Looks like the same weather we had when we went wine tasting there in fall 2023.
Need to run to Costco and gas up my car. Can’t imagine how expensive gas will be today! Heading to Petco Park this evening for the Padres game. My company has a suite for the night which is always fun.
I’ll be walking to a neighborhood coffee place soon for my book club meeting. D is dropping off her dog for the afternoon, so I’ll take him for a nice long walk then.
My yoga studio is having an appreciation party for long time/active members this evening. I’m looking forward to that.
We are three states away & just filled up. It was $1 less than what we paid at home. It was $3.99, but it’s $4.99 in our state!
My local cheap station is $5.89. Luckily I don’t drive a lot; filled the tank in early March when it was $4.59 and still on that tank. It’s a Ralph’s station and we generally get 10-30 cents/gallon off in fuel points.
The closest Cosco (not a member) shows $5.69.
I ran today for the first time in 5.5 weeks. Kept it short at 15 min with a couple of walk breaks to keep the foot happy. Felt fine. Finished with 45 min on the stairmonster. Then some light lifting and mobility work. Then a nap and some cleaning. We are going to the library after lunch and then a walk through a new park. Dinner TBD. We might go to a classic Pizza Hut 1:15 away.
Bigger news is that I used the heat for the first time in over a month. Radiator got fixed this week. Still no sign of new mushroom growth. I’ve sprayed the carpet a few times hoping it helps. I was trying to hold off using it until winter, but it got back down to 62 in here. Cranked it up to 66. Ahhh… cats are all happy. I think they all found their own radiator to lie on.
Going to get a haircut & start packing.
Also trying to figure out how to pack things to send them back because they are broken/don’t work, but am supposed to let a friend see them before I ship them back. He’s supposed to call so he can view this weekend.
Also have to be sure my travel things are all organized and I have all I need printed out.
It’s Derby Day, so I’ve made a Derby pie and a batch of Benedictine spread. I may be tied to a mortgage and voter registration in TN now, but I’ll always be a Kentucky soul, so it’s time to watch NBC’s afternoon of coverage for the next 5 hours.

It’s Derby Day???!!! Mint Juleps, everyone!!! Must go pick mint…
(I should post on the “Today’s Reminder that I am OLD” thread that I know I’m losing it when I don’t know it’s Derby Day.)
I didn’t know it was Derby Day until a friend texted that she heard someone say that the Kentucky Derby is NASCAR for the Amish. ![]()
Two Costcos, business and regular, gas ($5.89 for premium at Costco), liquor store, grocery store.
It’s H’s birthday tomorrow, so we’re celebrating today. SIL smoked a pork butt, and they’re bringing all of the associated fixings for dinner.
We’re headed over to our other place tomorrow. H will be there for I don’t know how long. Unless he comes home for a couple of days next week, it could be mid-June before he’s back. Of course, he planted a bunch of stuff here and hasn’t yet set up the sprinkler timers.
The grandpug will be here for dinner.
Just watched the Derby - exciting finish and yay for Cherie!
Next off to a fiesta party at the new neighbors across the street.
We had a great brunch where we are visiting…and my whole family here was there! It was so much fun…and we had a lot of great laughs.
Then we relaxed in the afternoon, and went for pizza with HS friends at a place I haven’t been to in 50 years at least. Great time out with them too.
This is a pretty busy long weekend trip, but we are squeezing in as much as we can!
Not today , but yesterday I went to 4 grocery stores and 2 banks. All between 8 and 11 am. I got in 4700 steps and was exhausted! The only thing i got for myself were chicken thighs, the rest was for my daughter, son in law and grandson. I was pooped and deserved the award for the best Oma.
Coached my 4th graders to their first tie of the year, did church stuff, went to my local with my wife to watch NWSL. The number of margaritas I had matched the number of goals scored by my favorite team.
The neighbors across the street throwing the fiesta party just brought in a churro truck. With multiple toppings. I feel like going home and coming back. Multiple times.
I got a haircut, went shopping at a cute store whose owners are retiring after 50 years (bought 20 tote bags).
Next, showed a patient some O2 equipment I have received to try out, boxed up all the O2 equipment for servicing and their inventory, went to storage unit for a box for shipping one of the pieces of equipment, and then stopped at Costco for poke, lettuce, frozen lasagna (on sale $10) & a sun shirt (surprise $9.97 sale). Now I’m chilling at home.
Have you seen the tv show Elsbeth? The 20 tote bags made me think of her. (IYKYK)
That looks so gorgeous.
