What are you doing today?

I combined working some and taking down the tree today - it was a perfect combo spread throughout the morning and I feel accomplished. Last of Christmas is the outside lights which I’ll take down this weekend, maybe a 30 minute job.

I kept a few of my fav Christmas cookies (mostly lemon bars) and put them in the freezer. I’ll pop one out here and there and enjoy :lemon: in January. I packed up the rest and sent them with my S and DIL to take to her family NY Eve get together.

Good week, several closets cleaned out and a couple bags/boxes ready for donation.

Today had a loooong lunch with my friend for her 65th birthday. She’s the best.

Yesterday I continued the NYD tradition of cleaning out the shelving on my closet that basically acts as my expanded medicine chest. Why did I keep Vagisil that expired in 2022 on NYD2025?

Painted my first watercolor of the year…it was a gloomy day, and I wanted to do a long bike ride but the weather app kept telling me it could rain (it did, off and on) and I do not enjoy riding in the rain!

My friend and I went to see our other friend in the hospital. She had open heart surgery on the 29th and is doing great. Still working on her mobility but she was bright eyed and animated. Then we left and had a lovely Italian dinner. Oh, and I got my hair cut in the afternoon.

My last day in SoCal and my sister and I went to the Huntington Gardens and Art Galleries near Pasadena. It was a rainy day, but the gardens were still beautiful.

I love the Huntington Library & Gardens! We spend the morning with H’s md, then x-rays, then bank and takeout lunch. Rest of the day just took it easy. The doc for some reason didn’t know H was taking a med that is contributing to his chronic health issue which this doc is trying to treat H for. As soon as I mentioned it today, it clicked for the doc and he said that could explain a lot. Fortunately H is planning to stop that med at the end of this month and HOPEFULLY things will improve.

Today I am being sworn in as Fire Police and then going on to play backgammon with a group that meets regularly at a French Cafe. I am way too happy that I am not feeding the horses all weekend – normally I love it, but this winter has been TOUGH and I am happy for the break!

You’re lucky! My husband is from Spain and he makes me wait until after January 6 (Three Kings Day) to take down the tree.

That’s the Sky Tower in Auckland, right? I’m glad we’re just having lunch there!

Oh, we’re not really doing the skywalk. I just took a picture of the people walking by as we were having ice cream and a soda

Today I made an appointment to sell my unwanted bits and pieces of gold jewelry that I haven’t worn in decades, plus a couple of non-running gold watches, plus a bunch of old silver quarters and a handful of foreign coins. I don’t want son to have to deal with it all someday and it seems like a good time to sell.

Likely most if not all will be valued only as weight, which is fine. All the family heirloom and personally valued items are staying with me for now.

Also spent some time walking around in the non-custom orthotics recommended by the podiatrist.

Played some indoor pickleball with the local nonprofit organization ($3 at a local church gym). So much fun! We play hard, but at advanced beginner level it’s all very friendly. We laugh a lot.

Then in the car when I was chewing a Necco wafer (which I normally mostly just suck like hard candy), a part of a tooth broke off. Dang. I am glad it happened when home, not on the road (hubby flew out yesterday to help his brother with medical stuff). Glad it does not hurt. I just proactively did a crown on a nearby tooth, due to worsening of long term cracks. Wondering if the nearby crown work vibration contributed. Cancelled my early Monday pickleball so I can call or stop by dentist 8am.

Cleaned A/C filters and the mildew on wooden footstool. HI is so humid mildew grows very quickly. We’ve been eating leftovers and will continue to do so. Arranged baby shower favors in small aluminum containers I have from the Rx containers they are supplied in. Purchased little containers of bubbles & small floral notepads. These will be table decorations & party favors

Got back from SoCal last night so a trip to get some groceries was first on my list this morning. I then spent 6 hours watching the grandkids ( age 3 1/2 and 5 months) while D , SIL and their friends went to an NFL game for SIL’s birthday. Came home, took down and packed up my Christmas tree while dinner was in the oven. I’m tired.

In Denver we keep our outdoor lights up through the Stock Show (Last Sunday in Jan).

It’s okay to put the indoor stuff away.

Still deciding whether to do the Stock Show tradition or take them down after Epiphany/Jan6
