What are you doing today?

My 20-year-old breakfast group of six only had two of us there today. Several of us are ailing with something or another.

Went to a celebration of life for a tennis partner of DH’s. I knew the guy, but not well. It’s a good celebration of life when you leave wishing you had known the person better!

I was going to go to the gym but the antibiotics I’ve been on for nine days now are kicking my butt, so I crawled into bed for a while and am now just browsing on here.

I plan to watch the latest Downton Abby movie on Netflix tonight.

Toured the grand ole opry, had lunch at a local bar near Vandy, drove by the parthenon replica (why is that here??) and will be attending DH’s reunion event tonight.

That sounds scary. Might be good to get checked out? I have low bp and have fainted a few times in my life - I am under the impression that I was out of it only briefly. Ah, I think twice smelling salts (or the alchohol swab substitute) were used to rouse me.

My father who has low bp recently had an “unresponsive” situation (more serious that yours) which they think related to an undiagnosed UTI. The nurse to me that as people, including herself, age…. UTI can come without the bladder urgency symptoms.

Congratulations for moving on from those ugly pink bras! :tada: Seems like a big step for you!

A fun day today! Not so fun to start. H dumped and scrubbed all 3 cat boxes while I scrubbed around them, washed laundry, a little vacuuming.

But after lunch we drove the 2:30 to the blue ridge tunnel. It’s really cool. Then another 30 minutes to Buc-ee’s! H had never been. He loved it. I knew he would. It’s right up his alley. I went in 2019 in Texas with older S when we drove back together from his internship.

Now we are headed to a German restaurant for dinner and then the long drive back home.

A few pictures of today, though not the one I got with the mascot. It wasn’t the best picture, but there was no line. Just walked up and asked for one.

We had a long video call with son where we forced him to see all our little souvenirs and listen to our stories about the vacation. He was very patient and I’m sure the one disconnection was completely accidental.

Oh, I know! Pick me!

Because Nashville has so many institutions of higher ed it was known as the Athens of the South. They built this replica for the state’s centennial in 1897. Actually they had built a replica but tore it down, and this permanent one took its place something like 20 or 30 years later.

Also as a venue. A friend’s daughter was married there several years back. The ceremony was outdoors, and the reception inside the Parthenon.

I’m applying for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (I already got in to the Daughters of the Republic of Texas). I think DAR is a long shot, because I can’t see how to “prove” Alexander Thomson, Sr was Alexander Thomson, Jr’s father, or that he was in a Pennsylvania regiment. It was a pretty common name.

Anyway, the Registrar invited me to a DAR meeting at the Maine Military Museum today. I’m really glad I went. Such nice women! Really friendly. It was the annual meeting when they hand out “Good Citizen” awards to one student per high school in the area. As you would expect, they were impressive young people.

The Registrar has a lot of experience researching genealogy and said she will dig a lot for me. Even if the link can’t be proven, I imagine she will find out some cool stuff about my family. It helps that I have all the documentation for DRT, all the way back to AT, Jr.

Today is my birthday and my Mama’s. Heading out to meet family at a place about 45 minutes from here for brunch. It’s going to be an 80 degree day here in Southern California so I’m wearing a sundress and sandals.

Just got off FaceTime with D1, SIL and GD in CT so I could open my present from GD. Of course it’s going to be my favorite present since it’s the first “artwork” from 5 month old GD.

^^^ Happy Bday @showmom858 ! :birthday_cake:

Drove down 2.5 hours yesterday morning to visit with both daughters who happen to live in the same town. Some great food (a Mexican/Cuban place for brunch) and some shopping and some down time chit chatting. Dinner out with younger daughter, her boyfriend and her roommate - they were matched up freshman year at college and have been living together 11 years!
This morning took a wake up walk by myself in older daughter’s new neighborhood, then walked with her to get coffee. Drove home and unpacked and took pup for a nice 2 mile walk to shake off the driving sillies. Need to do some bathroom reno homework and going to make my comfort favorite, spaghetti and meat sauce or balls for an easy dinner.

Most of all, going to enjoy the extra hour of SUNLIGHT this evening!!! :sun:

My hard drive at work died Friday so I have to go in today to reinstall the accounting program on the new box. Fingers crossed. I have to run payroll tomorrow so hoping for an uneventful process.

Non-stop entertaining since DH invited the eight baseball fans to that impromptu party Friday. Five of these people are out-of-town childhood friends of one of DH’s good buddies who lives down the street. One of the couples has been staying in our casita and the other couple with the buddy, but the lone guy had booked a hotel – until DH offered him our guest room. They don’t leave until Tuesday (after Monday’s Mariners game), so it’s been one long party between our place and the neighbor’s. At least tonight we’re back at the neighbor’s, and I only have to bring the cole slaw to Rib Fest 2026. Oh, and did I mention they’re all cracking each other up like the engineering nerds they were back on campus? Good times.

Om…Om…Om… :woman_in_lotus_position:

Maybe you should have reserved the casita for yourself and locked the door….

Had a lovely weekend. Yesterday drove don and watched DS play his sport (an adult league) which hasn’t happened for years! Was fun to see until he fell and got hurt (not terribly but still) and then took him and his GF out for a very nice dinner. Today, met up with my oldest friend and her two daughters for a lovely lunch. Trying to get some work done tonight! Have a good week all!
