Gym, breakfast with a friend, working, and leading a NAMI Maine Board meeting via Zoom. Our son we’re reconnecting with is turning 31. He texted that he and his wife will call us later.

I am increasingly becoming aware of how “little” social life I have after reading how many of you have regular lunches (or other meals out) with friends/family. Life of a true introvert I guess!!!

Woke up in the afterglow of a UT March Madness win. Talked to the designer/stager with whom we are meeting next week. About to work out and eventually will meet dh for an early dinner after his dental cleaning appt. Considering buying tix to the women’s March Madness games we are hosting this weekend. I’d be going alone Friday, but dh could go with me Sunday.

Oh, and we have to squeeze in the new Shrinking episode at some point today. Dh is painting the garage so it may not happen until late.

ETA: I just got a solo ticket for Friday and tix for both of us Sunday even though we don’t even know what time that game is! March is Madness for the fans, too!

I know, right? Same here; I can spend days without seeing anyone other than husband. Being with 35 other people every day for two weeks on our guided tour was the most social I’d been in decades, I think!

This is a social week for me. Yesterday we did the happy hour with our Meetup group; I know many people from the group but mainly only see them at Meetup events. Today we’re meeting old neighbors from Illinois who come out to San Diego for a month every year. We didn’t even know this until we’d been here five years and were out at a happy hour by ourselves when husband said, I know that voice. Turned around and there they were behind us in the restaurant lounge. I wouldn’t have recognized the voice! We stayed and had dinner with them and now get together for lunch once a year. So today we’re popping down to Coronado to meet them, yay!

And tonight my new routine, helping husband with eye drops for his newly diagnosed glaucoma. Our ophthalmologist has been busy finding things this month! First my mitey eyelashes, now this.

Wednesday is coffee/crocheting with my stitching gals up at the club (lather, rinse, repeat). Nothing else on the agenda today.

Oh, I do plan to shower and make lunch and dinner.

I have discovered recently that I am an otrovert.

It’s my last night in Iceland. Heading home tomorrow. That’s has been an amazing trip.

It’s like Europe, but it is not.

The wind is phenomenal. We saw the northern lights twice. We encountered a snowstorm, closed roads, refugees from the storm, barren lands in the north, whales, and more.

Our tour guide was fantastic and our tour mates were …. Memorable!

The food has been top-notch with just a couple of exceptions. But it is verrry expensive at every turn!

Question - we haven’t sold a house in 28 years and I can’t remember- do real estate agents not advise on staging a house? The house around the corner from us, very similar to ours, just went on the market and the furniture they’re using, I assume left from the owners (who lived there for 50 years) is the worst looking 1980s junk I’ve ever seen. I have little talent in that area, but even I can see how it distracts rather than adds. We hope to put ours on the market in a year or two and I’m trying to work towards something sellable.

It depends on your housing market. If you are in a very hot market, it may not be necessary to stage. None of the houses we looked at when we were buying our current house were professionally staged. At most there was decluttering and taking down personal photos, but even that, not always.

I agree that it depends on the market. If you have a house for sale in my area and it is in the $1 to $1.5 million range most people don’t bother to stage as these homes are sold very quickly.

Eye doctor. Why are you here? Because I can’t order new contacts until I get a new (the same!) prescription. My eyes haven’t changed in over 10 years.

Sometimes I think that if I didn’t see or speak to my family or doctors I wouldn’t see anyone. The life of a woman who’s shy/introverted/on the spectrum

I only see people because I work and go to the gym. And I don’t talk to anyone at the gym except H, who’s working now when I’m there. My favorite meals are my workday lunches where it’s just me and my peanut butter bagel sitting in my recliner by myself. Do not mess with these lunches.

But of course this week my zen is messed up because of the painter. He is almost done! It looks great and I’m happy he’s here, but I want my house back with nobody else in it except H and our cats. I’d take the kids back in a heartbeat, but they’re all grown up.

Uneventful day here. Workout, work, dinner, Walmart Wednesday.

Only interesting item to note is that I brought our shoebox full of old stuff that was on our old refrigerator (1996-2016) to work. I have more space for magnets since the sides now show. In there was a drawing from younger S when he was roughly 8-9 years old. It’s a floor plan of a castle and a VERY detailed battle plan. Each regular soldier is a dot, higher ups had different symbols - with a key! And it was all labeled how they would attack and defend. It cracked me up. This was classic S. It’s no wonder he went into Intelligence Analysis, lol…

Walk the dogs. Reformer class. Home. Back to the gym for more Pilates. Two of the instructors were doing a workout as no one had signed up for the class and they invited me to join them for free. Yay. Then H and I met with a financial planner where he acted like a jerk. We came home, he went upstairs to sulk, I fed and walked the dogs, Sabadog then had an accident so I ran to Walmart for more carpet cleaner. I have to say I’m tired and more than a bit discouraged.

We found this one prior to our last move. From the date, our son was six when he drew it:

Perhaps we should have seen the Army in his future? :woman_facepalming:

(Sorry, back on topic…)

I was up early catching up on emails, financial stuff, etc. Had to do a grocery run and library drop off/ pick up. I did find time to go to yoga. One of my favorite yoga teachers leads the Wednesday morning class and another favorite was in the class so we got to chat.

My big win today was helping S. He worked for two different businesses in 2025 and had yet to receive a W2 from one of them. He called them a month ago and …nothing. He was not on good terms when he left this job. I told him I would handle it.
So I called the business and explained that I was not calling as his parent, but as his CPA ( not a lie, I am a CPA). Within 2 minutes after the call was over , he had a copy emailed to him and he finished his tax return this afternoon.

I”m headed to the City again today – second time this week!, which is unusual – to have lunch with my cousin. We do this maybe three times a year. She’s almost seven years old than I am but is a breath of fresh air.

I am addressing and mailing invites for a baby shower – my only role — and smh head over the whole thing. But so far, successfully keeping my mouth shut as S/DiL clearly want to do everything themselves. I still think 3 hrs is too long.

After that, some calling to straighten out the latest hospital billing fiasco. For fun I will row and watch an awful movie DH would never tolerate.

First up…eye doctor. Then the desk at the local artisans guild gallery.

Then…packing light. This shouldn’t be hard because it’s supposed to be 100 or higher every day we are at our destination…for ten days. I’ll have my layers to wear on the airplane because they try to freeze you to death on most planes!

I’m working in the office today and getting ready for our new accounting employee that starts next week. Fingers crossed he works out and by next year I can be retired!

I talked to D1 this morning because SIL woke up yesterday with swelling under his eye and today it was worse. He went to the doctor and they believe it is shingles! They are of course worried about GD who is 5 months old. SIL will need to be very careful around her. He was supposed to fly from CT to Scottsdale today for a bachelor party this weekend. Looks like he will be staying home. D2 is flying to CT tomorrow as she was coming to hang out with D1 and GD while SIL was away. The crazy thing that D1 told me is that 2 of SIL’s friends have had shingles! These guys are all only 32 so you wouldn’t think they would get shingles.
