Happy B’day!

I am starting to feel like my mother, for whom springing forward was a major life event. I woke up soooo sleepy.

Dh did his usual Sunday pancakes, then I had a live workout, which woke me up. Then watched sports, including the UT women win the SEC bball championship by beating Dawn Staley and South Carolina. Then watched the Spurs win while listening to ds2 perform in a show on a livestream. A bunch of people were playing, and I listened to the second half of the show. The final two songs were so soothing. Music is such a balm for the soul.

Last night, worked with S to book our plane tickets so H&I can go to SF for our MD appts and see our d for her MD appt and my BIL. Was able to make car reservations and purchased an upgraded seat from our home to our destination and today called and finalized our travel arrangements.

Volunteer gig, then mah Jong, then a town committee meeting in the evening. Mondays are usually like this, but that’s fine!

Yesterday I went to the gym for a very slow modified workout. I’m still taking antibiotics for my dental issues and they’re doing a number on my tummy, so I’m taking it easy. Changed the sheets, did a lot of laundry, took the dog to the woods on this beautiful, warm (67) day. There were so many people there!! I watched Part I of the Dinosaur documentary that dropped on Netflix yesterday and was very, very unimpressed. I will not be watching the rest of it.

I started reading Gisele Pelicot’s book – she’s the French woman whose husband had her raped after he drugged her. The book is well done, and her story is so bizarre. I greatly enjoy reading about strong women, and she turned out to be very strong in this whole thing. She kinda had to be.

Today I’m having lunch with an old friend and a new friend while still taking it easy. And then I’ll fold laundry while watching some HGTV junk on TV. I am staying far away from the news these days.

First time I have seen bright sunshine in weeks, and I am not exaggerating! Definitely feels energizing this morning.

Today is trash day so I’m waiting for the garbage trucks to finish making their rounds and I will take my dog for a very long walk, something that hasn’t happened in weeks due to the weather. Hoping to finish my audiobook on my walk. Already got some strength training in.

Rest of the day is errands/household chores. Grocery store, post office and a stop to return an online clothing order.

If I can motivate myself, I will clean up the massive amt of gumballs on the lawn.

Dh returns from the beach after dinner so making a shrimp and orzo dish for son and me (dh can’t eat shrimp so I make it when he’s not here).

Last day of the baseball rager. It’s Mariners vs. Diamondbacks today, so I don’t think it matters much who wins or loses as the group includes fans of both. We’ll be back at the neighbor’s again tonight (didn’t get home until almost 11 last night) for enchiladas and more engineer hilarity. I’m bringing the guac, pico, and jalapeño poppers.

Life goes back to normal tomorrow.

Quiet weekend here. Tried to give D a pep talk yesterday and it’s hard to find the bright side in a lot right now. I’m usually pretty good at the cheerleading stuff but I’m not finding a lot to cheer about right now. She invested so much time and effort in building a path to a successful career and to see it all being destroyed is really tough to stomach.
Today I walked the girls and then went to the gym. Now I’m headed out to do some gardening. I don’t often buy “toys” for the dogs but for the past few days they’ve enjoyed playing with a giant pickle that honks, squeaks and crinkles and a pair of donuts that squeaks. There are bits of floof all over the house. IYKYK.
@VeryHappy, thanks for the book report. It is on my list.

Today was my first workout since the heart episode last week. I’d be lying if I said everything was great mentally. My anxiety can shoot up sky high at any moment. I made an appointment with the cardiologist for the 23rd. I don’t think the monitor results will be done by then. I mail it back on the 17th, but I know the sooner I can see to someone, the better. 8am at a place 1:30 away. Good thing I’m used to getting up at oh dark 30, especially on Mondays.

So this morning, it was the usual 3:15. I like going in with H. I did shorten my usual workout. Lately it’s been 45 min run - decently peppy and a decently hard 45 min stairmonster. I cut it to 40 min decently peppy run and a much easier than usual 30 min stairmonster. Stopped here and there to take my HR. It was in the 150s, but strong, and after each cardio stint - after 3-5 min it would be down to 90-100. After that I did some abs and mobility work and by the time I hit the locker room it was in the 60s. But I was very very very nervous the whole time. Hopefully my anxiety will calm down as the days go by. I used the extra time afterwards to play piano.

Now I’m at work and hopefully it will be a boring, as usual day.

Oh, younger S told me it’s NATIONAL NAPPING DAY! Now this is MY kind of holiday!!!

So you were wearing the monitor during your workout? That would be great data to have.

Yes it stays on 24-7 for 14 days. The trick is keeping it stuck. They gave me some clear tape bandaid like stuff to keep it there and it stayed on good until the workout today. One side started peeling off in the shower. I just slapped a huge bandaid on top of it for now since I didn’t have time to screw with it before work.

Painting my kitchen cabinets! Ditto for last Thursday, Friday and Saturday and I estimate about 2 more days. I took yesterday off for church, lunch with H, grocery shopping and nice phone calls with two of my sons. The cabinets won’t look perfect but I’m pretty pleased so far. They really needed something and I haven’t wanted to tackle it because I knew once I started I’d have to keep going. But a perfect opportunity of good painting weather, no other big plans for a couple of weeks, old flooring had to be removed and new flooring isn’t installed yet, and a positive attitude toward the work and disruption pushed me forward. Old ugly brown stain to forest green.

Got up early and put some veggies in the over for lunch, then worked out and about to shower and run to the bank to take out cash for the plumbing job happening tomorrow. The water heater still has a slow leak, and it’s more than 30 yers old so we are going to replace it.

Am I the only one who does this? After I get a quote I always offer to pay cash to see whether they’ll give us a discount. In this instance, he gave us several hundred dollars off. Yea!

Slept in again, yay, partly due to DST and partly because apparently the stress that woke me every night pre-trip is gone, whew. I am still dreaming somewhat of travel related scenes but I’ve dreamed of travel and large buildings for decades. Not sure what it means but it’s been pretty constant. I’ve seen some very interesting architecture in my dreams.

Talked to the synagogue president who wants to try an online spreadsheet for congregants to offer services to each other, professional and other. He would like someone to set up and run the spreadsheet and I like spreadsheets so happy to do so.

I have a stack of ironing - clothes from trip - not everything really needs to be pressed but I haven’t decided which to do yet. For further procrastination, I think I’ll take some pictures of wall art for that thread which I couldn’t participate in until we got home.

Drove to a plant shop half an hour away to get cal-mag and they only had large bottles for $$$. Didn’t get it. Did get a scindapsus treubii moonlight – will combine it with one I already have. Will save me from propagating the older one and make the pot fuller. It was 75 degrees here today, so took some of my propagations that have been in water since last fall and potted them. At some point I will take a road trip to distribute to friends and family. I sure don’t have room for them.

Dealt with synagogue sale business. Please let this be over soon! Now on potential buyer #4. Spent last night editing and proofing draft contracts and sending to the team.

Walked the dog after dinner – she is delighted that the weather has improved – we had snow the middle of last week, and it’s been in the 70s since Sunday.

Trying to figure out how we can see S2 and DIL this summer,. They will not come to the US. H doesn’t want to go to Ukraine. We are all worried about how the dog will be feeling then (she was recently dx’d with lymphoma and is in treatment) and how that shapes our plans.

Our wonderful Australian Shepherd Mollie had lymphoma and died very quickly. Best of luck with your pup – I hope there’s a good treatment for her.

Had a nice meal plan set for this week and grocery shopped yesterday.

Dh was supposed to get back from the beach after dinner last night but called to say S23 had a flat tire when he went to leave work. Got the spare out and on, but it was flat also! Dh went to HD to get a patch kit, but the bottom line was by the time all was said and done, dh opted to stay another night. However, he had to be an hour north of Baltimore for a 9am meeting. And, he tells me, he has another meeting there tomorrow so he opted to just stay the night up there tonight. So he left at 4:30 this morning, got home at 6:30, took a quick shower, repacked and then was out the door for another 90 min drive. So much for my dinner plans this week!

With his early arrival waking me up, I got up early, did some strength training, took our dog for a brief walk, now drinking coffee and then heading to work.

With it being a beautiful day, I will take advantage on the later sunset and take my dog on a longer walk tonight after work. Think I will just do a Greek salad for dinner instead of the salmon I had planned for us!
