get off work to drive him home). She was exhausted and regretted going out with him tonight but said otherwise, she is having a great visit! Tomorrow an English speaking cousin is picking her up to go sightseeing.
Off to bed for some reading. Just realized my book club is next week and I haven’t read the book yet!
Thanks, but I don’t sell the things I crochet. I give them away as gifts when the need or occasion arises. (The sweater was a one-off just for me, no pattern, just a lot of leftover yarn and done as a background project.)
Today was underwhelming compared to descriptions and expectations. Apparently the TransAlpine train ride (which we only did part of, getting off at Arthur’s Pass), is less than stunning without snow capped mountains or fuller rivers. And window reflections and fences making photo ops difficult. The only real way to get a decent shot was from the open air viewing car.
At first we were happy with our hotel room and view. That was before we learned we are immediately next to the tour bus parking area for the hotel. Currently at least five big vehicles right outside our little patio. Very unlikely we will want to sit there.
Husband and I agree quite a bit has not been what we expected. Hopefully tomorrow’s glacier helicopter ride will live up to expectations.

My husband had a hobby for many years. It was a way to relieve stress and was very enjoyable
When he retired and he would sometimes sell to get rid of the excess, it felt like a job.
He decided to end the hobby, it had run its course.
Don’t let your hobby feel like a job! Until of course it’s run its course and is no longer fun.
Your things are beautiful!
Today is going to be fun! Going to an Art Guild opening reception for this month’s gallery exhibit. Picking up a friend (who is actually an exhibiting artist). The Guild hs these opening receptions for each new gallery show and they never disappointment. I’m really looking forward to this!
And then I will hunker down for our snow Sunday evening and Monday. I thought about a brief trip to the grocery store, but decided that wasn’t probably a good idea before a forecast possible blizzard!
Got up at 6am and ran 7 miles. Got dumped on mid way through, but it was in the 50s so not too miserable. Now we are at target to kill time. Younger S/FDIL2 made it to the hotel at 1:30am so they are moving slowly this morning. Heading to FDIL1s house in an hour or two to hang out before the shower. Not sure what’s on tap later. Weather app says the rain should stop in an hour. I hope so!
Decided to make Paula Deans Crockpot Mac and Cheese. Good for a cold day. And soft so I can easily eat it!!
I am not going to the store to get milk in advance of the predicted big snow.
Long facetime with D this morning, then managed to snag 4 tickets to Bruce’s DC show at face value (for once!)! Our grandpuppy is going to stay with us this week, so D is on her way down. We are also grilling hamburgers as the weather is pretty good today.
I get to spend the day with my grandpug, as D & SIL are off visiting friends.
Zoomies when she came in the door & there will be more when H gets home.
It’s a beautiful day after rain earlier in the week. Picked up lunch and headed to the local marina and our boat. My husband cleaned the boat and I read and enjoyed the sunshine.
In the photo a few others enjoyed the sunshine too.
Today we are having a MUCH better day than yesterday! This morning we went on a guided hike through a rain forest to view the Franz Josef glacier. This was literally foot paths through the trees, dodging branches and roots. The view was crystal clear. We kept getting told how lucky we were; not sure if that’s just something they do to make us feel special. One of the young women guides grew up two suburbs over from where we lived in Illinois. The others were Kiwis.
This afternoon we postponed our 12:30 helicopter ride since we’re were told they might not be able to fly over the glacier. Back at 2:30, told same thing, chanced it, and had a stunning stellar ride.
And a delicious salad for lunch! Now just hanging out in the hotel room with only a couple of buses in view.

Of course most of my pictures are on the camera, so will start showing up in the Photos thread in a few weeks.
Driving back home today. Younger S/FDIL2 had to leave for the airport before 8am so we left with them. TSA pre check at Atlanta was still open at 8:30 but he said it was the craziest regular line he had seen. Older S/FDIL1 fly back later, so I passed the memo on to them.
Yesterday was really nice. Everything was gorgeous and the people so friendly. I did think of the parents who have issues with their kids, because when the adults were together, it seemed everyone had one kid who didn’t have contact/low contact.
They played a game where they videos older S answering 12 questions about FDIL1 and then we all tried to answer them too, and she gave us the answers. S went 12/12!!! Everyone was super impressed - as was I. I’m not sure I could have answered them about myself lol. Later they did it in reverse - FDIL1 did well too. Got almost all right
I saw this morning DHS is shutting down PreCheck and Global Entry because of the funding issues. ![]()
Sounds like a very fun weekend!
Yep I saw that too, so we sent the kids early. But it was still open in Atlanta as of 8. They said it was supposed to shut down at 6am so I dunno why it was still open. They had enough people show this morning? Older S’ flight is this afternoon. He said he would leave extra time. (Both of mine have pre check and I knew they would have been counting on it time wise)
Currently watching the Men’s hockey game.
Another bad weather day here as we sit and wait to see of snow storm #2 arrives as predicted. Varying predictions for accumulation but not nearly as bad as further north!
Dh usually does our grocery shopping but he is OOT for another week. I work Tues-Sat and had enough food to last until today, when I planned to shop. Had I known last Monday we were getting another storm, I would have gotten my shopping done before dh left. That being said, I couldn’t go until last night after work. MISTAKE! I got to Trader Joe’s around 7pm and they were wiped out! I had a meal plan for this coming week and at least one key ingredient per meal was sold out. No spinach, no shrimp, no shaved beef, no chicken broth, no pasta at all, no coconut milk, etc. I got what I could, then went over to Sam’s where I got shrimp but geez!
My nephew, who goes to college nearby, is here for the weekend. I’m taking him back to campus this afternoon so I will try another store to see if I can pick up a few missing things. It’s raining now but supposed to change over this afternoon.
Need to soend a solid chunk of time today reading as I forgot my book club meets Wednesday and I haven’t read the book!
Precheck is supposed to close at 6 pm. I’m flying out tomorrow!
