Today I will color my hair, go to a book club meeting at the library, and participate in an online Socratic discussion group this evening. Also will continue getting my deck organized and cleaned for the upcoming season. And, hopefully, will unpack and set up our new deck furniture, but I have a feeling that’s a longer project than just one day.
Cubs opening day! Go Cubs Go!
Baked bread yesterday and will assemble an edible fruit arrangement this morning to take out to my dad and his wife who live 80 miles from me. We’ll go out to lunch and chat for a couple of hours before I’ll need to leave to avoid the worst of rush hour. They moved themselves back to the house from assisted living this past November (very bad idea), so part of the reason to visit is just to see how they’re getting along back on their own, not that I can do anything about it.
As mentioned on another thread, I got to the DMV early today and got my license renewed. Woo hoo!
I’ll finish one of my library books this morning, so I’ll do a drop off/ pickup run later. My strength/ weightlifting class is at one and will be interesting as I am still really sore from Tuesday’s class. Mahjong is later this afternoon.
Today I will finish cleaning the tile floor. Yesterday I did the kitchen and over half the front foyer; it was dirtier than I thought! Goo Gone Grout and Tile Cleaner was wonderful. Floor doesn’t quite look brand new but husband says it’s blinding.
Then I guess some more Passover cleaning - although I did a thorough cleaning before our trip do more surface stuff other than the kitchen. We go for ingredient kosher for the holiday so clean enough is good enough. And start finalizing shopping list and timing for our little two person seder - son will join by video; second night is at synagogue.
And perhaps some more photo editing from the trip. We shall see.
Besides the usual, we are cleaning in preparation for the interior designer/stager who works with our Realtor friend to visit and give us a roadmap for what we should do and how we should do it should we ever sell this house. I’m embarrassed at how paralyzed we are around home improvements. I really hope meeting with her will get us off dead-center.
Tonight March Madness starts again, this time with the UT men. I don’t have a lot of hope that we will win, but who thought we’d make it this far? We are playing with borrowed money at this point. ![]()
It’s in the 40’s where I am right now. Waiting for it to warm up (which is happening) and will then figure out what to wear today.
Not exactly sure what we are doing! But whatever it is, it will be fun.
Yesterday we had PT. Today we are taking friends to brunch at a nice little place in a local grocery store. It’s a nice little restaurant. I will start packing for our trip as well—laying things out on the bed to prepare. We leave soon for a short stay in SF to visit loved ones, D & BIL, niece & her family, & see MDs.
I’ve managed to exercise four days in a row, do some yard work and all of my errands are out of the way this week. We are going out for a nice dinner tonight. I went to a UVA webinar on improving your digital algorithm this afternoon which was excellent. Full of helpful information. I ordered a book “The 27th Mile” which arrived today and I will start tomorrow. Usual dog activities every day, Sabadog has been in great spirits, full of energy.
I drove today, with great trepidation. My house being remodeled after water leakage. Every cabinet had to be emptied, so new floors could be installed. Four walls came down. Then house painted. Finally, dining room furniture back in place so could unpack some things. Still no water line to fridge. D/w not being cooperative . End result, I went to move my car after a long day of working. I hit my neighbors mail box and broke my rear glass. I cancelled some appointments, but my hair rescheduled for today. Because of that, I had to drive!
Nothing spectacular here. Currently icing my foot. Swelling is going down. Feels like it’s tightening back up. I’m thinking tomorrow I might go to the gym to try riding the bike and doing some lifting that doesn’t requires lifting heavy weights. Arms and pull ups and abs and maybe 1 legged pushups. We will see.
Regular day at work. Learning how to close my door when the guy outside talks on the phone. It’s work related, but he does it all dang day. Closing the door stops about 90% of the noise.
We got a free porch rocking chair from Lowe’s. They screwed up a few things and the one H was supposed to pick up assembled had a crack in it, so he said he’d take it if he got it free. Fine by me. I rarely sit out on the porch anyway.
Ive developed some swelling in one of my arms, I had a PT appointment with the lymphatic specialist. She worked on it and got some of the swelling to go down. She is recommending to try a compression sleeve. The drug store didn’t have any so I’ve reached out to a specialty store that can order if I get a prescription for Medicare to cover it. That takes awhile so I ordered one from Amazon in the meantime.
Next up was a strength training class. The instructor is out of town and we had a different substitute today, she worked us hard. I was already sore from the Tuesday sub and now will be sore on even more places.
Now I’m making soup for tomorrow.my grandson has requested matzo ball soup.
Also sewed some fringe back on the edge of an area rug.
Nothing to exciting.
Took the day off yesterday & went back to the Y today. I think the “running” I did the other day took something out of me, so I kept the speeds a bit lower. Mixing up the weights as well.
H is still sick with the cold, so I’m not sleeping well. Better than him, but not great.
A stop at a thrift store on the way home — a beautiful antique secretary/ display case for only $175, but I don’t have anywhere to put it. I have got to get to work clearing out the #### around this place.
Now an old fashioned, a girl dinner, and the hockey game; when it’s over it’ll be time for baseball. Tridents up

Today I’ll go to the gym this morning, then lunch with DG and a friend. This afternoon I hope to continue working on cleaning up the deck, but I’m waiting for a new hose/nozzle to be delivered from Amazon, so I don’t know when that will arrive, and I need it to proceed. Exciting stuff, huh? (No. Not at all. Even for me.)
I’m going to Kroger today - it’s quadruple points day, so I do as much of my shopping as possible on Fridays. We typically save $70/month using our points for gas (we fill up two cars per visit twice a month so we can get the full $35/trip discount each time). Yeah, my life is exciting.
It’s cold this morning - feels like 13, on the heels of yesterday’s 70 degrees. The sun is struggling to win out over the clouds, though, so it’s all good. I enjoy walking most when the sun is shining.
I’m working from home today, but should be finished by 1 pm. Going over to help D2 with a few things around her apartment this afternoon. After that D2 and I are going on a 6 mile hike in a canyon area nearby where lots of flowers are blooming. Another 75 degree day today.
Laundry this morning, putting fresh sheets on the bed, and cleaning the MB suite. DH is out with the guys again today, all day, so I’m taking myself shopping for a cocktail dress for my 50th class reunion in September. I have to buy the dress before we leave for Maine at the end of May because retail is a whole lot better here than there. I have an acceptable backup dress though, so maybe this is just an excuse to take myself out for the afternoon. ![]()
(Really what I need is a face that is ten years younger. Anyone know where I can buy that?)
ETA: YAY! Found the dress!
Going out to breakfast with our son, then off to the MIM. A nice day.
Tomorrow, lunch with friends, then dinner at some Indian restaurant our DS raves about.
This has been such a nice vacation visit!
If you find out, please share!
And I could use a magic formula for eating enough protein without putting on a couple pounds in the process (annoying side effect).
Doing laundry in preparation for tomorrow’s road trip to March Madness.
About to exercise, but before I did that I weighed myself this morning. I’m lower than I’ve been in months. Finally. I credit the chia seeds. lol
Yesterday, the interior designer/stager came. Dh and I both loved her. I felt like she really heard us and wasn’t afraid to disagree with the Realtor. We’ll get a write-up next week, and we can decide from there what to do and when. But all this talk of spending money made me rethink whether I should take my Social Security. All the analyses say to take it now, but I hear my mom in the back of my head always being regretful that she took it early. Anyway, I’ll be spending part of today looking more into that.
And then … watching game after game of basketball and baseball and softball!
