Sunday is my day of rest from my week of rest. Nothing on the agenda but grilling pizzas for dinner. We’ll finish up The Count of Monte Cristo tonight.
Yoga this morning. Cleaned out a bathroom vanity, threw away a bunch of stuff and put a couple of things on Buy Nothing. Just got back from a five mile walk in my neighborhood while listening to a library author talk. Taking a break before going outside and cleaning up a bunch of dead leaves that congregate in my back parking space.
I went to church, washed sheets, walked, watched UMich dominate. Time for tea & the Sunday paper.
I went to a small gathering that the president of a group I belong to hosted, to discuss No Kings Day. We discussed lots of other things. Went to Costco to see abut getting my $500 reduction in the price of our new outdoor furniture, since it just went on sale. The nice lady told me I had to either call them or do it online; they couldn’t do it in the store. I did it online – it was the easiest form ever. Then took a nap, went to the gym, and then to Whole Foods for a few dinner recipe items. And here I am.
We drove two hours to my sister’s house and had lunch with my parents, all 3 of my siblings and their spouses, and roughly half of my nieces and nephews. Two great nephews and a great niece were also there. This was the first time we had been together since Christmas.
I had the best day!
Got up at my sister’s, and while they were at church I did a cardio workout with my trainer, and those endorphins lasted all day. Took a shower had leftovers for lunch and watched some basketball until my sister got back. Eventually drove 45 mins to my SIL’s house so we could see her new grandbaby and all the kids. I am in love. I haven’t gotten to cuddle a baby in so long, and she is tiny, only about 7 pounds and a month old. We had dinner and visited with the kids, who are in their mid-30s. They are great new parents. Oh, and I finally met my nephew’s MIL, who lives with them. She was delightful, kind of not what I expected, truthfully. But maybe that’s a story for the Say It Here thread.
Anyway, looking forward to the Elite Eight tomorrow night! And i’m going to go visit my 90yo uncle for a bit. And we’ll have lunch at our favorite local place since we are rarely up here.
Well, today we are regrouping and packing after unexpected visit to emergency room for H’s breathlessness. The nice ER doc said everything looked pretty normal and nothing he could treat but advised us to see internist and pulmonology and cardiology as soon as we could.
Texted and sent an electronic health record message to my HI lung doc, who very kindly agreed to see H tomorrow as H and I are scheduled to fly out on Tuesday and the doc on Wednesday.
The doctor kindly reviewed H’s electronic health records and said heart and lung results appear pretty normal but he will still fit us into his packed schedule tomorrow.
We have been packing and otherwise had a pretty quiet day—washing laundry and I’m slooooowly progressing in learning Finnish on Duolingo. My friend allowed me to join his super family plan—$240 for 6 people for a year!
I hope your H gets seen today and you get some comfort in leaving for your trip this week. .
Today I’m getting some blood taken for labs for my annual physical in a week. Then driving about half an hour to see Project Hail Mary with a friend at an Imax theater. S2 and DIL saw it over the weekend and really enjoyed it.
Also need to step up my game of cleaning out the planters on the deck. Those darn planters aren’t going to clean themselves.
Today, I am recovering from weekend houseguests. One of them was increasingly annoying.
Questions to me like:
- Why do you have a weekly schedule? (Implied: why does a retiree need a schedule?).
- Why are you wearing that? (Because I am comfortable in this weather?)
- Why did you think the weather was going to be worse than it was? (Because it was forecast to have windchills in the 20s?)
- Why do you look at your phone? (Possibly as an escape from this — but really I saw a message pop up on my Apple Watch. Phone is on silent to minimize interactions).
Silence is golden.
Packing up to fly home after a terrific 10 day visit with DS. We just had a great time (even with the 100 degree unseasonably high temps). Had lunch with friends, and our former neighbors too. Went to the MIM and Phoenix Art Museum. Traveled to the Flagstaff area for three days midweek. Stayed at the very best Airbnb in Phoenix, in our opinion.
Plane leaves in 5 hours. Sitting outside enjoying my last coffee here this morning.
It will be nice to be home, but we will miss being here too.
Sounds like a four-year-old.
Working from home today. This is a slower week for me work wise which is nice. Tonight we head to Petco Park for our first Padres game of the season. I always love an evening game in the most beautiful ballpark!
@Mom22039 - Ugh. Nothing worse than hosting someone who criticizes you when you are offering them hospitality…
I assume this will be their last visit.
I have a relative like this.
Makes me feel off center, uncertain of myself. The constant questioning of everything!
I can’t quite figure out the motive. Maybe because of an extreme need to be in control. Maybe because they want me to feel off my game. Maybe it’s who they are but it feels so intentional
It’s quite unnerving. So sorry @Mom22039
Before we left last year, we purchased a slab of granite to replace the cabin’s kitchen countertop. Now that we have our tickets and date of return, I’m calling the installers today to see if I can get them to come out the week we return to template the job and get the new counter installed (and sink undermounted, yes!) as soon as possible.
Otherwise, nothing else on the agenda besides planning Easter dinner (lamb, always lamb) and inviting my mother over.
ETA: The installers are coming to template two days after we land, and the counter will be installed the following week. We’ll have a “new” kitchen soon after we open up. Yippee!
My fridge will finally be put back in wall. Cabinets back in place. Maybe toe kicks installed?
Then to targets to buy toys for grandson. DIL finally offered suggestions
Well, the good thing is both my lung doc and the ER doc say H should be fine to fly, but having H seen today by my local lung doc will be VERY reassuring and hopefully help us get some answers.
I exercised this morning and now doing several loads of laundry.
It was raining this morning so no dog walk but it’s clearing up so I plan to go shortly.
I need to go to the grocery store but Mondays are the worst. Plus kids are on spring break this week so I know Trader Joes will be crazier than usual. I have to take dh to the airport around 4:30 so think I might just do the grocery run on the way back.
Need to also work on our “loose” itinerary for our upcoming trip to Italy/Puglia.
