What are you doing today?

We used to keep everything in place until Jan 6. But I get fed up with looking at it all and we are not religious. So everything that can come down, does. But we won’t deal with any outdoor lights until it warms up a bit. I’ve simply unplugged them.

Today I’m going for another snowy walk, using my ice cleats. There’s a lot of ice under the thin snow layers.

Going back to work. Ugh. The main reason it is “ugh” is that I have to deal with some mandatory training and year end goals etc. Not a fan of that stuff!

I openly put a stop to that on my 10th work anniversary - I reminded them that I’m no longer climbing the ladder, and that I created the bulk of my job, and therefore my “goals” were to remain upright and continue logging in 3x a week. They nervously laughed but no longer ask for the year end “goals” (still need to do mandatory training).

Good for you! Doesn’t always fly in bigger organizations.

I always felt like “if I make promises what I’m going to try and do for you, are you going to do the same about what you will do for me?!”

Good for you. In a smaller org, one can do that. When your employer is on a larger side, nope.

Plan A was indoor pickleball 7-9am. But… I chipped tooth on Saturday (actually it was a molar corner broken off), was anxious to have it assessed today. So I cancelled pickleball in favor of getting to dentist office in person at 8am. Wanted to see if they had a way to take a peek at it, get me on the schedule for a crown before I travel later this month. Turned out there was an 8am cancellation due to so much flu etc going around. Made an appt for crown part1 in a few weeks… then once home got a call asking if I could come in . 2pm tomorrow. Gotta say it is nice to have retiree flexibility.

Had a nine-hour “breakfast” with friends. And we could’ve sat there for hours longer.

Going to PT - my ankle is still bothering me.

Dealing with the guy who has contacted an attorney after having an incident with the plow truck (our road association hires the driver). The driver didn’t see him around a blind corner and had to slam on his brakes to avoid hitting the guy and his friends (including a baby in a sled). Nobody was touched, so I don’t know what the claim will be. Uh, in Maine, everyone knows that plow trucks have precedence - stay out of their way! Just like logging trucks have priority on logging roads.

I got my mammogram this morning. It was easy, peasy and I was back on my way home 11 minutes after my appointment time.

Yes this is a PSA.

I did mine last month, also had quick in/out at my 8am appt. Decided next year I should ask husband to come…. wait in the parking lot and then go out for a nice breakfast. Sort of a reward for being diligent on my proactive medical stuff,

Working and taking one of my cats to the vet for her monthly meds. Not looking forward to the “music” during that drive.

Today will be some quick errands and then (because the rain is not coming today!) I’ll take my long bike ride along the beach, almost 30 miles round trip. I cannot wait. I’ve barely gotten 3 good rides in over the last week. I love my long rides.

This morning I watched the BBC for far too long, raising my blood pressure. Decided I had best do something productive today, so headed down to the basement. There are so many boxes down there and almost none of them are mine. So far I have gone through three big boxes and almost all of it can be thrown out! Yippee!

Volunteered at the library. Met a friend for lunch and we talked about our kids and her dad and mom and moving her mom who has dementia into a small well run care home. Wondering what I’m making for dinner.

Trying to decide where we will be going to in March—whether DC & SF of just SF. There’s a sale either Hawaiian expiring in 3 days.
