That’s a bummer all the way around. I hope you both can “plan B” sometime soon.
Well we are in the air, en route to visit S & DIL in NYC. So far so good. Finished packing before we got picked up and accepted my niece’s invitation to be at her graduation from residency program. She’s disappointed her parents and younger sister will be touring Iceland instead and didn’t save the date. (My SisIL and brother said back in their day, nothing happened when they finished residency, not when their S finished his.). Anyway, I’m happy to attend and make a fuss—love niece! She’s worked hard and has 3 month old and older preschooler!
So.Much.Raking. I tried to convince H that the leaves were fine as mulch, but he disagreed. Ah, well.
H installed the new dishwasher. We’ve had this place for about 11 years, and the appliances are showing their ages. Knock on wood that this is the last for awhile.
Once he finished that, it was cleaning the roof of the 5th wheel.
I’m hoping for a couple of rest days.
Crazy day today…eye doctor appt at 8 a.m. Then desk time at the local artisans guild (and will also get to see the new exhibit that just started). Then a dance lesson at 3:00.
I’ll be happy to get home and have a quiet dinner!!
Today was my off-day from the gym. I’m really sore (in a good way), so it was nice. I wish I could have slept in, but I had the cats on me at 3:30. Gave up and got up at 4:30. Gave me time to do my Duolingo, read, and play piano for an hour.
Now I’m at work, but I only have a 1/2 day. The Subaru needs an oil change and all the Saturdays were booked. The dealer is an hour away and it takes 1:30 if we’re lucky. I can’t say I mind having only a half day at work. After the oil change, we will go to the used bookstore and then out to eat for our Fast Food Thursday.
I dropped my little dog at the vet this morning 7 AM. She’s going to have her teeth cleaned. I always worry about anesthesia.
Then working all morning, lunch with my girlfriend. I’m taking off the afternoon so I’ll be free to pick up my little dog whenever.
We will be doing that this weekend!
I’m flying home from two weeks in Italy. Rubio is in Rome today (meeting with the Pope) so there were an insane number of helicopters up.
It’s been a great escape but I miss my garden. D1 and her husband are coming for Mother’s Day. I am looking forward to the weekend!
We started the day running over to my favorite coffee shop for coffee, pastries, and a small bag of my favorite beans to take home.
Then off for a day of touring apartments for son’s future move to the Eastside of Seattle to be closer to work and lower rent. It was interesting and he added some possibilities to his options. We had a quick lunch at Totem Lake mall, bigger and busier than I expected. There were tons of apartments above the stores but son said no thank you. Then dinner was at Pink Door by Pike Place. I had lucked into an Open Table priority notification reservation and asked for a window table if possible - which we got.
My apps tell me I walked 3.3 miles and climbed 8 flights of stairs, so I no longer feel guilty about the Salt & Straw ice cream after lunch.
Today will be busy as I have some meetings scheduled and then am picking up some items I purchased at auction. I was happy to be the winning bidder on a Roseville peony vase and some bookends. We are headed to an outdoor concert at a local brewery tomorrow in support of our local SPCA which should be fun. Yesterday was my LLI class and I am enjoying it so much. Our instructor knows two of my college professors! I am so glad I signed up for it.
Not the most exciting day…
Leaving house soon. Need to fill the car with gas, and go to the bank. Then volunteer gig. Then pick up friend and drive to a conference we are both volunteering at. Meeting there, dinner out, volunteer from 6:30 to 10 tonight. Whew!
It’s always fun to see the people at this conference!
Woke up early (for me) to get things accomplished before meeting bff for lunch. She’s been in Germany for a couple of weeks, and for some reason i really missed her. She’s not the kind of bff with whom I speak every day or even every week, but I guess I just love knowing that she’s close. I don’t know. I really felt her absence this time.
Anyway, later dh and I will watch that new episode of The Bear before the Spurs game. GSG!
I have to get fingerprinted today
Well, sorting out H’s medications. Had to call HI CVS and have them transfer a prescription for the medicine he forgot to the NY pharmacy & then go there to pick it up.
Next, had to call the Synthroid Delivers program to double-check that they have enrolled H into the program and get info so we can have the Rx sent to their pharmacy. They also told me to have H sign an authorization so they can talk to me at the pharmacy. This is cheapest way to get name brand Synthroid. It’s about 1/2 the price of when we get it at pharmacy locally.
Not sure we have plans for rest of the day.
Whoops—MyChart message to H’s MD about drug side effect and hopeful of sub for a different Rx for H’s chronic GERD—preferably before we leave NY for overseas.
A pretty typical boring day. Workout, then to work. But, at work I had a retirement board meeting and I learned that if I died today - after 29 years of service - that H would indeed still get my pension. I recently thought and panicked that he wouldn’t. He’s retired, and couldn’t survive on his just pension plus min. wage job. And he’s several years away from social security/Medicare, and I carry the insurance, which would be lost. I have life insurance, but not enough to cover that kind of gap. Anyhow, I am quite relieved.
After work, waffles for dinner, then on to the Friday Target run, and then a movie which is still TBD. I hate that part of the week. Trying to find a movie that suits H. We’ve seen everything already that he wants to watch! Oh wait. I think Apex is now free, or at least not $20.
Still with son - taking off shortly for the road trip to Whidbey Island. We’ll stop for breakfast about 15 minutes up. Then I hope to see beautiful views, charming towns, and blooming gardens. The spring flowers in Seattle have been great so far. Down the street:
I had to go get bloodwork done this morning and now I’ll work until about noon. I need to clean up downstairs as friends are coming over for drinks and snacks at 5. I will also need to run by Trader Joe’s to get the snacks.
Up and headed toward Trader Joe’s before the 9 AM opening. Got a spot in the parking lot
but when I was leaving at 9:15 traffic was already backed up for people trying to get into the lot.
Heading out on foot in a bit to drop off some donations, go to the library and independent bookstore and finish up at Walgreens. It’s a beautiful day and I love my walkable neighborhood.
Y’all, I’m going to a 1-year-old’s bday party! They are having mariachis!
DH and I have been visiting my sister and BIL in San Diego. Today is our last day. It’s good to be reminded from time to time about why I don’t live closer to my sister. ![]()
