What are you doing today?

Remind me again about the chia seeds. Do you just sprinkle them on food? Or something else?

I put them in yoghurt and fruit, granola and on salads. You can also make puddings and such though I never have. I just like them and assume they are good fiber.

Woke up convinced it was Saturday. Uh, not yet. Went to the grocery store and did a bit of vacuuming. It’s cold and windy today so no walking, but there is a fun sounding yoga class later this afternoon that I plan to do. My soreness from Tuesdays strength class is going away.
Made egg salad and took some meat out of the freezer so I can make beef stroganoff in the crockpot tomorrow. I’m trying to be better about actually cooking and not eating junk.
I’m excited that D booked a cabin “ up North” for a long weekend in September. This is the place she, SIL and their friends go every July ( I stay here and watch grand dog) but this time I am going.

You laugh, but I needed eyelid surgery three years ago due to very droopy eyes, and the doctor said it would be only halfway effective unless I did a brow lift too. So I did ($7000 out of pocket for that part; Medicare paid for the eyelids). I really did look ten years younger afterwards. Wouldn’t have done it if it wasn’t medically necessary, but I am very glad for the mini face lift side benefit!

In other activities, started the day with homemade birthday waffles for husband’s 75th. We’ll be going out later for aperitif menu at Mr. A’s bar with the sweeping San Diego city and bay views, husband’s choice for birthday dinner. In between? I dunno, cleaning, editing photos, grabbing some Vitamin D in the yard.

My H had eyelid surgery because eyelid droop was impairing his vision. The lift improved his vision but didn’t change anything else that I could think of.

My dad had eyelid surgery, too. It really helped with him always seeming to be resting his eyes, and it did take a few years off. No knives or injections for me, though. I’ve earned this face, and I’m really OK with it. :joy: It’s more the years than the face I want back.

But adding on to what I’m doing today, DH went out with a few of his movie club friends to have lunch and see Project Hail Mary. We wives are meeting up with them later for dinner at a place near the theatre, so nice Friday evening for me, too.

A woman we know had eyelid surgery recently, and she looks great - so much younger. H will need it eventually, and he always asks if he’s bad enough for it yet when he goes to the eye doctor.

On another note, I just finished scrubbing the oven racks … yucky job with a great payoff!

Yay for Friday!

Busy morning with the dogs. H took their bedding to the laundromat for a refresh. Sabapup is favoring a front leg after leaping down the front stairs yesterday so the toys had to be corralled and anti-inflammatory meds started. She’s missing her stuffed pig and pickle! We met with our accountant to review our taxes. It’s rainy with a front coming through. Good day to be a little lazy.

I sprinkle them on meals. For instance, most days at least one meal is grilled chicken and oven-roasted veggies over basmati. After heating up the food, I sprinkle chia seeds on the whole thing and top with some homemade teriyaki sauce to get the seeds wet and heat a little more to take the chill off the sauce.

I have a squishy texture aversion so I could never do what dh does: Put a scoop in a glass of water and let the seeds expand and then drink it. That would be way too gelatinous for me! But I say they have done wonders for, uh, digestive issues.

Thanks. I’m going to try them.

Exercise and pup walk to start the day. Endocrinologist appt for osteoporosis - no issues (except the osteoporosis!). Did some errands. Easter basket stuff which takes an interesting take/turn for your kids when they are adults but I still like giving and they enjoy getting!
Each household is getting some fun melamine sets for outdoor eating this summer - great prices at Home Goods.

Stopped at the specialty Italian store to pick up some fun condiments for said Easter baskets and picked up some calzones for an easy dinner tonight. Also picked up a ready-to-bake in-house biscotti package from their bakery for next weekend as well.

Stop at the tile store. Not impressed with the samples ordered for me.

Gave the dog a much needed bath at home. I swear while he doesn’t love it it’s got to feel good afterwards!!! Extra treats for the good pup.

Taking care of some around the house tasks. Yesterday was warm and I was wearing shorts, today is cold and gloves/hats needed for the morning walk.

Tomorrow I’ll do the farmers market in the morning, meet husband to go over our taxes with our tax person and maybe stop at an estate sale in the area.

Much of this weekend is prep or planning for Easter next Saturday which we host. :hatching_chick:

Hmmm, another day of playing tag with various folks at medical insurance company. Have spent all morning with them but also wrote 2 letters of commendation for 2 of the customer service people with medical insurer who were very polite and helped me sort through a lot of the red tape.

Looks like they will re-process the bills so that Medicare will pay 1st and then my insurer will pay the balance so I won’t have to pay any copay. That seems like it was worth my while to get ALL the bills pulled back and corrected so we aren’t doing this piecemeal. Hopefully they will correctly code going forward as well.

I also called CVS Caremark to speak with supervisor since the medical center says they never received payment from insurer for the medications that were administered to my husband when he was under observation in 4/3 and 4/4/2025! Argh–payment was made to them sometimes in late Oct, early Nov!

I caught the last hour of my grandson’s intensive therapy. They had a little graduation for him with his three therapists sharing kind words about him and his progress.
Costco and lunch with husband.
Picked up two other grandchildren after preschool. We had them for the afternoon and dinner before bringing them home.
It was a great day.

I started to set up our new deck furniture yesterday. I really really like it a lot. I had a massive scare: I ordered the furniture in gray; it also came in brown. As I started to open the first box, I saw it said “Vintage Coffee.” OMG – no, they delivered the wrong color!! Boxes and boxes of heavy stuff – how will we ever return it?? Luckily before I started the return process I opened one of the boxes to see what it looked like – it’s the dark gray I thought I wanted. I guess they call it Vintage Coffee but customers said it’s gray, so that’s what they called it in the online description. Thank goodness.

In a few minutes I’ll go set up more of it – the chairs and couch have some (hopefully) simple assembly that I’ll have to do. I’ll also be marching later today with a couple of friends.

New outdoor furniture (even being able to have the weather nice enough to set it up) is a happy day!!!

We woke up to light snow this morning - the thought of being able to use outdoor furniture someday soon is wonderful.

Brunch/lunch with friends. Then some time at DSs place, I think. Then out to dinner to some Indian place. I’m not a fan of Indian cuisine, but I’m sire I’ll find something on the menu to eat.

It’s actually gorgeous where I am today. Temps will top off in mid 90’s instead of 100. Guess we could have selected outdoor in the shade brunch!
