Bourbon cream enhances just about anything.
Today was a total “recharge my battery” day. I think I might have mentioned on the MD thread that we got home from Italy last Monday evening, then I worked Tues-Saturday, which included an event that ended at 8pm Friday evening. I then went right from work to a dinner party on Saturday night. Yesterday I had to finally get to some spring cleaning outside then we had my parents over for MD. At least dh and D21 did all the cooking and clean up.
Today I woke up to rain, which seemed like the perfect excuse to stay home. I caught up on laundry, some house cleaning and read my book for at least an hour. I did make dinner tonight (Marry Me Chicken) but I do feel rested and recharged finally!
Did my volunteer gig, and then went to Mah Jong.
My husband is away until Friday, so I’m enjoying the quiet!!
Recovery day after a long day of flying yesterday. Doing laundry right now.
Have to run out to the vet to pick up med for elderly kitty, but (I think) the county inspector is coming for the final inspection of the new gas fireplaces. So have to wait for him to show up first.
Came home to discover younger kitty’s huge cancerous hind leg tumor has ulcerated. Talked with SIL and D about scheduling euthanasia for her. Sadly, her time is running out. The sarcoma has progressed very quickly.
When grands get home, Twin B has a project for me. Her shark stuffy got ripped and needs a “grandma fix it”.
Had lovely 2 hr ferry rides between Helsinki & Estonia. It’s lovely and fun but a lot of walking up and down cobblestones and stairs. We’ve pretty tired but having a fabulous time! The food on the ferries was excellent and fairly-priced!
Tomorrow we catch an overnight ferry, Helsinki to Stockholm after a smorgasbord on the boat!
Gym class, done. I’ll work for a few hours detailing precast concrete, then DH and I are going on a tour of a project with our structural engineering association. We’ll all go to a pub afterwards.
A friend will bring DS to the mental health support group since we won’t have time to pick him up after our meeting. DH and I will go to it together and it’s my turn to lead the discussion. I guess I shouldn’t drink too much at the pub!
Went to the gym. Drove to a nearby town to look at a Buy Nothing couch, but I decided it was too worn. Eating lunch now, then I’ll be driving DH to a medical appointment. This afternoon I’ll take the dog to the woods for his (and my) romp. Tonight, maybe I’ll make ribs. And canned corn, which I love. (You have to rinse it, though.)
Meeting a friend for lunch. Then a ballroom dance lesson. Then a town committee meeting at 7. Whew!
Walk with Sabapup this morning and again after lunch. Pilates this morning, which I didn’t want to go to, but I did and feel better for doing so. I may take a nap this afternoon. It’s overcast and cool, perfect nap weather!
Walked to yoga on a gorgeous day. Stopped and picked up a few things at the co-op on the way back. I’m packing for a long weekend in Chicago. It’s both my birthday weekend and the first anniversary of losing H, so I want to get out of town. The guys are supposed to come sometime this afternoon between 2-6 to turn on my sprinkler system for the season, so I’m stuck here until then.
Had a snack in oldest bakery in Helsinki, struck up a nice conservation with 2 men from Glasgow, and then we caught Bolt to terminal and then overnight ferry to Stockholm. We had a varied smorgasbord that was fun and tasty. We went to 12th floor observation deck for a walk around deck after dinner, watched kids dance with ship mascot, showed off our room to our friends and plan to it an early night.
Stuck at home most of the day while the crew finishes painting the exterior of our house. DH is in LA visiting his parents before we leave for our Maine summer on the 24th. We’ll start to shut down the house when he gets home. Boy, time flies.
@FallGirl It’s so lovely that you have an out of town trip planned for this difficult anniversary. Thinking of you and sending hugs.
Just finished Theo of Golden, a Portuguese protagonist who grew up in the vineyards along the Douro River! He referenced his childhood throughout the book….sounded wonderful.
It’s really cold and gray here today. I have a cold, and I’m cranky. I drove to my not-so-close-by hair salon to get my bangs trimmed … it’s worth the drive to me. Oh, and bangs are far cheaper than Botox.
I had to pull over a couple times to sneeze violently, but it’s all good. H & I are going to brave the winter-in-spring weather to walk in a few minutes. The excitement never ends!
It is so cold here!
The forecast said 50 but it’s 4pm and 43. It’s raining mist and windy so even better.
My husband’s golf league canceled tonight. He is thrilled!
I took a short walk today because rain and 40 is the worst. Played mahjong this afternoon.
Might go to dinner because I wasn’t planning on dinner since it’s golf league night and a night off from cooking.
I did my volunteer job this morning, brought a return to FedEx. It’s 60 degrees and overcast. I haven’t seen the sun in several days and it’s zapped my energy level. I find it hard to get motivated when it’s grey outside. I’m hoping it’s brief as I can’t handle 2 months of this weather.
The dull boring day today. Workout - short run/moderate stairclimber/upper body lift/mobility work. Then to work. I did have 2 Teams meeting (the joys of downtown parking and traffic signal grant apps). Since I was not an active participant, I was able to shut the door to my OFFICE (
) and walk around and do mobility work. I never use the cameras.
I get to go home in 8 minutes and counting. Perhaps we will walk “the loop” (aka a 2 mile route through our neighborhood and a cemetery) before dinner. If not, I’ll read instead. Then it’s Walmart Wednesday followed by watching something on TV.
I can’t wait to get back to Maine:
It was 105 here yesterday, though only 97 today. I’ve had enough of the evil yellow ball. Give me a few months of clouds and rain and cool.
I would personally take the cold temperatures over the hot ones!
