What are you doing today?

For some reason I was up at 4 and didn’t go back to sleep until 8:20. That was short-lived as the plumber showed up at 9 to replace the water heater. Dh was here so handled that, but once the drilling started at 9:20 that was that for sleeping.

I’ll work out at 11 and then to lunch with my in-town bff. Have a phone call scheduled late this afternoon with my California bff, the one having some medical issues. She’s feeling vulnerable, I think.

Pretty decent day here. A little less antsy during my workout. Today was just an hour-ish easy run outside. Stopped a couple of times to check my heart. Seemed fine in the 130s. By the time I put my stuff in the locker to lift it was in the low 70s. Lifting was fine.

Work is work. Nothing special. I had my preliminary MOG dress fitting today. She just has to finish up the embroidery. I feel much better about it. I also got a new rehearsal dinner dress. I was just so upset over the one I got - I couldn’t figure out how to get it on right! No zipper. Just a ribbon and a million loops. I was going to get the seamstress to do something, but I just went in a whole different direction. This one is very springy - not my usual style, but I really like it. It’s soooooo comfy. Maybe not as formal as it might need to be, but I don’t care. Did I mention it’s soooooo comfy?

And now I just took a tour of new office space for another department. It’s beautiful. After work, just a walk around the hood, dinner and get gas in one of the vehicles.

Slept late again, huzzah - so nice to feel rested. Of course now the day is half over and i’m just finishing my morning coffee!

Time to start regular neck exercises again for my arthritis. I had little pain during the trip likely because (1) always turning head to look out windows on bus (2) using neck pillow on bus for support and (3) carrying backpack which strengthened back muscles which helps neck.

Then to double check tax software entries before printing forms. Put in reminders to send in payment. Figure out safe harbor amount for 2026 after our aberrant income year.

Get a start on the congregant business directory spreadsheet for synagogue. And start draft of description for newsletter.

Try to stay off iPad!

It’s gorgeous here today…sunny and in the 70’s. Went to the local shop for ice cream! Have water color class tonight.

@thumper1- enjoy the spring weather. D1 sent me a picture of GD and her in CT in their short sleeves today! Her husky is sad the snow in their yard has been melting.

Today I decided I “needed” to go to Costco.

Filled up the gas tank there, $3.39 instead of $3.69

Stopped at home goods, I want to update my bedding. I need to donate my old duvets, blankets and comforters.

Went to Costco. Bought wine, meat, bread, new sheets and of course toilet paper and garbage bags.

Ate at Panera, why is it so expensive? 2 of us eat lunch for what my pick 2 was.

Came home, argued with blue cross again about my $240 per month increase. So annoyed! I kept all my paperwork, I doubt I will win but I tried.

Dinner will be Costco noodles and chicken. One of their prepared options.

Will watch the last episode of jack Ryan that we have to finish up.

Panera is :100: in my opinion charging more than they should. I’m not knocking their food but it’s standard soup/salad/sandwich fare but they charge too much for it!

I will put a vote in for the Panera Mac and cheese in the BIG containers (2 1-quart containers?) At Costco. That stuff is crack.

I’m not a Panera fan. Overpriced. But I do appreciate their inititiative to donate day-end pastries to nonprofits. I used that for many a parent-teacher meeting/meal.

Yesterday, H went for a scope and got good news that all is clear & good! This morning took houseguest to airport and H had an abdominal ultrasound and we had nice breakfast. Hoping for low key rest of the day.

My brother, who never questions the prices at drive thru and just pays, will no longer go to Panera because it is so expensive. He also figured out that Starbucks went a bridge too far with a price hike last years (mostly based on a rise in minimum wage and in city sales tax at the same time). He often gets 2 meals and eats one the next day, so is used to it being $25, but when it went to over $30 he said enough.

It was another beautiful day here. Dog and I went for a long walk, finally, in the woods we always go to. We hadn’t been able to go for a while because it was so snowy and icy and because I was feeling crappy because of my dental issues. It was such a relief to do the whole walk!!

Panera is expensive. But… it makes a good place to meet a friend for lunch. Lots of seating, private-ish areas. We can stay a long time to catch up. They really don’t have anything inexpensive, so I just go for something bigger and take home leftovers.

I went to my watercolor class. The focus was on clouds…not grass and trees!

Never got to the double check of taxes, oh well, too bad, so sad. Husband did bring home lunch from local malt shop and we enjoyed it on the deck in the sunshine. I did a first attempt at the spreadsheet assignment. Was sent an Office spreadsheet but I don’t have Office so recreated one as a Google sheet.

Also decided to change ophtamalogy offices since my doctor passed away and the front office keeps delaying appointment with another one I wanted to try. So set up a first appointment at the place husband goes, which I actually found ten years ago. Old office sent me a records release form on, of course, an Office Word doc. I was able to print it, fill it out, and scan as PDF and return.

Why does everyone assume I have MS Office? I do have free LibreOffice for my own use, and Google docs/sheets for shared use. At no cost.

Funny I have one friend who always wants to meet at Panera and we also always linger there. But we go in the morning so it’s coffee and a bagel or bakery treat which doesn’t break the bank!

Getting ready for a 2 hour training on our new evaluation system. Woo hoo! I had a good run this morning. I had not run the hill behind the gym in a few weeks. Figured it was close to the gym if something went wrong. It went very well! Faster than usual. I stopped on the lap few reps to let the HR relax because I was getting tired and didn’t want to push it too hard, but I was very pleased with the speed. Then and, legs and some mobility work.

I have to contact the HR monitor company because I may have broken it. In the shower this gel on the electrode fell out and it’s not going back. It’s been 1 week today. Supposed to wear it for 14 days.

And I got a good chuckle. I work with mostly blue collar people. So we are in their break area for the training. The ladies restroom has a big red sign FEMALES ONLY and then underneath another that reads NO INMATES! Lol

Got up early today to walk my dog before work. It’s a beautiful, sunny morning but we are expecting some severe storms this afternoon/evening so got that out of the way.

Texted with D21 who is currently in Berlin. Ah the life of a study abroad college student.

I made caesar salad dressing last night as well as a marinade for chicken. I added the chicken to the marinade this morning to make it easy for dh tonight when he gets home from his business trip. Just need to wash the lettuce and grill the chicken.

Today should be a quiet-ish day at work.

Today is my oldest/first friend ever’s birthday. Debating whether to call her (long story, relating to her alcoholism recovery). I did send her a card. Will ponder it today and get in touch with mutual friend to see if she is going to call her.

Now off to work!

I am working from home today which means my black cat will be sitting on my lap for half of the day!

H has to go into the office since he has out of town coworkers visiting. This also means he will be having dinner out with coworkers. D2 invited me to join her and her friends for trivia tonight and she even offered to drive me. I think it is because they need some knowledge from someone old!

We have freezing rain in my area so I’m not doing anything today.

I might walk on the treadmill but that’s it.

I guess Panera heard I said they were expensive, today they sent me an email for $7 off. I probably won’t use it. I thought the food was meh for the price. It’s not that close to our house.

We went to Bob Evan’s a few weeks ago. Got basically the same thing I got at Panera. Baked potato soup and a salad. I thought it tasted better. Even with a tip, it was cheaper.
