What are you doing today?

Today I am researching law schools and various programs. Not for me - been there, done that.

Running ragged preparing a rather impromptu party for the eight people in the baseball group DH invited over to our house tonight. I love that man but sometimes…

How many weeks till you head east?? :deciduous_tree:

Sitting around watching it snow. It’s nice because I don’t have to shovel it. Really, no one will have to because it was 70 degrees yesterday so not much sticking to sidewalks or drives, and it will be 55 tomorrow and near 70 on Sunday, so all self clearing with solar power.

Had coffee with a friend I hadn’t seen in awhile, then had a pedi. Ended up talking to the woman in the next chair, turns out her DIL owns the nail salon. We mostly talked about Mahjong though!

Ran a few loads of laundry, changed the sheets on my bed and cleaned upstairs. I’m leaving for a yoga retreat in Mexico on Sunday and I like to come back to a clean house. First floor cleaning and final packing are tomorrow.

And…S announced that he is starting a travel business! ( I knew this for awhile). I hope this works out for him.

Well, just came back from. x-ray for H and breakfast in med center cafeteria. We went to back home and are waiting to see what GI wants to do have H do. Hopefully we can have telehealth visit and he can make effective recommendations.

We have a houseguest arriving early evening. We are supposed to pick up or advise to catch uber/lyft.

At some point we’d like to drop off the tax docs we have for our CPA—not urgent & can even be done after house guest leaves Tuesday.

I took a walk.

I got my mom’s death certificates so I called a bunch of places. People were very nice and helpful. Discover was great, closed mom’s account and is sending a check for the cash back to me for the estate.

Then I tried to figure out why my health insurance was $480 more in February than in January. Apparently I had 2 applications, so marketplace canceled the cheaper one, kept the more expensive one. Should I blame BCBS, via benefits or marketplace? I guess they would like to blame me?

Apologized to the marketplace CSR, told her my mom died and I had to inform people of that today.

I did not get ahold of my mom’s friend of 60 years to tell her about the death. That one I’m dreading :worried:

We did go for Chinese food for lunch, it was great!

I love Fridays! I love my work days too but Friday off feels like a nice earned freedom.

Exercised after getting up (I always do it within minutes of getting up). My neighbor texted me that she had shooed a turkey into our back yard! Went out and gobbled at him and took some photos. Walked the dog. Ran some errands to prep for a hopeful road trip tomorrow to visit my daughters 2ish hours away - picked up bagels, filled up with gas (price is SO up ), stopped in Costco for some fruit and veggies. Came home and ordered a new mattress for our guest room from Costco!
Made some homemade giardiniara (actually started it last night) and woo boy, let me tell you, if you like cottage cheese it may seem like a weird combo but a scoop on top of the cottage cheese - delicious!

Repotted a plant and also got my little inside seed starter planters filled - I’ll plant some seed just for fun later this weekend.

Baked some peanut butter brownies to take tomorrow. Will make some dinner soon - turning leftover chicken into fried rice w/chicken and veggies.

A little tv later and hopefully finish my current book. Maybe another walk before dark because it’s mild!

Well, we’re going to go ahead and replace the hot-water heater so I talked to the plumber and got him down more than $400 so that’s a success. The rest of the day has been spent mostly watching the SEC women’s bball tourney. Two games down, two to go.

Oh, I also got dh to do a little Swedish death cleaning. Baby steps.

Just finished inputting the 2025 taxes into my software and at least we stayed under the 24% bracket! Combination of deferring some of the first year 2024 RMD along with 2025, and lots of capital gain distributions.

I had a long work day today - didn’t get home until 7:15. Dh went down to the beach again this afternoon to finish cleaning up from the storm a week and a half ago. He will be there all weekend. I decided on just doing a “girl dinner” of cheese and crackers, some nuts, olives and a glass of Rose from a bottle we tasted with a sales rep at work today.

Took my dog for a quick walk then watched the news. Mostly depressing except for the last segment “On the Road” with Steve Hartman. An amazing, uplifting story about a young boy dropped off at the hospital, alone, by social services to have 7 hr heart surgery. The doctor who operated on him ended up adopting him and his sister while her family members and a friend adopted the rest of his siblings.

Going to finish the evening reading my book.

Well I fainted this morning the first time in my life.

Husband helped me get out of bed, but it was probably too soon. I should have just sat up for awhile. As I was going down the stairs on my behind, I started feeling nauseous, then faint. I at least had made it down to the bottom. The last thing I remember was my head between my legs groaning then my husband calling my name. He said I was out for about 2 minutes and my eyes were open. He could tell I was breathing. It really scared him. I asked if he thought I was dead and he says the thought flitted through his mind for a second but I was breathing. It’s taken me 4 hours to feel ok.

I have low blood pressure naturally and take Spironolactone for my hair loss 10 years ago. I’ve been afraid to go off it. It makes my BP even lower. So, while I’m recovering, I’m going off of it.

Ok…I picked up one generic RX today. The retail cost for 75 days is 30 cents, and my insurance paid 25 cents.

I went to a different pharmacy to check to make sure they had another RX which I’ll pick up Wednesday. Also a generic. I asked the cost for my 90 day supply. $150. My insurance is paying $25. It’s the preferred pharmacy for my RX plan.

I know I have a Medicare deductible to meet for RX coverage…but this math makes NO sense to me!

The usual coffee and puzzles.
Dusting, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, folding clothes — all the fun stuff. Yay. H does a lot around the house, but he is not a terribly proficient vacuumer/sweeper/duster, so it was definitely time.

I threw out all of the ugly pink bras from my various surgeries, plus all of the accouterments that go with from the past 4 years. Putting away the extra pillows and so forth that are no longer needed.

Descaled the Nespresso and made more coffee. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
