What are you doing today?

We are in Strawberry Arizona. Going to Flagstaff and Parks tomorrow. Had a gorgeous drive around the rim in AZ. So many pine trees!

Nice lunch at a local brewery in Pines.

Everyone is relaxing now!!

You were super-productive!

Took a toothbrush and a Dawn/bleach solution to the master bath floor tile/grout. Had so much fun I kept going into the hallway and into the foyer. Floor looks new, I’m happy.

DH is grilling salmon tonight. We’ll probably watch a movie later, and I’ll retire early to bed to start my new book.

I found out today that I’m now a Daughter of the Republic of Texas (direct descendant of settlers). I love history so I’m very excited. It was a long process and I wondered if it would all work out.

@ChoatieMom I just love how excited you are about the floors. This is something that would make my mom so happy. One thing I know about myself is that I did not get the cleaning gene! Nothing about cleaning house excites me.

One of the things I miss most about S2 living in Ukraine is that we used to go to games together (Nats and Caps) and we watched football and March Madness at home. It sounds like he misses that, too. OTOH, he and DIL just arrived in Valencia so they can see Ukraine try to win a World Cup berth! In the interim between games, they are heading to the beach. Ah, marital compromise!

Well today, had a conference call with a bunch of MD scientists. Then filled gas, went to airport to return my Enterprise rental car—whoops, wrong location but they were kind enough to guide me out and then Wayz rerouted me to correct location after a bunch of strange turns.

When shuttle took me to body shop, I was VERY impressed by how they made my car better than it was even before the insured backed into it! The paint job they did was stellar and guaranteed for as long as I own the car! They said no machine washing or polishing until July. (H laughed because we do not do such things.)

I stopped at local grocer on the way home & picked up NY steaks @$9.99/lb, plus some veggies. Came home, heated lunch, then we headed out to H’s APRN internist. We brought along a list, updating everything since the last visit a month ago. The APRN kept saying how helpful the list was, even though it had 8 items on it, because it was very organized he was able to cover it all!

Then we went to shopping center to try on waterproof Hoka shoes and compare with the Merrell ones I brought along. I’m pretty sure the Hokas are less likely to cause me foot issues and are lighter so will be returning Merrells to Amazon and keeping the Hokas. (H didn’t find anything he liked or that fit him—he’s fine either way his old leather SAS shoes.)

Then back to the car (to put shoes into it) and on to dinner at Macy’s, Liliha Bakery. Next, drove H to his MRI 7pm appt. Then we drove to Costco to get produce, breakfast items, etc. and a router. Next stop CVS to pick up new Rx from APRN and finally home!

All in all it was a productive but somewhat tiring day.

Today I will continue cleaning up my planters on the deck. I’m having a blood draw (at home) – 14 vials, for the serum tears I use five times a day. I’ve found the at-home blood draw to be much more comfortable and successful. Then this afternoon to the gym, and a Zoom book club tonight. Life is good.

In a bummy mood. I seemed to have strained something pretty good on the top of my foot on Monday. It swelled Monday, felt decent enough Tuesday morning, so (of course) I ran. It felt mostly OK, but then swelled really good yesterday. So now I’m being the good kid and icing/resting/advil-ing, none of which have ever historically helped me much, and thus is also the case now. I do have some prednisone that does often help, but I don’t want to touch that until the heart thing gets solved… Grumble. I just want a normal week…

I’m taking off at 9:45 to use some time to veg at home and play piano and nap. I had it scheduled before I took off this morning. So I don’t really need it now, but oh well. I’ll enjoy it. Then I also have to leave early to get my hair cut at 5pm. It’s been 5 months. Unlike most people, I hate getting my hair cut. 15 min in the chair is about all I can take.

I may have just opened H a checking account. I got him his own Venture X a couple of months ago, so he can have his own credit in case something happens to me. They gave me $400 for doing so. Well, technically him, but he won’t even open the app/website unless something happens to me and the kids show him how… I did tell him about it and the first thing was “Where’s my $400?” Umm no. We’ve got bills to pay. He’s already spent his jury duty $$$ twice before he’s even gotten the check…

Headed off to annual physical. Then I do need to pack. Tomorrow we are headed back East for a funeral-ish event (actually more of a happy hour with hubby/BIL’s high school pals)… plus a bonus stop to visit Dad and his wife.

Well, it’s Wednesday again, so weekly meetup with my stitching gals at the club later this morning. DH will be there also as his buddy group gets together for coffee (earlier) several times a week which often stretches to lunch. I found out at our party last Saturday that the guys were discussing skincare creams (!!!) during their coffee time the previous day. I could not let this pass. They protested that they were talking about topicals for bruising that occurred after one of the guys had surgery on his arm. Sure, I said, and next thing you know, you guys will be knitting and trying to home in on our little group. No thanks. You boys just stay in your corner and keep your Cosmo talk to yourselves.

Walked the neighborhood

Called about my mom’s pension, every time I call I get a different answer. It’s ok but I’m hoping it’s figured out and we can move on.

Yesterday I asked my husband again to text the person we want to do our bathroom. She got back to H and will hopefully get out here next week.

I’m playing mahjong this afternoon. New cards have been released so we are trying them out today. Someone is bringing cupcakes to celebrate a birthday. I guess I’ll find out how cupcakes go with wine! :wine_glass:

Ate fish tacos for lunch, leftovers for dinner.

I’ve had a day. Showed up bright and early at the DMV office to renew my drivers license. I had all of the paperwork they told me to bring ( it was on the card they sent me). Uh… they needed more! Proof of my address ( it hasn’t changed). So no license today.

I went home and pulled a few documents, thankfully I have a vehicle registration and property tax bill because I realized that because late H put all the utilities in his name when we moved here, even the ones that he changed when he was sick still only have his name! I have no mortgage statement , no lease, no pay stubs ( retired, home paid for) etc.

Sorry for the rant. When I got home I wanted another cup of coffee, but discovered my Keurig was dead. The other one in the basement is also dead. So I ordered same day delivery and went to yoga.

I going for a long walk this afternoon…

Why is it that you think you have everything you need but still they need more? Every single time

No coffee, that’s no bueno!

I can’t believe that it’s taken all day long to get on cc. This might be a record.

But it illustrates how things just keep popping up. I had a plan for today got almost none of that done, yet anyway. Ds2 called to talk about a call he got out of the blue from a mentor offering some career advice. What she said was so interesting and kind of pointed. Really started an interesting convo. I miss this kid. Made me think about the estranged kids thread and how we as parents really just want to be a part of their lives and maybe even feel a little needed.

ETA: To clarify, ds2 and I have a great relationship. I just miss the frequent access and long talks.

Wrong thread! Too much skipping around.

Sorry you had to go through that. it’s such a pain.

We had a similar situation a few years back. I had the docs form said I needed but at DMV window they said I also needed my SS card or a recent paystub with my SS#. I was lucky we only live 5 minutes away and I sent H home and told him where SS card was & he returned with it before they closed so we got it done the same day (otherwise you have to make online appt and start again).

I’m sitting on the porch of a very nice and peaceful Airbnb in Parks AZ. Spent yesterday driving around the AZ rim which was beautiful. Today, we went to Flagstaff, and had a beautiful drive there, and a nice time in the town. Left mid afternoon, and stopped for dinner things. Tonight DS is making us our Christmas present dinner. We know it’s pork chops, but how he is planning to prepare is a surprise. He is a fabulous cook.

We can take a leisurely morning tomorrow…need to decide if we want to drive the 90 minutes to the Grand Canyon…or not. Then we drive back to Phoenix tomorrow.

We are having a great visit with DS!
