Yay—filling was repaired and cavity exposed by the chipped filling was fixed! All good and soon my mouth will be un-numb and I can eat again.
Today, I’m getting a non-covered PRP (platelet-rich plasma) shot in my ankle. I can’t have another steroid shot right now and surgery is scheduled for May.
I hope this works!
A regular work day. I’m detailing precast concrete for a landscaping project at a high school in Massachusetts. DH and I will also be preparing for a meeting with the family therapist tomorrow. We have listening exercises to do so we can respond to our estranged son when we go to joint sessions.
DH is going to the dentist today. I always dread what they find, because he has horrible teeth, too. I always owe them money.
I’m glad I have good teeth. One tiny cavity when I was 30. I did have to get a crown due to chewing on pencils, though! Embarrassing. Then the crown broke off, taking some of the tooth, so I had to get a dental implant. $7,000! An expensive bad habit.
I’m going to the gym and have an appointment with a PT who specializes in lymphedema. I get bad swelling in one of my legs and have for years. It varies from barely noticeable to very noticeable. My regular PT suggested I see this person. I’ve had testing for DVT and those tests were negative.
Today has been back to the basement where I discovered that one of the pipes has been leaking. Just enough not to be noticeable but of course leaked right over the boxes that were full of photos, etc. - so that ‘s been a lot of fun! Just finished going through the boxes which were thankfully mostly trash and now we’re sorting through “stuff” that’s going to be donated. Never a dull moment around here!
Hairdresser to get my hair cut. (My SIL is a hairdresser so I can’t show up at her house next week with shaggy hair or she’ll feel obligated to cut it for me.)
Now, I’m making a yeast based almond-filled coffee cake for tomorrow’s breakfast. I’m also watching some PBS– an American Experience about the secrecy and publicity around the first atomic bomb while waiting for the dough to rise. As usual, the show is very well done.
Will take some donations of clothing and other times to Goodwill if I have time before the grandkids get home once the coffee cake comes out of the oven. (I’ve been clearing out my closet and drawers this week.)
Still have to decide what to make for dinner. There’s lots of leftover tomato soup, some refried beans from Monday’s enchiladas, some cold rice. Maybe tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches? Vegetarian nachos? Fried rice? Maybe all of the above.
Getting a few miscellaneous things done, mostly organization and paperwork. I’m going to a strength/ weight class soon and my Mahjong group later this afternoon.
Mostly I ( and everyone I know here) am trying to process the tragedy that happened in my city yesterday.
I am off work today and tomorrow, babysitting my H who had total knee replacement surgery yesterday. I’m getting a few small oddball jobs done around the house, mostly sitting and reading in between taking care of H.
@Mom22039 My kid had surgery at 10, did physical therapy for years and years, and PRP eliminated the problem in 24 hours, and lasted 10 years. No surgery needed. Hope it helps you!
I successfully - finally - found the right software to download onto my computer to transfer and view videos from my Sony A6100 camera. The Sony software would like to manage all my images and videos it found on the computer but that’s an issue for another day.
I guess now I need to learn how to use the video function on the camera! Aside from the 9 second test video I took.
Last night got all the 2025 year end financial documents from bookkeeper and shared with with my Board, as well as agenda and bill for next 24 months storage fees.
This morning, made reservations at new (to me) Izukaya place and invited my friend & her husband who normally attend season community theater with us. She wrote back they’ll be skiing in Canada with her D & D’s BF, so do we want tickets. Told kids they’re coming with us to dinner & play. Haha!
My H had both knees replaced last year! I hope your H does well with his. We got an ice machine which was a lifesaver.
I didn’t do any Christmas takedown yesterday after all because the new tree bag had to be put together. It’s done now, and the de-christmas-ing has begun.
We shopped for the new dishwasher. H couldn’t find a replacement spring and Bosch told him that the part was no longer being made. At 19 years old, it served us well. Our favorite local appliance store has the replacement we want in stock & available for pickup tomorrow. H will do the install. I may have to leave during that process.
I went to the broadway show Six today (Christmas present from my sister). It was really fun and I liked it a lot more than I expected to. It was a matinee, and when we got out it was still light out! (Show only lasts about 90 minutes.
Tonight I watched the first episode of season 2 of the Pitt. I got HBOMax at thanksgiving, so I didn’t realize the episodes are released one per week. That was disappointing as I thought the whole season (or at least half) would be released today.
Also was surprised that D had energy and was willing to go shopping at outlet mall. I drove us there while she navigated with google maps (we rarely ever go there). I started us off with nice Japanese lunch—5 fried oysters & miso butterfish. Then I drove us to Banana Republic, as we have gotten nice garments there at their store when it was at nearby malls (sadly stores closed). We were able to find her 3 dressy & 4 casual tshirts to upgrade and freshen her wardrobe, plus a nice dressy shirtwaist midi dress for an upcoming October wedding. We also went next door to OldNavy & got 3 more casual tshirts there. Grand total purchases including nice lunch was <$300.
On the way home, stopped off at Home Depot and picked up item H had ordered—after 2 orders that were incorrectly filled, this was correct!
Then got home and drove myself and another Board member to my nonprofit board meeting.
I saw a Broadway show on Wednesday called “Liberation” – about a consciousness raising group in the early ‘70s. It was fantastic!!
I have my stained glass mosaic glass today ![]()
