What are you doing today?

I always need an extra layer for AC… and a warmer one for plane. I am told that if it gets really cold to alert a flight attendant - the pilots sometime get busy and forget to monitor/adjust cabin temp

Opposite for me. I’m completely comfortable on cold planes and cold generally, probably from working in freezing data centers most of my career. The produce section at Costco is just about right for me.

Just cleaning today.

:basketball: :basketball: :basketball: Watching basketball all day! :basketball: :basketball: :basketball:

Late yesterday, we bought tix to the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight. That is something at one point in my life I never would have done. One, I didn’t want to jinx the team. And two, the money would be “wasted” if my team didn’t make it. Well, life is short, and I’m taking that risk!

For some reason, my trainer is working us out 30 minutes early. Tuesday it was an hour early, which I didn’t realize so was 18 mins late. Not sure what is up!

Calming down after my aggravating last hour+. Started off with a rushed workout, because I had to go back to another 2 hour training session - this time the yearly drug/alcohol/reasonable suspicion stuff. The room was freezing today. I’m glad I at least brought my lightweight jacket, because I was freezing WITH it on.

Leave training… pull out of my parking place and I hear “knock, knock, knock.” Crap. That’s one big piece of gravel. I pull around the building and try to see if I can find it. Nope. Start back up - low pressure warning. Crap. I am just about to our employer garage, so I have them just try to see if they can find it. Oh yeah - a big ass bolt. They can’t do anything really for me ethically, but they did pump up my tire, so I could try to make it to the shop 2.5 miles down the road. I made it 1.75 miles before the bolt fell out and it immediately went flat. Crapola. Called AAA and they towed it the last 0.75 mile. H works 1/2 mile past the shop, so I walked there and got his car. I’ll pick him up after he’s done during my lunch break and we will go home. Glad we have a 3rd vehicle. We have the WORST LUCK with freaking tires. I’m sick of this.

Tonight we are supposed to go to the big city an hour away - in H’s car! - so he can buy a dress shirt for the rehearsal dinner. Hopefully that will go OK.

Because you need to know this : It has taken fully 2.25 hrs to get all the “this EOB is wrong” stuff sorted out. How elderly people or disadvantaged people get any healthcare at all is a complete miracle.

My daughter-in-law had shingles in February. We were all surprised as most consider it an older person condition.
We are visiting our daughter. Yesterday we drove our 3 year old granddaughter back to her. We had her for three nights sans parents. We had a great time and she did great on the 8 hour car drive. I didn’t even need to pull out the IPad or any of the activities I had brought. She played with a few stuffed animals and “read” herself the new books we had bought together.

Boo on the shingles. But I have heard many, many stories of young people ( 30’s and younger) having shingles lately. Not sure what’s up. D had a mild case last year when she was pregnant.

D had shingles while in middle school, so as a young teen. She had scars and they’ve finally faded nearly 20 years later. H had shingles years after D. I’ve had shingles twice but each time we got it diagnosed and I started antiviral immediately so never had a full-blown case. My most recent case was 12/31 —happy new year to me!

I’ve had zostervax & 2 Shingrix shots but the antiviral I started recently has as a possible side effect that you CAN get shingles.

Among other things, finding way too much media about the Hail Mary movie plot in my Facebook feeds. I mean, I like Ryan Gosling and I liked the book (much more the first time than the second), but the publicity is giving everything away. I thought much of the appeal of the book was the surprises.

I do want to see the movie but am still not willing to go into a theater because I am sure the other patrons will annoy me too much. I’m very used to watching stuff on my own Fire TV, with doors closed and lights off. So I am currently at zero tolerance for distractions.

Otherwise, picked/gathered lemons from our tree to send to my niece. I’m also sending her a couple of baby rings that have sat in my jewelry box for decades - one is mine, the other my mother’s. (My mom had an uncle in the business.) They’re not worth much per se but I think she’ll appreciate them as family heirlooms. I certainly will never do anything with them, and son would have no interest. Just waiting for brother to confirm her address since he sent it to me just before she moved last year and I am not confident she didn’t do something else. Or that brother would remember to tell me if she did.

Both my kids telegraphed future interests very early on – S2 was all about the military and European history from age 5 (From 1-5: first Thomas, then dinosaurs and wild animals, then military history). I have drawings, too! :) In middle school he was in a group called “the history boys.” All military, all history, all the time. Came over to play Risk all night on a regular basis.

S1 was computers all the way. Have a pic of him on H’s computer at work when he was 13 mo. He started writing stories on the computer (about Thomas) at 4, lived for the Zoombinis gaming program (which also had a lot of cool math concepts) from K-3, and started programming his TI-83 in 4th grade. Never a doubt what he would do as an adult!

Very sweet memories!

Our son never once displayed any outward interest in anything military, so this find was just a laugh and didn’t mean anything at the time. He was totally into digital filmmaking (and computers) from 5th grade on and picked his high school for its arts/film program. He was hell bent on USC for film school. Right up until…he wasn’t. No one predicted the military for him, including his HS. :woman_shrugging:

Today - the usual dog walks, baked a coffee cake, made some pasta from scratch, sorted several boxes of “stuff”, called our accountant. Talked with a friend. H and I went to the local dive for dinner where I had a forbidden but delicious cheeseburger. Now just trying to keep my eyes open!

edit to add that the passport I submitted for renewal last week arrived today! About a week turnaround time. H’s is still in process.

Got some more “ administrative “ stuff done this morning, then took a walk in my neighborhood. My strength/ weightlifting class was after that. Had to stop at the store and pick up more corned beef, I plan to cook it on Saturday. Showered and went to Mahjong where I proceeded to win the first two games.

Good thing I double checked with brother! Niece lives in Brookline, not Bellville, MA. I am holding myself back from forwarding him his email showing the wrong city.

Called my dad, worked on synagogue stuff about half the day, did laundry (6th load this week), watered/trimmed/propagated plants.

Added a swag sheer in our room to block sunlight that peeks out from the side of the blackout shades. Took three tries to get the first swag holder mollied into the wall. &^%$ studfinder! One of my small quilt rulers proved very helpful. Now I have holes to patch and paint. The swag curtain covers them, but if I don’t paint now, the walls will fade over time. The secret to making sure the swag covers the light leak: a binder clip, attached where noone will see it. Will do the other window as well, but it’s not as urgent. This leak interefered with H’s afternoon naps.

Long travel day…sitting at the gate at the airport waiting for a 7 am departure. Left our house about 4:30. Will arrive at our destination (and 105 degree or so temps) at noon their local time. Looking forward to having dinner tonight with our son!

And I was a member of under packers anonymous. Carry on, personal item, and a few things in a checked bag that couldn’t be carried on the plane.

10 days in the heat…and hopefully it will be more spring like when we return to New England.

Oh…and TSA precheck was a breeze. No hold up. No line. The regular TSA line was pretty long.

Headed out to the women’s March Madness in a couple of hours. I’ll see Oregon and Va Tech in the early game and then UT and Missouri State later in the afternoon. I am so excited. The only bummer is that going in person means I miss so many men’s and women’s games on TV. Hook ‘em! :sign_of_the_horns:

The Tree Guy came to look at a couple of small trees we want taken down. I’ll be going to the gym shortly and then walk the dog this afternoon. I’m waiting for my sister to call me; DH and I are planning to visit her and BIL in CA but settling a date is difficult.

And then there’s laundry. Always laundry.

It’s my husband’s 72nd birthday today!! You’d never guess it if you met him. He really doesn’t look older than I do at 63. I’m trying to figure out what we can do to celebrate.

Also trying to figure out why the web portal for the NAMI Maine Board is not working well. Support is not being very helpful.

Going to lunch with college friends. Yep, we’ve known each other for 50 years and when someone comes to town, we all have to go to lunch.
